A beautiful, spacious, and immaculate gym. This gym is for folks that want comfort to go along with their workout routine. The locker room felt posh and I loved the massaging / relaxing lounge area. When Ronnie and I went to tour, parking wasn't bad and it was not crowded. Alexi gave us the tour. We felt very welcomed, she was not pushy, and was very thorough. The good - I have been a member on and off since before Covid. Since then I have discovered I am hypermobile and Erin who I am seeing as a personal trainer twice a week is fantastic! She really is keeping an eye on my form to make sure I don't overextend my joints. She is very aware of my need to sit down sometimes to rest, she makes me feel very comfortable while pushing me at the same time. She really pays attention, and is able to modify my exercises so they work with my hyper mobility, making sure that my form is correct and she is so encouraging! As I said, I've had several trainers here, and I've been a member of other gyms and Erin's physique is absolutely inspiring! I know I am in good hands with Erin because not only is she paying attention to my emotional needs, hypermobility, she not only talks the talk of a trainer, but she clearly walks the walk and that is unique. Anyone can tell you how to use a machine, but not everyone can tell you how to use the machine for your particular body. The bad? Usually I'm working outside with Erin. The music outside is loud even when they have another class outside with their own music, so you have competing music going on, clearly no one is paying attention to that. The last time I was there and outside, I came in after my workout, and one of the people at the front desk was just scrolling on her phone. When she finally looked up, I told her about the competing music outside & it being so loud it was hard to concentrate. She said that's the playlist. I was curious why she thought volume and music selection had anything to do with each other. She explained the playlist was Rap. A playlist and volume have nothing to do with each other, and one kind of music is called a genre, just to be clear. So when we finally got the difference between a playlist and a genre figured out and we finally got the difference between volume and a playlist figured out she went and checked the volume on the computer and said ...oh it's really loud and she turned it down. Why are they not monitoring this? Why are they not making sure things are running right? I really appreciate Erin and the coaches doing their jobs (and before Covid, I had two other trainers who were also both excellent). I have noticed there are some members of the reception team that are great and some that scroll on their phones and don't pay attention. I would say the current management is not great based on what I have experienced. There are a lot of other gyms. I do go here because frankly, Erin is great with my hyper-mobility. it does seem like the trainers all have to wear a short sleeve uniform, and what I really appreciated in the past was trainers were able to wear what they were comfortable moving in & visually I find it very important for a trainer to be able to say & demonstrate ... see here is the muscle group I want to have moving...and giving an example of the proper form for a particular movement/exercise. A great example of this is/was The Mirror (subsequently purchased by Lululemon, then Peloton) where the trainers wear what they are comfortable in. Never - not once - did I see a trainer wearing a logo brand on their clothing. Moreover, I would see the instructors were given the liberty to wear what would make them the best instructors possible versus brand ambassadors, which is what I see right now at Forma. I would say management needs to be more concerned with how the front desk is operating and let the trainers do their job versus just making sure all the trainers are wearing the same uniform. The first trainer I ever had at Forma about eight years ago, was part of the management team so I really felt there was more cohesion going on. They also have a digital sign inside listing appropriate etiquette use of cell phones because some people have major conversations - out loud, obviously, on their phones while on the treadmill. Posted as part of Forma's etiquette is please don't do that -which I'm glad they have it posted. However, many times I have been on the treadmill, listening to people having major conversations and I have my earbuds in and I can still hear them. What are the people at the front desk doing? If I can hear them how can the front desk people not monitor this and not come over and politely say - hey, these are the rules? So all in all, I have found fantastic trainer, but how the gym is being managed today verses several years ago, could definitely be improved. read more

I was flagged down in the gym by 6 members complaining of the outrages price increase. we refer new clients and the receive discounts when they sign up under the member. But the member receives no incentive. .Yes, the facility is nice and the staff is great and we have no complaints on that it is clearly the ridiculous price increase. First off, location is super convenient and there is always parking, which is great!!! The front desk people are constantly changing and very young and most not friendly but not a big deal. Make sure to grab a eucalyptus towel! I love that they have an outdoor gym weight area, so when the weather is nice it is good to be outside working out! They also have a pool and hot tub which I never tried but a few years ago my dad checked out the facilities and said the bottom of the pool is not as smooth as the courtside pool. Maybe they fixed it since then. They have a big room for classes. But when there are no classes in sesh, you can stretch or do anything really in there. Lots of options for cardio, tons of elliptical, treadmills, stair climbers, bikes. Love that they have hip abductor and hip adductor and hip thrust machine, not all gyms have those machines. The cleaning ladies are sooo nice, one time i left my AirPods here and of the ladies found them and gave them to me when I came back looking for them. Never tried the sauna but my sister liked it. The bathrooms have some amenities and lockers. Lots of friendly people workout here. So yeah, just the best gym in the San Jose area, that's all. read more

I had significant difficulty discussing my benefits and scheduling personal training sessions with Andres. They were evasive and kept delaying, ultimately failing to get me scheduled. This led me to try UFC Fit gym, which offered better equipment and made it easy to book trainers. The most significant concern at this gym is security. The lockers are frequently broken into, making it unsafe to leave valuables. This lack of security is a serious deterrent. read more

I just had the absolute worst massage of my life. I typically go for deep tissue combined with sports massage, but this was nothing like what I've experienced before. The entire session felt rushed, with the therapist using his elbow to dig into my body in a way that was neither effective nor comfortable. all he did for 50 min was rub oil on my body and used his elbow to dig into my muscle and bone. A proper massage should involve slow, deliberate movements, allowing the therapist to use their fingers and hands to work deep into the tissue and muscle fibers and release adhesions in the tiny muscle fibers that are causing the tension and knots. While elbows can be used occasionally, a skilled masseuse knows that they don't reach the tiny muscle fibers where tightness forms using elbows. You need fingers for that--not clumsy elbows! To top it off, the therapist's appearance was unprofessional. Most massage therapists wear uniforms or scrubs, but this guy showed up in sweats and a t-shirt, with his belly hanging out. It was distracting and frankly off-putting. The whole massage I felt his belly hanging over me when he would use his elbow to dig into my bone and muscles. It was painful. It felt disorganized; what he did on one side of my body was completely different from the other. Overall, it was a terrible experience. I was so dissatisfied that I cut my 80-minute session short by 30 minutes, yet they still had the audacity to charge me the full price. I wouldn't recommend booking a massage with this guy--save your money and go elsewhere! read more

After reading the reviews I'm actually quite surprised that anyone would give only one star. This is a very pricey gym but not as much as some other competing facilities similar in size. Every piece of equipment I have used looks brand new, and they even added some new equipment recently that I'm excited to try out! The cleaning staff is amazing and always on top of it. Nice sauna, every toiletry item you could possibly need along with full towel service (the chilled face towels with essential oil is so nice while using the sauna), and huge outdoor gym is what really sold me to sign up at this location. I'm always greeted by friendly staff and in the 3 months that I've been a member I've attended workout classes and used the gym regularly and I havent had one single bad experience. 5 stars and two thumbs up for Forma Gym! read more

I've been working out here for about a month now. I was with my prior gym (I won't name names, but let's just say it was a large "luxury" sports club in the Bay) for over 10 years and finally had to leave. I was so happy to find Forma! The facility is very nice with a ton of great equipment. I've never felt that the space is too busy to work out, even at prime time. The place is CLEAN! I am so impressed with how well they keep up on cleaning, even at the end of the night. The staff are incredibly friendly (some even have remembered my name). I've had a massage, which was really nice. Oh, and the people who come here are also super friendly and everyone seems to treat the place with a ton of respect. All in all, I am happy! They might be missing a few amenities from my prior gym, but I don't miss it at all! Thanks Forma! I'm looking forward to sticking around for a while. read more

I have been a member of this gym for many, many years, and through several ownerships. There have been good times and not so good times, but as now managed this gym leaves much to be desired. The current experience relies on a misguided, and chaotic, environment. This makes a serious attempt at working out a problem given the noise and chaos. Several experiences dealing with the current manager about issues with equipment over the last several years have lead me to conclude he does not care about client questions or input. The emails I have sent him have been ignored or resulted in delayed responses full of inaccurate information and promises that were not kept. This is not a recipe for success. I continue as a member as a matter of convenience. I do not believe this gym will ultimately be successful in the long term without a change in management that includes a manager who respects and is responsive to their clientele. read more

I really wanted to love this gym. My husband and I recently relocated from the Sacramento area, where we were members of Lifetime. We truly loved that facility and knew we'd be hard pressed to find something of similar quality, but were determined to keep open minds as fitness is an important part of our lives. We were excited to find Forma and hopeful that it would work for us. My husband signed us up online after a lot of research. I arrived for my welcome tour appointment right on time. Being punctual is important to me not only because I'm generally busy, but because it demonstrates respect for other's people time. I was greeted by the front desk worker who said that the person I had an appointment with was "busy". He asked me to have a seat. I waited for 15 minutes in full view of the front desk staff with no apologies or updates as to when I could expect the tour to begin. I only had an hour and a half to work out, so decided to forgo the tour despite not having a clue as to where anything was. I felt this was a fairly terrible way to welcome a new member to the facility, but do realize that life happens so tried to keep an open mind. I let the front desk know that I wasn't able to wait longer for the tour appointment and headed in to work out. I started feeling some doubt whenI proceeded to the locker room which has tiny lockers and an overall claustrophobic vibe. I was not impressed by this, but was less impressed by the pervading smell of urine in the adjacent hallway. I thought this was odd since I could see the cleaning team working. This smell persisted the whole time I was a member. To be clear, I don't think it's the fault of the cleaning crew. During the timeframe i belonged to forma I did attend two yoga classes, both of which were held in the dingy upstairs studio. One of the classes was better than the other, but neither were inspiring. They felt more like the classes you'd expect at a community center or the Y rather than a higher end gym. The treadmills seemed to be in good working order, which is about the best thing I can think to say about this place. Their policies are also misleading and I wasn't able to get a partial refund when I decided I had had enough and quit membership when I realized I was dreading going to get a workout in. Overall, this was a really disappointing, lackluster experience. read more

This place used to be ok--an older building that has been there since 1980s. However, they have been consistently raising the membership fee and now they raised mine by more that 12%. Many people are complaining about the outrageous fee increase. They say they are a luxury gym--in my opinion, no it is not. It is a mediocre small gym. Hanging more wall decorations does not make this a luxury gym. They indicated that amount of membership fee raise depends on when a member joined. So while someone gets $7 increase, someone else could get $17 or $50 increase. That makes no sense. I won't even go into details about problems I have been noticing for past several years (e.g., heating and cooling not working properly, ants in the lockers). Their fake smiles don't fool people. It is still beginning of the year and gyms should be busy. However, during peak hours it has been pretty empty. Forma, you should value and treat your members a lot better. read more

This has to be the cleanest gym in San Jose. The cleaning people do a great job and work hard to keep the place clean. I don't workout much so the price is a little high but would be worth it if I was to come all the time. Andreas and the other sales people are professional and kind. Dillan at the front desk is very inviting and makes an effort to have a conversation with me and call me by my first name. Maaura is so warm and works hard to keep the gym in tip top shape. I don't really like writing negative reviews, but I was really taken back with my experience here. The initial consultation with the sales person went well. She gave me a free pass to try a class or two out. When I went for my second class, I asked the front desk girl where the class was and she said it was outside. I went outside and looked around as I was new and didn't find anything. So then I went back inside and realized the class had already started upstairs. I told her that since the class had already started and it's already 10 minutes past I will just come back another time. They didn't seem to care so I went on with the day. I came back the next day and they tried to charge me $25 and gave me a bunch of attitude. When I came in the next time to join the class, the front desk, girl who seemed very entitled for no reason was talking disrespectfully and I was scratching my head as to why I am dealing with this first thing in the morning. I ended up not going with this gym and looking at the recent reviews, seems to be a trend. I really hope this gym gets it together so people who are willing to pay and enjoy the facility will come back. Until then, planet fitness seems to work just fine. read more

I just signed up with my partner and love this gym. I have had a previous membership here before Covid and have no complaints. The gym is clean, not packed and the locker area with sauna, steam room and jacuzzi are stellar. They even have cooled eucalyptus towels for you to use as aromatherapy. Anyone who complains about this gym seriously cannot be satisfied - this gym has everything and more than anyone could ask for in regards to fitness and great customer service. This review is mostly for the amazing staff. I've been going to Forma since the Pandemic because they offered much longer swim times than AVAC, 45 minutes as apposed to 30. Though the facilities are NOT the newest, they have something much greater than most gyms........their staff, and that's why I continue to be a member. The reason I left the other gym with a nicer outdoor pool was because of rude staff. You will not find any rude staff at Forma. The staff is welcoming and do an amazing job maintaining all areas of the facilities. Ronnie, or it might be Ronny is such a hard worker, he can always be found running around maintaining the pool and other areas with a smile no less, he always take the time to look up acknowledge you. Andres is one of the membership specialist and is absolutely fantastic, so is Reanna, shes also membership specialist, she's so very lovely and pleasant to interact with. I think we often overlook the hard working ladies of Forma that keep our locker rooms and shower areas clean. A big thank you to Elizabeth and Veronica, both superstars when it comes to maintaining these spaces where we feel most vulnerable. We take it for granted how much work goes into maintaining such a busy locker room. These ladies are always on the goall while doing it with a smile. I have honestly never come across a team of cleaners who are so upbeat and sweet. I'm forgetting the other lady's name as I don't see her much on the days I'm there, but she's also wonderful. The person that does the hiring, this takes talent, because it's not so easy to find such great staff, trust me, I know, it's like hitting the jackpot. So kudos to the hiring manager. And finally, the class instructors. Bernadette that teaches dance , HIIT, Stretch & Roll and Fit Lab, her classes are so much fun & full of energy. Melinda is just a legend. Period. The experience overall was very horrible, this is my 3rd time coming into this gym to try to start a new membership. The first time I sat there for 30mins waiting, and the second time I was told the membership person was not in. This time I went in and was asked once more to have a seat. Sitting for maybe 10mins, the gentlemen who was to help me was speaking to who I assume is a currrent member about the warriors game last night. The woman sitting behind him walks up and asks him if he could assist another member on a current membership issue. I can NOT make this up, the membership guy looks right at me looks at his computer than looks back at her and says, Yea I can help. ? I get it keep the customers happy but if this place is losing business it's cause they aren't able to solidify the walk ins, they let them walk out. I used to love the gym, but not anymore. Their pool is dirty, sauna didn't work for a long time, swim suit dryer is not working and nobody is fixing it. Promises they give when you sign up they break- i joined it largely because of the ping pong table and they promised that I can bring my own ping pong partner free of charge just to play ping pong but then they said no. Guest passes are not flexible like anywhere else- only 1st Friday of the month and even then it's complicated. Freeze membership policy is useless if you have emergency because you need to give 30 day notice. I left the gym because of the collection of issues. read more

I wanted to love this gym so much! It has a beautiful outdoor gym and tons of state of the art and innovative equipment. It's too bad that I was told that the day care would be opening a month after I signed up (it's one of the reasons I joined) only for the day care hours to be an unreasonable 8a-12p on weekdays. As a working parent, I just can't use those hours. I haven't been able to come in for two whole months, as a result. I have effectively wasted a couple hundred dollars on Forma's empty promises of childcare. Then, I found out that they are getting rid of the childcare completely! What kind of "luxury" gym doesn't have childcare? Especially one that claims to be family oriented? Parents beware. Don't join if you actually want to be able to use this gym. read more
