Great fitness club with a pool and many workout areas inside and outside. It is not too busy and the stuff is very friendly. Cassi is super knowledgeable and is very supportive. She helped me with a tour, a trial group class and membership. I was matched with a class level that I asked about. Riana was also super friendly! I like the amenities and the ambiance. For me a fitness club should be comfortable, modern, friendly with group classes and SPA amenities. Forma checks all my boxes. read more

Beware! Security at this gym's locker rooms and parking lot is a problem! I am not a member but a patient of More Physical Therapy and receive pool therapy at this property. On 6/1/23 multiple mens lockers were broken into and cash and valuables stolen. Yes, I was naive to think this would not happen here considering the majority of the members at this time of day are seniors and never gave it a second thought. I was wrong! The reason for this post is not to whine about the lost money, but the attitude of the management and the fact, unknown to me previously after multiple years of PT here, that this has happened in the past. It seems to be an accepted situation with the staff and unfortunately the members whom enjoy the gym and put up with it. Management has known their lockers are easy to pry open, but have taken no steps to address the situation. Not sure if the ladies have the same problem. After this recent event the onsite manager, Andres, had a very complacent attitude towards the theft and stated "there was nothing he could do!" which I am confident is true based on his response and skills in customer relations. During this time a member was on the phone to the police to file a report while Andres acted un interested? I had requested contact info for his superior (Faro) whom is infrequently there when I inquired when I could speak with him. I have yet to receive a response from Faro after sending a detailed e-mail regarding the incident. I returned for another appointment on 6/8/23 and asked Andres if Faro was onsite and he was. Andres, with the same attitude as in previous week, was unwilling to track him down for me. He assured me he knew I was expecting to speak with him. During my whole 2 hours onsite Faro avoided me and couldn't take five minutes to discuss the matter. When leaving Andres stated Faro was busy had no explanation for him. This is just pitiful customer service from both of these guys! This Gym, it's members and the patients of More PT deserve better! I am not sure if the owners of the gym realize what poor skills their management has here and to think I was considering membership? It is also known this is a bad parking lot for break-ins. If your wallet, purse, laptop, etc. is not safe inside the lockers well it is not safe in your car either and I am sure these thieves understand this. I feel it could very well be the same culprits. Inside work is that of some members or their guests. This type of break-in requires one or more as watch out while one is rifling through lockers all while people are in the sauna, hot tub and on the gym floor. Such a shame there is such a low life bunch looming within the gym eye balling a mark! Pity the gym doesn't have competent management just a couple of guys posing as such. If ownership cared you would hope they would make some changes for the better. read more

First and foremost, let me preface this review by stating that I am not a member here. Rather, this review is for the subpar and incompetent customer service I experienced while coming here with a friend to inquire about memberships and facility tours. We first arrived at around 11 A.M. on a Friday. It was very quiet and few people were using the facility. We were told by the front desk staff that membership specialists were in meetings until noon and to come back later. So come back later we did, and after the same front desk staff asked us to fill in waivers with our info, he then looks at his phone and tells us again, oh the membership staff is tied up again. While he said this, the membership specialist was visible on the other side of the room, clearly not occupied by any other task at that moment. So after this, we tried to ask the front desk staff to give us a ballpark range of membership prices, to which he responded: "Oh I can't tell you that it depends on your age." Not sure if there are discriminatory member screening/pricing practices going on or not. We left the facility after this and went back in to ask them to remove our information from their systems, also to find the membership specialist still lounging at his desk. TLDR: Rude, incompetent front desk staff, possibly discriminatory member screening practices, subpar customer service and lack of sales effort whatsoever. read more

I visited Forma gym for the first time today with a friend of mine who was convincing me to get a membership there. I wanted to check out the gym and after giving out my information to sign up for a pass, Jakob approached us and said I cannot have a free pass because my friend brought me in. I asked, so if I was coming by myself, I could get a free pass? He said yes. So do you guys want people not to bring their friends? I asked again, because my friend brought me in, you are not offering me free pass? He said yes, you can pay for the day pass. We left and went to club sport and they easily give us free pass. I had an encounter with a staff member who was very rude with me. I was polite to the person but it was a very negative experience based on what he said and his demeanor. I complained by sending the manager three emails and never received a response. I also asked the front desk to speak to the manager regarding the issue and I was given a "he's not available", and another time "I will let him know you are here, and he will come and find you in the gym". I wanted for about 90 minutes and then just left because he was not coming. Very disappointed that I didn't at least get "I will talk to him. We are really sorry to hear about about your experience". I just want to appreciate the staff and all the hard work that goes into maintaining the facilities at Forma. Unfortunately I believe this kind of work often gets over looked, including by myself, in the past! Whenever I talk about Forma to friends I notice myself referring to the cleanliness of the facility including the locker rooms and shower area. I know a lot of hard work goes into keeping the place clean and tidy. Elizabeth, Veronica and everyone who make up the cleaning staff do a great job of keeping the place in order. I can't speak to the men's locker room, but I see the cleaning staff making their rounds in every corner of the gym and I can see they are working hard. I appreciate the kindness of the cleaning staff as well! Because they are always in the locker room creating a comfortable environment, I am always greeted with friendly attitude. I was recommended this gym by a friend. I used to go to City Sports but I became impatient trying to get the machines. I want to come into the gym and make sure I get my workout done within a reasonable time. Being at City Sports didn't give me that, I was normally there for about 3 hours and most of the time I was waiting for a machine to be free. When I came in for a tour and a consult about the gym, I felt comfortable. I was greeted by Kate who showed me the gym and what comes with it. She was very sweet. She listened to my concerns about being at the gym. I was tired of having to wait and covid didn't make it any better. She reassured me that it doesn't get so busy here. I enjoy having excellent customer service especially coming from staff that truly do care about their customers. After the tour, I immediately signed up. I knew that this gym would be better for me in the long-run. The staff always has a positive energy. There is enough space in between everyone so I don't feel so claustrophobic. I would highly recommend this gym. It is high end but every penny I spend here, I know I'm investing into myself. read more

I have been a member for a while now but I am currently rethinking my membership and change to a more state of the art facility. The equipment and facilities are falling apart and have not been updated and repairs are very slow. The outdoor Jaccuzzi has been closed for a couple of weeks now without any ETA when it's fixed. The pool is currently very murky and it seems that the staff doesn't even know about it. While the front desk staff is always friendly, it seems that these young people have not been trained in customer service and there is usually no one from the management available if an issue comes up. read more

I read some reviews before posting this and still didn't change my mind on the 5 stars. I am a member of 24 hour fitness but because of covid obviously that or any other gym indoors is not an option. My brother told me about this gym and at first I thought it was a bit pricey but just like anything if you really wanna workout you will find a way to pay. I did month to month and I am paying 120$ a month. I'm not going to complain about the price because like an adult I read the fine print and I know what I got myself into. The atmosphere is cool. It can get super packed in there but you just gotta figure it out, go in with a plan if a machine is taken have a back up plan for the next machine you can use and so on. I can see there a shit ton of bro's there but I just keep my headphones in and get to work. The customer service in my opinion is fine. I don't talk much as it is there but if I ever had a Q someone helped me out. The staff is always saying hi (not all but hey maybe they are working on their social skills) All in all, I am weighing cancelling 24 to make Forma my new home! Great gym, great people! read more

After visiting several gyms in the bay area over the past few years (24 hour, City sports, UFC, Bay Club), I feel that I have finally found one that does it just right. Forma realizes that sweating it out is helped massively by having a view of nature and benefiting from the fresh air the trees provide. Research has proven that working a desk job with a view of a tree improves efficiency (and even life expectancy) and do we really need research to know this? Who doesn't like being among some beautiful tall trees and foliage. The outdoor turf really is something like no other. They have a kickboxing bag, multiple pull up bars, weights, TRX equipment, footballs, a large artificial grass turf. You could do a full obstacle course here. Classes are great, particularly the mindfulness ones (though the Walnut Creek location seems to have it going on fairly more than the SJ one). There's an​ outdoor heated swimming pool with multiple lanes, adjacent to a hot tub with jets. Swimming out there among the trees feels like a Hawaiian resort. There's a space for a cafe as well which is coming soon. The locker rooms are complete with their own hot tubs, sauna and steam rooms. The physical therapy looks pretty awesome too, though I haven't had a chance to try it yet. The employees are respectful and accommodating​, no pushiness (compare this with another gym which tried to sign me up for personal training because 'I work in tech and will barely feel it on the wallet') Add the eucalyptus towels and some other handy amenities and it becomes worth the monthly price. read more

False advertising. Why advertise a free day pass and then tell me its $25 after all of the scheduling and back and forth. Most likely to steal your information (phone, email, etc). This gym is beautiful, clean and bright. I love the exercise classes it motivates me to go more often and I have made some nice friends. They've done an outstanding job in converting their facility to an outdoor gym in order to adhere to the Covid-19 State Order. I spoked with Michael on the phone prior my first visit. He did an excellent job in explaining and answering any questions I had. Staffs are friendly and provides great customer service. What they're doing to protect you: 1. Reservation system limit to 20-30people. 2. Sanitizing station (they provide you a bottle of sanitizer and wipe for you to clean before and after you use an equipment). 3. Equipments are distanced apart to ensure social distancing. 4. Everything is done outdoor. Other: 1. They do have a lap pool and a jacuzzi you can reserve. 2. I joined Forma Gym two months ago and now due to injury and coming surgery I had to unfortunately cancel my membership. I called Forma Gym twice and both time were told that my cancelation has been received and is being processed, which will take 5 to 7 business days. I asked specifically if they can make sure that the cancelation request is in and I was told that yes, everything will be ok. I was supposed to receive cancelation email within that timeframe. Since I haven't received email after 7 days I called the gym again and was told by the account specialist that there is no cancelation request on my account!! I was really disappointed after visiting this gym. I had really high hopes as their yelp photos are great, their location is good as is their marketing. I knew their memberships were about $100 a month so I was expecting a lot better than I saw. I don't like when businesses pricing isn't on their website. Here are their costs as of now: Membership- (with varying initiation fees) Month to month: $109 12 month contract: $99 Personal Training- Member price $85/hour Non-member $100/hour Pilates Reformer class- Member price $27 Non-member $37 As other reviewer's have stated, this gym feels like a warehouse. A tightly packed warehouse. The gym is very close quarters, and there is not much of variety of equipment because there is a ton of cardio machines and bikes. To get to the Pilates studio you have to squeeze your body through a tightly packed row of cycling bikes. Everything feels a little bit old and outdated, the carpets are a disaster and disgusting along the staircase, mirrors are broken and taped together. Some of the machines looked rusty and worn out. City sports club is a way better value, although they don't have the outdoor pool and outdoor workout area. There was a $20,000 living wall installed in the gym, I think they could've spent their money better elsewhere. I would call this place two steps up from a 24 hour fitness but two steps below city sports club on Monterey Highway. read more

This is gym is everything and more. If you have have been to club sport , it is very similar to that. Great weight facility . What ever is inside you can bring out side. There is a punching bag . Pilates , Pilates reformer, a list of amazing classes. The bathrooms are like a spa. Private hot tub, steam room and sauna. I do have one gripe and that is to the members who don't follow gym etiquette . STOP using your cell phone in the locker room . I don't want to hear your conversation . There is a sign out front that says no cell phone use. I have expressed to the staff and no one enforces it. At club sport, if someone is even texting ( in the locker room) they will ask you to put your phone away . To me it's annoying . Otherwise love this place. read more

I never imagine that the general manager Faro Tahery took me seriously but he does. This man is always busy working and I mean physically working and caring for everyone. I thought he wan't listening to me and just give me the brush on the shower but he is serious. I have alot of respect for people like him. He smiles and work hard all the time and then he pays attention to me. Yesterday, I yokingly about having a charging station for my electric vehicles. There isn't one in the whole shopping area so I mentioned it to him and he actually told me that he would have it done by next week since they got other stuff going on. I don't mind but he talked to me and later that day and said he will get it done. Boy, not just only him but everyone here always says hello and smfiling and have good manners. Like most people I have migrated from Gym to Gym and recently ended up at Forma. After being there for 5-6 months however, I could not find the value. For $85+ a month, yes they supply towels, shampoo's, etc however, at Forma SJ, here where the issues: 1) Limited workout equipment i.e. - only one of a lot of equipment such as One Leg press, I had to wait multiple times for people who were checking Social Media for 10 mins in between sets. 2) Broken workout equipment 3) Sauna plumbing constantly on the fritz. In the mens room, one too many (old men) Trump supporters and not much room. The biggest issue was trying to quit forma. Any company knows that today if a customer wants to end a contract, just end it, why keep a disgruntled customer? But Forma make you make it hell to leave. If you do choose to go there, check the end of contract clause and go in between peak times. read more

I did a free trial of this gym for 2 weeks. The one thing that stands out about this gym is the outdoor space with the turf. I haven't heard of a gym with that in the area and it definitely piqued my interest. The gym is also right off of the highway exit to go home so it was in an optimal location. The outdoor space is really big and nice but could use some more equipment so that one could do their entire workout outdoors. The equipment is also a little worn and rusted, probably in part to the weather and rain etc., but it could use some regular maintenance. As for the indoor section, the layout is quite confined/small for weights. The layout can make it a bit cramped when it is busier at the gym. In addition the gym doesn't seem like it's that well maintained and a lot of mirrors were cracked. However, the one perk is that the gym was never quite as 'full' as other gyms are during the peak time which is in the late afternoon after work. There was never a time when I found myself waiting more than 10 mins for a machine. The cool eucalyptus towels and whirlpool tub, sauna, and steam room are a perk but the sauna was small and only fit 4 people comfortably. The locker rooms were very well maintained and clean. Overall, it's a nicer gym but to me it didn't fully blow my hair back where I could justify spending $100/month for it. read more

My friend told me about the gym and I wanted to check it out. How great to see that they were giving free 30 days! Even though it was suspicious I decided to give it a try. So me and my daughter 8 went to the gym. When I got there I was greeted by Fabricio. So we sit down, talk about current gym, goals, why want to switch. For 30 minutes we talk. He gives us a tour. The gym is very nice. A woman Andrea gives me a tour of women's locker room. They have an indoor jacuzzi, sauna and a steam room. Was getting super excited about that free 30 days. So after the tour with Andrea I am greeted by Fabricio. He had two reusable water bottles and three gift cards. My daughter asked him is this water bottle for me? And he says yes it's for you. Blah blah blah. In order to get this 30 days you must pay $49. (As you can see from my text above that I was never informed I would be paying. The text was very misleading.) After explaining to Fabricio that I would not be paying because I would be double paying membership. He basically says thanks for your time have a great day. And the water bottles are for members only. Haha how rude. Don't even want the one day trial anymore. I'll stick to my gym. 2 stars because the gym is nice and I liked the woman's locker room. read more

STAY AWAY! I was a member here back since it was Ronnie Lott's. I left and came back to new management. Ugh! How tragic! The place is WAY overpriced and while the staff that greet you are friendly, they're also totally apathetic to problems. Worse, the place is poorly managed -- never have I been a member at any gym with a pool that CLOSES ALL LANES to accommodate a handful of people doing water-aerobics, particularly when they could ALL fit into one lane with a TON of room to spare...! What, you close all the bikes if two are in use?!?If the place was crowded, I could maybe see it, but the pool was 75% to 80% empty? And the trainer was quite rude. But then, so was the manager when I complained. Supposedly, you need an app to keep up with what's going on because no one could be bothered to do what EVERY OTHER GYM does and simply have a board with class/events. At $70 a month and $90 membership, these guys charge caviar prices but deliver it on a poorly-run paper plate! STAY AWAY! read more

I'm reluctant to write this review but it's the reality. I signed up for this gym way back because it was clean, classy and upscale. I worked out at both this location and Walnut Creek and used to be so excited to go work out! When they reopened out door I was ecstatic. I had a great first workout but than slowly started noticing how different the crowd was becoming. It's evident that because of the lack gyms open outdoors, everyone is migrating here. Nothing against power lifting, cross fit and fitness competitors, but if I wanted to be around half naked, sweaty steroid-using junkies, I would've gone to Golds or American Barbell. Between them filming their workouts, occupying the same machine for 30+ mins than passing it off to their friends, it's pointless to even come here. I'm not over paranoid about covid but with limited machines and the staff not monitoring who's coming and going, you end up waiting around for machines or using the free weights which I could just do at home. I hope the crowd changes when it official reopens, but until then I'll be cancelling my membership. This gym has turned into a prison yard. I was very disappointed and I do not know why I would pay $120 for such some customer service offered by people with discursive and arrogant attitudes, besides having no knowledge of the gym they are working for. I went in the gym today trying to start a membership during COVID. I asked if the front desk people could give me a trip or introduce the gym and they were not willing to. They looked at each other and no one wanted to talk about it. When I asked for the classes and the membership fees, their attitudes were very discursive, giving me vague and random answers. Meanwhile, they were not clear what kind of classes offered nor the membership price and asked me to go look online. I mean why would I check-in if I want something available online??? I don't think this worths $120/month. If you don't care, never mind. But why pay for such terrible service if you are able to find a better one? read more

I have been going to this location now for over 7 years (it was originally Ronnie Lott, then changed over to Club One, then changed over to Active Sports and now Forma Gym). Most of the front desk staff from Active sports have remained after the hand off to Forma gym along with most of the personal trainers and class instructors. Front office staff Marco and Josh are great and make you feel welcome when entering and leaving, if you are a long time member they make the effort to remember your name. Polo and his team do a fantastic job keeping the gym equipment clean. Otherwise the whole management team structure and member sign up representatives have all changed. The club is conveniently located near Westfield Oakridge mall and has shower (towels, mouthwash, soap, shaving cream, antiperspirant, lotion supplied) and sauna facilities that are maintained. Parking is an issue at times since it is shared with bowling alley and overflow for mall parking. Forma rents this space therefore cannot reserve any spots, this will become an issue if membership increases and there is nothing they can do at this time. Since Forma took over for a remodel, they have done some much needed upgrades Pros: + Fixed bathroom extractor fans (no more smell) + Regrouted showers + Painted walls + Changed gym carpet to laminate + Replaced padded floor mats with padded tables. + Replaced all the spin cycles + Replaced Smith Machine + Added more flat and adjustable incline benches + Spruced up pilates area + Shined floor of group classes + May add more windows, hence 180 degree shift in cardio equipment facing wall/ pool side. + Removed boxing bag Cons: - New treadmills (reduced # of them to 15) - New recumbent bikes (reduced # to ~15) - Same old Precor ellipticals (reduced # to 11 of them), no TVs - Most strength training equipment is new, but they have severely reduced # of machines - Appears they may not have got permits to add a mezzanine upstairs, where the old racquetball room was (just a storage area now) The strength training area is very sparse and sorely lacking in wide range of strength equipment. The breadth of strength training equipment that was working and in good condition is now gone. Forma has reduced the amount of gym weight machines down to 1/3 of Active Sports. What's missing in strength training equipment area and needs to be brought back: - Incline bench press with weight stack - Chest pullover with weight stack - Lateral raise machine with weight stack - Preacher bench with weight stack - Dumbbell rack missing 2.5lb increments: 12.5 lb, 17.5 lb, 22.5 lbs great for pyramiding up/down, now you just have 5 lb increments. If Forma think by reducing the amount of equipment and raising prices in future is going to fly they better think again. So if you are looking for a gym membership that has higher $$ dues than other gyms, has an airy feel to it with very little strength training equipment from what they had before but looks nice (painted walls, new floor, new padded benches, upgraded bathrooms) then this club may be for you. I will seriously consider revisiting these other clubs before renewing unless they get more strength training equipment (machines, dumbbells, benches) and address issues above. They are going to face stiff competition from: 1- City Sports will open a new site off Almaden Expwy and Cherry Ave in April near Bass Pro Shop, they will start memberships at $34.95 2- Planet Fitness coming in Feb at off 1375 Blossom Hill Rd will offer $10 a month with no commitments and all there cardio and strength training equipment is new 3- Retro Fitness just down the road from Forma also has memberships for $19.99 with new strength training equipment. 4- Of course there is always 24 Hour Fitness and Gold's Gym read more

Longer review: we've had two different trainers here at Forma, and have really benefited from both (two different styles). Currently Jon Cebula is our trainer. He really listened to our wants and after each session we always say, "That was challenging and fun!" He's encouraging, clearly explains everything, doesn't let us give in or give up! And after a sweaty workout their cold, eucalyptus towels are awesome! Update: We've been training with Jon for several months now - still terrific- he has a hidden talent...he's an excellent yoga instructor as well. His voice, instructions, pacing, modifications, correct postures are very impressive. read more

I've been going to this San Jose gym for a long time- my main draw is the pool, outdoor turf area and quality of trainers. One specifically is Torey who has been my spouses PT for a year now- bottom line , she used to avoid going to workouts, but with the personal coaching of Torey, she now has goals and is very upbeat about exercising. It's important to know how to use the equipment and have a progressive plan- Torey has done that. read more

I received a message from Robert, the owner of Forma, within 30 minutes of writing my negative review. He offered an apology, explanation, and resolution. I was pleasantly surprised by his quick response and generous offer. On my first visit to Forma I was warmly greeted by Fabricio. He was especially interested in learning about me, my past workout experience, my fitness goals, and my workout routine & expectations. He showed me around the gym, ran me through a workout, and gave me group exercise class suggestions. He was also very patient with my daughter who needed some time getting used to the KidzVille area (since this was her first time ever being left in a daycare setting). On my second visit to Forma I tried a group exercise class, swam in the pool & hot tub, and used the showers. The barre class was great - better than I expected! The pool and hot tub were clean and perfect temperature. The showers were clean and fully stocked with high-quality shampoo/conditioner/body wash. I love that the women's locker room has coded locks on each locker - no need to bring my own lock! The hair dryers, Q-tips, lotion, towels, etc. are also great perks to being a member at Forma. I'd say the #1 thing that I love about Forma is the kid-friendly atmosphere. Fabricio explained that he wanted to make Forma a family gym - a place where moms & dads can bring their kids and enjoy KidzVille, family swimming on Sundays, and possibly kids group exercise classes. If things keep going well I will most likely sign up for a monthly membership. I am so happy that I gave Forma a second try. read more
