This class description certainly raised my eyebrows. I attended, and the class really wasn't that bad.

I can't say enough good things about ClubSport. Their facilities are excellent, there's a variety of training areas, swimming pools, a hot tub, hydromassage chairs, sauna, steam room, and a great selection of guided group exercise from kickboxing to pilates to spin. The group instructors I've tried are wonderful, especially Michelle in her expertise, Eva in her inspiration and Terri in her tranquility. The personal trainers are knowledgeable, dedicated, and seek to empower. I'm happy to see they have youth programs, usually led by Bronson, and they look like they have a lot of fun. And major respect for the Director of Fitness/PT Manager, Matt Truscott, with whom I've had the pleasure of gleaning a bit of strength and conditioning wisdom before I start physical therapy school. Matt cares about mentoring new trainers and passing on his knowledge to benefit others. Many compliments to the cleaning staff as well, as the gym is kept clean and well stocked in towels, shampoo/conditioner/body wash, and other amenities! They truly help make the whole experience feel like a Greek gymnasium and a Roman bathhouse rolled into one. They also have a cafe with ample seating. I often see people doing work there. Similar or slightly lower caliber gyms in the South Bay are around the 180-250/mo range, making ClubSport's all-inclusive membership at 135/mo a win. That all being said, I do have some reservations about others in the managerial suite. Brooke, the General Manager, is picky about which clients with whom to endear herself. I was not one of them, and early on, while I was considering membership (I was introduced to the Club through MORE Physical Therapy, which has a location in the same complex), she said I could not stay in the cafe, and I also know that she escalated this issue with MORE even after I left. It was my genuine misunderstanding, I thought the cafe was its own entity, like the clinic is. But I was surprised she did nothing to invite me to consider joining, which would have smoothed the edges and benefited the company. But I liked ClubSport enough to sign up despite her tactlessness. Brooke also seems to treat MORE like a nuisance -- why I say that is when she came to kick me out, she first asked in a condescending way if I was a MORE patient. She also gave my therapist, Gary, some trouble by wanting him to be responsible for kicking patients out immediately (based on what I heard from MORE staff, there is an agreement between ClubSport and MORE that patients are allowed to use the gym), and also spying and gossiping on Gary with other Club managers. If their values no longer align, then the two companies should revisit their contract, not harass workers and patients. Beside that, I witnessed her calling an older gentleman a "cheater" for taking a class with someone other than his usual instructor. His daughter voiced her displeasure that Brooke was so mean to a loyal member, and Brooke just laughed. Brooke even called over the other instructor to substantiate her gossip, and to see her reaction. All parties were uncomfortable, including the ~30 members who were waiting to start the class. Not professional at all. Other managers include Daisy from the cafe, Megan for group ex, and Alexis, the assistant general manager. The Club is great, but I question how they use their time to speak in whispers with the younger female front desk workers. I just hope these more seasoned women are not setting a bad example for the upcoming generation. But I still approve of ClubSport as a whole. I'm grateful that I can improve my body condition here, as you can see in my new profile!

I think it needs to be stated that this gym is the only gym I've ever been able to consistently go to. It has the best view of the stars if you're able to muster the energy to go right when they open. Every time I go in, I see the same familiar people at the reception, and they all make an effort to actually learn your name! I think that played a major part in keeping me going. It is honestly a bit pricy, but you're paying for a premium experience and the chance to make some of the best friends of your life. The people I talk to in this gym have given me life advice, gym advice, and are some of the most amazing people I've ever met(even if I forget their names sometimes- sorry!) The gym itself is a step above. I originally came for swimming, which is really great. As I've moved to gym, there's the standard gym room, and the EDGE where you can Olympic powerlift, hit the bags, and do some other pretty intense workouts. The classes look fun, and they've been trying to nudge me into taking some yoga, but I haven't done it juuuuust yet. Hope I'm coming here for years to come!

I love this place! I've been in and out of this gym since the Club One days, and the facilities has improved time and time again. The locker rooms and showers are cleaner than any other gym that I've been a member of. The instructors for group fitness classes here are amazing and supportive in helping you improve in fitness! My favorite classes are the dance, heated yoga, and heated Pilates classes. There are plenty of machines and weights both upstairs and downstairs, making it convenient to get a workout without any waiting period. Minus one star because the Service Desk can improve on hospitality. I've walked into the building and checked in at least 3 times within a short period in which the front desk didn't even look up from their phone. This concerns me for security reasons. Other than that, the digital lockers are secure and safe! It can be a little pricier than the average gym, but it is worth it!

My story is this.....My story begins in 2003 when I weighed in at 275lbs. From that very moment I stepped off the scale, I knew I had to take control of my life. I joined a weight loss program and started to hit the gym. Over the course of a few years, I was successful and lost a good amount of weight. My body reached a plateau in 2007, so I decided change things up and start personal training with Ronny Varghese (Paradigm owner, along with his wife Melody). That was the best decision I ever made. Once I started to train with Ronny, my body transform in ways I never thought were possible. I started at a body fat percentage of 26% and with time, patience and dedication, it dropped to my lowest ever of 17%.. I was literally in the best shape of my life and felt so incredibly healthy & strong. I was pretty much able to maintain my weight and activity level, until I became pregnant in July, 2011. At that time, I was participating in Ronny & Melody's bootcamp, which I continued for the first two months pregnancy. I eventually stopped attending once I moved to the other side of town & found myself with no energy to do anything other than go to work and sit on the couch. Pregnancy was a lot harder than I thought. I gained 44lbs during my pregnancy, which I was not happy about, but according to my doctors, I had actually done very well. I ended up having to get a c-section on March 6th and on April 19th when I got approval from my doctor to work out again, I started my CrossFit Foundations on April 20th. I wasn't waiting any longer than needed. I was ready to get back in shape and determined to shed this baby weight. So, as of today, only 2+ months into CrossFit, I'm about 8- 9lbs away from my pre-pregnancy weight & feel extremely positive about the direction I'm headed. I can't wait to see where my body is in a few months time.

The daily life of an engineer eating treats and sitting all day started to take a toll on me. My energy levels were low and body not ideal. When I contacted Chris he immediately got things set up for us to discuss how things would work including setting goals and we started training 2 days later! When we began I was nervous because I lacked any real gym experience, but he did a great job of evaluating where I was at and going from there. He also set a nutrition plan to follow and helped get it started by going grocery shopping with me where he teaches about best food choices and what to look for. One thing that I really like is that he didn't encourage the use of supplements, but instead a natural organics and real food approach. We track progress with monthly pictures and body measurements. Over these 10 months I've been able to achieve great results by gaining 25+ pounds and lowering body fat about 3-4 percent at the same time. We track workouts (reps/sets/times) with a fitness book he provided. Every day is an adventure with Chris because you never know what workout he is going to throw at you. It's always a good mix that constantly challenges you to level up. He is always positive and there to encourage you to push through them. If you can't do something it's not a problem, he'll find a way to work your way up to it. Other than physical, he has also helped me grow emotionally and mentally. He suggests new activities to try, as well as books, movies and different audio to listen to. He is great at lending a ear while discussing different topics and offering advice where he can. He believes physical is just one area of fitness and will provide you the tools to excel in all areas. I've been able to gain mass while getting lean. With three kids and my own business, my schedule is nonstop, and I finally realized I needed a personal trainer to keep me accountable and help me prioritize my health. I'll admit I was feeling uneasy at first since I don't usually like having strangers in my home (even backyard). I also expected most trainers might be overly intense for my personality. What I really needed was calmness, flexibility, and understanding. I shared my concerns with Zane, and he matched me with TROY. Four years later, I am still training with Troy!! Troy is incredibly patient and thoughtful. He customizes every workout to my abilities and limitations. I went from back pain that could keep me in bed for weeks at a time to now having no major flare-ups for years. The pain is still there occasionally due to the disc bulging, but it's minimal and my quads are now strong enough that I can squat and lift properly. I could only do twice sessions a week - went from simple "good mornings" to heavier lifting, I definitely felt good within a few short weeks. On top of that, Troy has always worked around my "impossible" schedule. I've literally run into sessions straight from Zoom calls and then dashed out afterward to pick up kids. I often start our workouts stressed from work, and his calm demeanor and encouragement leave me feeling not only stronger, but mentally lighter. It feels like fitness and therapy combined Earlier this year I also fractured my knee. When it was only about 70% healed and still stiff, Troy built completely different programs that protected my knee while still helping me progress. He writes a new plan for me every single session!! In four years we have almost never repeated the same workout, so it's never boring. I'm now 47 and feel stronger than I did at 40. I started boxing with him also! I am truly grateful for both Zane and Troy, their professionalism, kindness, and genuine passion for helping people are very clear.
