We rented a tux from Formal Spot and it's a disaster. We just got the tux yesterday at about 5:30 pm (6 days before our wedding). My fiance immediately tried it on and first of all it was huuuuge!!!! We ordered a "slim fit" tux, if this is slim fit than what would regular fit be?? The fact that the measurements were wrong is irrelevant really because the tux itself is insanely cheap looking. It reminds me of a Halloween costume (or a waiter at the Olive Garden). My fiance understandably was freaking out, so we packed it right back up and drove right out to Winter Garden Village to find a replacement. Luckily we were able to rent a new Calvin Klein tux at Men's Warehouse for only $30 more and we can pick it up tomorrow (4 days before the wedding). All this being said, the ladies at Formal Spot were very nice leading up to this, which made me hesitant to write such a negative review. Maybe their in-store formal dresses are a different story but the outsourced tuxes are just awful and I would hate for another groom to make the same mistake we did to save a couple bucks. read more

My sister took my niece to this store in Winter Garden, to look for Prom dresses. When trying on one of the dresses in a size 4, my niece was rearranging the fabric around her waist. The saleswoman told my 17 year old niece to go on a diet, stop drinking soda and eating sugar, then the dress will fit her nicely around her stomach and hips. The saleswoman's comments to the 17 year old child who is not even overweight were unprofessional, detrimental, and down right rude!!! In this day in age, the last thing children need is complexes about their weight, especially when they are of a truly healthy weight. I could just imagine what this saleswoman says to children and women who truly are overweight. I highly recommend NOT TO TAKE YOUR DAUGHTERS to this store. read more

IF I COULD GIVE THIS STORE ZERO STARS I WOULD! I went to the store today to try on bridesmaid dresses after having lunch in Winter Garden Village with the Bride. She is allowing us to pick our own dresses as long as they are light purple and chiffon, however her opinion matters to me so I brought her with me. Now I understand that I am not the smallest person in the world, I typically wear a clothes ranging from 12-16 depending on the item (we all know that clothes run funny these days), and at David's bridal I have ordered dresses recently for other weddings that range in size from14-18 because their sizes run small for some dresses and normal for others. Because I am not a tiny woman I am hesitant to try on smaller sizes so when I shop I only look for dresses that are in the 12-14 range in the style I like. At least this way I know that I might not be able to zip them, however I should at least put them on and get a general idea of fit. Usually bridal store have some sort of clip in the fitting rooms so you can clip the dresses together as if they are zipped so you can see how they should fit, or cinch them if they are too large, however apparently this was not an option for me today. So once I picked a few dresses the woman helping me walked me into the fitting room. She then proceeded to HOLD THEM UP TO ME. This is NOT what I consider "trying something on." I was then told that I could just order a dress in my size, however I would obviously be made to pay for said dress if it was ordered. I don't know about you, but I would NEVER order a $200+ dress that is likely non returnable, because often times bridesmaids dresses are not, without even being allow to try and try it on. If this wasn't bad enough she also kept saying "well you obviously can not try these dresses on because we don't carry your size here." So basically I was being told that I was too fat to shop at the store, and that I might ruin the precious goods in the store. The tone in which she made these comments was completely offensive and not necessary. The small amount of effort it would take to allow me to try on these designer dresses was clearly too much to handle for your associate. I was horrified and beyond offended by this service experience, as was the bride who was with me who wears the same size as me. She was planning to have the other 2 girls in the bridal party come to this store as well because we loved the selection you had online, however this will no longer be the case. I have worked in customer service based positions for most of my life and I have never experienced anything like this! It was so similar to the scene from Pretty Woman (only weight was the issue rather than money) I thought it was a joke. However when I realized I was seriously not going to be allowed to try anything on I was so disappointed by this experience all I could do was walk out of the store. This type of service is not acceptable in any capacity, and I hope you do not treat all your customers who are not the perfect sample size this way. I can understand not wanting a size 14 girl to attempt to squeeze herself into a size 4 because obviously that would damage the dress, however making me feel as though I was too fat to even be allowed to use the fitting room for it's intended purpose was seriously disturbing. read more

Okay... fair selection. Prices fair to on the high side, but then again it could be comparable to the region. I have seen prices lower on the exact same selection in box formal stores. Also there are other places in the Orlando area that have more selection as well. SHOP AROUND BEFORE PURCHASING. The dress that was purchased here, I found several hundred dollars cheaper online. Also alterations were done, NOT IMPRESSED WITH SEAMSTRESS. I could have had a girl scout do a better job! To top it off, the seamstress said we put on weight. She outright called us "fat." I want to know how does bone structure change? It only changes when something is taken in too much! Who I think is the owner, appeared to be concered with our issues with the seemstress. But then it could be she was worried about the sale. SHOP AROUND BEFORE PURCHASING and don't fall for the "only one" or "it might not be here when you come back" line.... Do not go here if you are a normal sized person. First, when I arrived, I was not greeted or given any information on the way the appointment would work. The website is deceiving by making you think that there are more dresses than what is available. We were told to pick out some that we liked and then I could try them on. There was no indication that the sample dresses had a specific size. That being said, they only carried Small through Large dresses to try on. The large is apparently a size 10. I wear a 12 in normal clothes. The older woman who was helping me put the dresses on then proceeded to smack my thighs and say that I needed at least a 2x or a 3x to fit in any of those dresses. Not a good way to make a bride feel good about herself and want to purchase anything from you. This was an awful experience, and I wouldn't wish it on any bride. read more

My daughter had a very negative experience at Formal Spot. She was trying on a dress for prom SIZE SMALL. My daughter is between a size 2-4. While she was looking at herself in the mirror she was moving the fabric on her stomach area. The sales person then said to my daughter "you should go on a diet stop drinking soda and eating sugar. This will make your stomach and hip area smaller." Can you imagine someone telling this to your daughter while she is looking for prom dresses? This just about crushed my daughters self esteem. This place is awful! Rule number one don't tell your clientele to go on a diet if you want to sell your dresses. Unbelievable! The worst customer service ever! read more

Great little shop. Nice couple of ladies running the place. I was running short on time for my wedding and hadn't found a dress, so this place really saved my butt. I tried on a few great dresses and the seamstress was super helpful getting me in and finding good sizes that fit my height- I am 6'2". I shopped Around a bit online and the prices in store we're pretty even with any of the online stores. Found a great dress that was on sale though and I am very happy with all the fixings that came with it! I was so excited to find Lisa and Terri at the Formal Spot after having an extremely discouraging experience at one of the infamous bridal spots in Altamonte. I was looking for a blush colored dress; which are difficult to find. Thankfully Lisa and Terri were here to support me and help find the perfect dress. We tried on lots of dresses without feeling rushed or that we were inconveniencing them. They helped me find the perfect style dress; mermaid which made me feel amazing and not in any way insecure. After, Lisa researched several blush dress options by the designer I loved. While they didn't have the blush dress I was looking for in-house, Lisa tracked down a sample of the dress I wanted to try from Maggie Sortoro; the Divina (its so chic, modern and fabulous)! I chased this dress around Orlando trying to meet up with it at a store to try it on. I was never successful at this because the dress was so popular. But because my experience with Lisa and Terri was so incredible and they made me feel so confident in the style I loved, I bought the blush Divina without ever trying it on! I had tried on the same designer and the same style the main difference was the color; so it wasn't too much of a risk. I didn't have to buy the dress from them, but I wanted to because they earned my business with impeccable customer service and patience. I'm sure I am not the only bride they have treated so well; you can just tell they are genuine and enjoy their craft! Lisa and Terri are a perfect team. The experience is very much a boutique environment so you don't just feel like 'a number'. I also found my bridesmaids dresses there and my mom purchased her gown there too. They really go over and beyond to make sure you look exactly how you imagined on your wedding day...but better! I can't wait for my dress fitting this week and to wear the finished product in February! Thank you Lisa and Terri! I've visited this location a couple of times looking for formal dresses for events. The associate greeted and I informed her I was just browsing for a dress and said that should be plenty in my size. I'm a 0-2 and I had difficulty rummaging through the dresses. They were not sized properly and some of the dresses were secondhand. Since the store is small, I feel like the staff should organize by size and categorize by formal and informal. The associates were nice and helpful but the selection itself is disappointing for a boutique that should be selling high end items. read more

I must say one of the most pleasant experiences I had shopping for a wedding gown. I called to make an appointment and Was able to go the same day. This one on one service was perfect. I was reluctant to search anywhere else because I had an awful experience at David's Bridal and at Alfred Angelo's I wasn't really impressed. From the minute I walked in I felt welcomed. It was my first trip out looking for a wedding gown and I didn't know what to expect but by the end of my visit I left with high expectations, and my eye on the most perfect dress. Lisa, the owner, was nothing short of wonderful, she was laid-back, but professional, saw my vision, and was completely dedicated (and patient) towards helping me find THE perfect dress. The customer service is nice enough but don't go here if you wear anything above a size 16. They don't have that many dresses in store for normal size ladies, for plus size they have three. I went here because they advertise that they have plus size dresses. I had already gone to David's Bridal so I was curious to see what kind of selection they had. You are ushered off to find dresses on your own which is kind of nice compared to other shops. But that's where the fun ends, you realize they don't have much of a selection at all. So, if your dress size is above a 16, go to David's Bridal, much bigger selection, much less of a hassle and you'll actually get help pulling dresses. Underwhelming at best, don't go here, you will be disappointed. I looked them up online and saw they carried some designers I liked, and decided to go in. It was my first stop in wedding dress shopping and I was really looking forward to it. The shop had a limited selection and the owner simply shooed me to the side to search for dresses, didn't offer to help or aid in the process. When I did select a few to try on I was put it a small room, with stained carpet to try on the dress and the same spot to look at it. Not the experience I was looking for and I was blown away by the lack of customer service. Go any where else in Orlando, you deserve better. read more

I visited this shop a few days ago and was not impressed. The two women working there were not very helpful and seemed to just want a sale. I tried on a white wedding dress and she showed me a pair of ivory sandals that she said would look fabulous with my dress. IVORY sandals with a white dress. Wow. Lastly, like a previous reviewer mentioned, there was definitely a Pretty Woman scene vibe going on. I wasn't dressed my best because I knew I'd be visiting many shops and trying on dresses all day. And oddly enough, the younger girl working had so much cleavage showing it was distracting. I ended up buying my dress that day from a different, more welcoming shop. read more

IT DOESN'T EVEN DESERVE ONE STAR... We had a HORRIBLE experience at the Formal Spot in the Winter Garden Village. What the seamstress said she could do, she did not and even went further to make matters worse. The prom dress my daughter bought online needed some altering at the top as the bra could be seen through the dress. We brought the dress in and the seamstress said she could hide it for us. After two weeks, I called to see if the dress was complete, and was told it should be ready in a couple days. The next week, I called and again and was told that they were altering dresses in the order of prom dates. I expressed that we didn't have shoes and needed it ASAP as my friend was going to hem it for us. Finally, after four weeks, we got a call to come try the dress on (our prom was one week away, we needed shoes so my friend could hem the dress, which I had told the store manager each time I called). When my daughter tried on the dress, not only could you still see the bra through the dress, the seamstress had cut the dress off. I'm not sure how she decided where to cut it off because we never had the hem measured as we still didn't have shoes. When I brought it to the store manager's attention, she said that it must have been a misunderstanding between the seamstress and us. That the seamstress said we told her to cut it off - which we would have done as we didn't have any shoes. I expressed to the manager that it wasn't on our invoice to cut the dress off, I had no idea if the hem was correct as we still didn't have shoes. I asked for my alteration money back as the dress was not altered as I was told it could be AND they cut it off without permission. The manager never responded. If I would have been told the bra could not be hidden at the time we brought the dress in, I would have sent it back to the company we bought it from. Very disappoint and angry with the management of this store. Will never go back and I will make sure my friends know about our experience. read more

OMG such RUDENESS!!! I was looking for a bridal gown. So I did some google searches and specifically went to Winter Garden Village to check out this store. Well, when I walked in I was not greeted at all. There was one girl in the front and one helping a customer in the back. I ignored it at first. But after 15 min and wanting to try on 3 dresses. I decided this was too long. So my mom had to exit the store to take a call. I decided to test the girl and go to another part of the store. The girl NEVER said a word or acknowledged my presence. The woman in the back came in the front. I assume (with good faith) that she assumed that the girl had spoken to me so she didn't speak to me. I was like this is crazy. So after 25 mintues of me ONLY ME in the front of the store I saw somebody else come in. They greeted her and asked if she needed help. I was like wow, is this racist (im black and she was white)? So I went back to pull out the gowns I was looking at. Well then this black lady with like 6 people came in and the girl immediately left the desk that she had stayed at my entire visit adn greeted her and was joking and laughing with her. I was like wow. I do not look that bad to be ignored so bad. So after 50 mintues in the store and not a single person talking to me I left. I then went to Minerva's. I was greeted by a nice friendly staff and bought my dress that day. read more
