Probably the best meal I've had in my two weeks in Ireland. I'm partial to Neapolitan style pizza, and Forno did not disappoint! The pizza dough is tender, and when combined with the wood fired oven it gives the crust a wonderful texture. I had a diavola with the buffalo mozzarella and it was wonderful. The side salad was large enough to serve two, and the greens were very fresh. The chocolate fondant - oh my goodness - it was so good. Like a chocolate lava cake in American restaurants, it wasn't overwhelming or cloyingly sweet like US desserts. The depth of flavor from the dark chocolate, the gooey center, and the vanilla gelato all complemented each other so well. This place may be a little pricey (but what isn't in Dublin?), but if you appreciate a great wood-fired pizza and fantastic desserts, it's well worth your time. The service was excellent as well, and the gentle music and dim lighting made the ambience quite relaxing after a busy morning playing tourist in Dublin. read more

This place was amazing! Who would have thought you'd have to go to Ireland to find amazing Italian food? We were wandering the streets of Temple Bar looking for dinner, and since it was past 9 p.m. a lot of restaurants were no longer taking minors - (my daughter is 16). However, with a short wait we were seated upstairs and the service was fantastic! The food was fantastic, and I'd sooooo go back if afforded the opportunity. You all should give 'em a go too. I came here for a late lunch/early dinner on my first day in Dublin. I visited this restaurant based on a recommendation from a friend who was there last April and enjoyed her meal. I opted for pizza because my stomach felt a little funny from traveling, and I figured that any sort of stew or anything like that would be too heavy. The place is small, but because I visited during off peak hours, I was seated right away. I only had water to drink, but I did like that she brought me a glass and a carafe of water. I ordered the BUFALINA (SAN MARZANO DOP, BUFFALO MOZZARELLA, PARMESAN, BASIL, EXTRA VIRGIN OLIVE OIL), which cost €16.50. I thought it was very good. I ate about half of it, and had the remaining portions boxed up for later since my hotel room had a kitchenette with an oven. The buffalo mozzarella was so good and the dog very light and airy! Yummy Italian food! A tad pricey! I enjoyed pasta and so did my boyfriend! The pizza was also good, along with th calamari!

Pros: Didn't have reservation, but got a table easily. Service was decent. Cons: Prices were hefty for what you get. Prosecco was €40, well above what we've paid for the same elsewhere. Veggie lasagna tasted like it was from freezer aisle at grocery store: watery, tasteless. When asked why I only had two bites I said I didn't care for it. The server then took it away & that was that. My opinion is why ask if there was something wrong with the food but then not offer a solution or apologies? There's really no point in acting interested in the customers dining experience, if you don't do anything with that information. The garlic bread was crisp/burnt & not really bread at all as it was just super thin pizza dough you could snap in half. $107 for a pizza, lasagna, prosecco, bottle of still water & garlic bread. A lovely place for an Italian meal close to Temple Bar but away from (most of) its craziness. Dame Street is crowded, so the people-watching is good from the tables on the sidewalk. Sitting there for 90 minutes, we observed a loud street preacher telling us the end was near, a rolling rapper performing from the street, a bar fight spilling out onto the sidewalk from the place next door, a panhandler or two, and a lot of diverse Dublin locals and tourists. Our meal started a little weak. After being seated, it took some time before we received any service. And the Maraschino Cherry Old Fashioned, a special on their cocktail menu, was awful. But, everything picked up after that, and we had a very nice and delicious experience. My wife's pizza was delicious (with plenty to take home for the next day) and I found my pasta all'amatriciana a bit mild than others I've had, but was very fresh, flavorful and plentiful. The pasta was perfectly 'al dente'. After the slow start, our server was very attentive and quite friendly. We'd definitely revisit Forno 500 while in Dublin. read more

we arrived at 5.30 on a Thursday place was packed upstairs and down manager was more than friendly and a festive atmosphere in Dublin with the Christmas Markets across the street at Dublin Castle . I ordered Arancini , vegetable Lasagna with a small side salad My food was amazing and my partner ordered Piccante Pizza he was very happy with his we shared a Tiramisu unbelievable !!!! The food was fresh from scratch the atmosphere was cosy ,the service waiter checked back a few min after delivering food and feeling welcomed upon arrival with a a smile made for a wonderful experience we will be back and have already organised another night w friends. What a great find we happened to walk by. After ten days in Ireland and plenty of chips, we found we were craving some pizza. They have one of the only authentic Italian built pizza ovens in Dublin, and it definitely made a difference in pizza quality. I didn't have high expectations for the pizza to be as good as the pizza back home in NY but I was blown away. It was the best pizza I have ever had. It's Neopolitan so the crust stays soft. It brick oven was built by artisans from Italy! They were very accommodating to our request for a gluten free meal. It's small space but if you are in Dublin this is a must stop. read more

Our experience at forno 500 was bad to say the least. bruschetta was soggy, french fries (really thick cut chips) cold and uncooked in middle, pizza also soggy and missing ingredients and when server was advised of missing ingredients made a face at my girlfriend and I as if we were inconveniencing her. Male server also made a number of comments directed at my girlfriend which made her and myself incredibly uncomfortable, the same male server also when advised of our bad experience went on to say that's just how pizza is made in Italy. all in all, food was bad, service was worse. read more

The restaurant looked amazing! Stylish waiters, nice jazzy music... a big window showed the kitchen, wood fired pizza... The service was incompetent and rude. The rudeness could have been a reaction to our very polite critique of the wet, mushy, tasteless pizze we got. Me and my Italian friend had big expectations and we were let down - big time... I don't expect authentic Italian pizza... but taste and quality should be in order. Went here with a group of students, 17 of us in total. Students aren't the richest people on earth, so the way this group was treated earns Forno 500 a subzero star. First they told us that if wewanted dinner, we had only 1,5 hour before it would be too busy (sounds all right, cause 17 is a large group). Then they told as we had to pay an extra 10% becvause we were in a large group. What????? Never heard of a practice like this.... But all right, we seated and one of the leader students asked on forhand if we could pay by the person, so not all together. Wasn't a problem. OK. Music was nice but far too loud. Waiters didn't speak Italian (I do, but they didn't understand). Pizza's are mentioned (on the menue) to be not crisp, because that is the Napolitan way. Well, undercooked dough isn't to be excused by it's heritage, especially when the prize for a pizza is between € 12 and € 16, plus the already mentioned 10%. When we got to paying, it didn't add up. We got a bill for the 17, not seperated. But now we know why. They had charged an extra bottle of wine (€ 25) and some dishes (also something like € 30) which we hadn't ordered. It took about half an hour to get this sorted, took some more time because the waiter didn't know how to add the 10%. And worst of all: no apologies. Bly me, this was an extra € 55 on a bill of less than € 500 .... My advice: never enter this restaurant, unless you want to be cajoled. It's a tourist trap with at beste mediocre food, high prices and untrustworthy personel. read more

It was early bird time and the restaurant was only a quarter full. My buddy & I sat down at a small table next to the bar. There were several waiters walking back and forth, despite the small amount of patrons-must look busy now. I ordered a Guinness with my preset meal and it was sour. So I ordered a Patroni instead. The starter was ok, the fettuccine bolognese was awful & tasteless. Told the 3rd waiter to help us-as we didn't have a dedicated one. He apologized & said he'd tell the chef. Ordered tiramisu & it was just ok. Watch out for chipped glassware & dirty utensils. Overall, don't waste your money or time. read more

Forno 500 happened to be the restaurant below our Dublin Airbnb, so in our wait to check-in, we stopped in for lunch. While a small restaurant, it made up in its excellent service and mouthwatering food. Our waiter was so kind and attentive during our visit. The lunch special is an appetizer and either a pizza or pasta entree, so I ordered the Goats Cheese Salad as my appetizer, with the Margherita pizza for my entree. The salad was beyond good and a really filling appetizer, but the Margherita pizza was even better. It was so fresh and baked perfectly. Definitely the best pizza I've had in a while. Also the pizza was fairly big so even without the appetizer, their portion sizes are excellent for the price. Such a delicious meal and worth checking out Forno 500! read more

Super average. They didn't have three different dishes from the menu which happened to be two of which I wanted :( major bummer. Also they don't have any Alfredo or creamy pasta sauce. Which was what my daughter wanted. The fried potatoes not good and drenched in oil. The pizza was ok but soggy :/ the stuffed shell pasta was probably the only good dish we ordered. Had a lovely experience dining here! The service was great. They have a lunch special with options for one starter and one pizza or pasta entree for 15€ - good value. Also enjoyed the cocktail menu. The 10% service charge for larger parties mentioned by the prior reviewer was clearly noted on the menu, and seems understandable given that there is no other service charge included. This is customary in US and similar to the discretionary service charges we experienced in UK. So I didn't find that out of the ordinary. The menu also notes that the pizza is not crispy style, so I'm not sure why that was a surprise to previous reviewers either. We found it delicious and the ingredients were very fresh. I would give this restaurant 0.5 stars or none at all. The service was okay and we did not have to wait too long for food. However, the pizza was not good at all. It was burnt and did not taste like it was woodfired pizza. (very bitter like eating coal) soggy, bland and the cheese was not even melted thoroughly. I was on the verge of complaining but remained patient. I enjoyed and appreciated the chips and still water more. The mussels on the seafood pizza were spoiled, there was a weird and unpleasant scent. My expectations were high as the atmosphere and restaurant looked good and a few friends recommended this place. The food pricing was alright but not cheap at all (for what we got, it was not worth it) so I expected A1 quality. I'm utterly disappointed and will not be back. We just wasted our money, would be nice if we got a refund. At least the mints were good enough. read more

This is probably the best pizza and Italian food Restaurant that I have ever been to causing me to go two out of three days that I spent in Dublin Ireland. Both Pino and Christian treated us amazingly. I instantly felt transported to Italy as soon as I came into the the door.
