Far exceeded my expectations! While on holiday in Dublin, I was craving pasta and this place hit the spot! We were able to get reservations just a few hours before. Food was delish. Pizza with prosciutto and pizza with salami pepperoni and ham both delish and different! The Mixta salad was nummy. The grilled chicken breast was very dry, mom wasn't a fan. The Taggliatelle pasta with chicken and mushrooms in a creamy garlic white sauce was delish. The red wine was good. Service was great. They didn't miss a beat and that place stays very crowded and even with big groups. The ambience is loud but cozy and business family or nice every day dinner vibes. Amazing find after touring the Book of Kells, Trinity and the Dublin Castle. This restaurant is right across the street and has a two item lunch special. We ordered the linguine with vongole and muscles, and green salad. They were not put off that we were sharing. (We have dinner reservations in four more hours). It was amazing! The aroma alone made my mouth water and the flavor was outstanding. The salad was made with lovely fresh vegetables. We have decided to cancel our steakhouse reservation for tomorrow night in lieu of booking here instead. read more

My wife liked the food she ordered, my filet steak was very tough but I did enjoy the salad. The service was bad, not one person seemed to smile and we felt very rushed. It was the first time that I have never left a tip. Due to a lack in welcoming the ambiance was not great. It was only today that I did a bit more research and found a lot of people seem to have the same issues as us. Sorry but I won't be going back again nor recommending it and I hate to say that about any place. read more

Waking down the road in Ireland, I came across Toscana. What caught my eye was the gluten free Pana Cotta. The staff were very helpful, the place is very clean, and the food was served promptly. I order a salad and had them add goat's cheese. It was a lot of goat cheese! This was a very large salad served with rocket, lots of olives, as peppers. It was a feast in itself. I also had the soup of the day without bread. It was a bean and cabbage soup and was both tasty and filling as well. The Pana Cotractors was very nice and was served without the extra sugar. They even anticipated this. ;) Top notch dessert. I loved it. My impression of the place is that it is a very nice Italian restaurant with some nice woodwork on the walls, the seating is very comfortable and extra efforts were made to make sure my lunch was perfect. The bill was 17.40 euro. WOW!!! What a deal! read more

Soggy pizza? Manager loudly yelling at the waiter? PASS. Came here on a Saturday afternoon and had the 10 Euro lunch special - A starter and a main dish. Decided to go with the pizza since it was what I was craving. Chose spinach, sweet corn and chicken for the toppings. Here's the 411 - If you're going to get the pizza (which you shouldn't because there was not enough sauce so I had to cop some from my friend's pasta dish just to make it okay-tasting) don't get the chicken on it because it tastes like they killed the bird 3 weeks ago and left it out in the sun to dry, then threw it on your pizza) The verdict - don't let the lunch special fool you. If you keep walking straight for about a block or so, you'll run into a restaurant that was featured on the travel channel, called Crackbird (which i didn't find out until after the fact that I was stuffed with dry pizza). read more

We came in here on our first day at Dublin for an early dinner. The restaurant is near the Temple Bar and City Center. We were seated downstairs near the kitchen and the seats were pretty cozy. We started off with Zuppa Del Giorno and Zuppa Ribollita Soups. For the main, we had Lasagne Vegetariana and Pollo Limone. And for dessert we had Tiramisu. We were in Dublin for three days before we left to Galway and on the last day we decided that we needed to try another type of cuisine in Ireland. For every meal, we ate at pubs and cafes and honestly, we just needed a good pizza or pasta dish for our last dinner... & somehow we found the PERFECT spot! Super clean, very nice interior, comfy seats! Good service! Just ask for Mick! What an incredible experience at Toscana! Our caprese salad, pasta dishes, and desserts were top of the notch! Our server Mick was wonderful! His hospitality stood out amongst the rest which definitely made our visit worthwhile! The restaurant was moderately busy that night but we were greeted with a warm welcome right away, given the specials, food and wine recommendations and overall provided with the highest quality of customer service and satisfaction. Since we were interested in getting to know a little about the locals of Dublin before leaving, Mick was very personable and informative about the people, himself, and the city. He shared amazing travel stories and urged us to check out some awesome spots before we left the city. Without Toscana and Mick, I don't know if I could say I would be back to visit Dublin. This restaurant is great! The food is fresh, the service is excellent, and prices are good. We were in Dublin for 4 days in July and ate there 2 times! We stumbled upon it for lunch and enjoyed it so much we made reservations for dinner a couple of days later. Our dinner plans changed and our group changed from the 6 for which we had a reservation to 10. It was pouring rain and the host accommodated us by finding a table on a Saturday night! Beautiful salad of arugula, walnuts, pomegranate, pear, goat cheese with a lemon vinagrette. Our main dish was the ravioli porcini. Highly recommended. I had heard a lot about this restaurant before I came here, mainly from my friend who was getting married and is obsessed with this place. He chose this restaurant for his wedding dinner and it was fantastic. We had a group of 50 for dinner and the staff were amazing. They were so helpful and pleasant, they made sure every single person was taken care of, topped up our wine quite a bit, checked on ALL of us for our food. They worked very hard. We had a four course meal and it was delicious from start to finish. There was 6 starter options, 8 main options and 4 dessert options, along with tea or coffee to finish. I chose the hot wings for starter, the chicken literally fell off the bone. Divine! They were very spicy but absolutely lovely. I chose tagliatelle alla Toscana for dinner, more chicken.. The pasta and sauce was beautiful, so creamy and full of flavour. I couldn't handle any more chicken so I left that alone. The portions were huge. I could barely finish it. I took a break, along with everyone else! Then my dessert came out, I ordered the lemon cream and biscotti. TO DIE FOR. So creamy, bursting with flavour and a lovely tangy aftertaste. The biscotti could have been a slight but crunchier but that's just how I like it. Finished with an espresso and I was doneeee. I could barely move. The owner came to see how everyone was doing, she's an absolute diamond. She made sure everything went perfectly. Her staff are an absolute credit to her. Fantastic restaurant. read more

I had read great reviews of Toscana and when it was a friend's birthday a couple of weeks ago, I was delighted to here that's where we were going. A group of us went here and what a fun night we had! Firstly, the food was delicious. I went for the seabass which was gorgeous, and my friend beside me had the chicken with three cheeses, wrapped in parma ham and smothered in creamy sauce. Basically a heart attack waiting to happen! I think the cheeses were ricotta, mozzarella and gorgonzola. Now, there was wine involved, so I may have misinterpreted this! Between us all (there were about 10 of us) the bill was about €45 a head which for a 3 course meal and wine on tap was pretty good! Oh and since it as my friend's bday, all the waiters came out with a cake and sang her happy birthday. So funny/cringey for her! read more

Very tasty. The best Italian food I had while I was in Dublin (which, admittedly, was only three times). I highly recommend the suppli appetizer. It's basically like a giant thick mozzarella cheese stick with rice in it, but it was really, really good. My entree, carbonara, was not quite as good, but still tasty. You can usually judge an Italian place by their carbonara, and I give the carbonara here a B (above average). The pasta and sauce were good, but the pork could've been a little more flavorful. Finally, for dessert, I got their puff pasty. It was very light and creamy. A good way to end the meal. I definitely recommend this place. 4.5 stars. read more

My wife and I were reaching the end of two weeks touring southern Ireland when we chanced to walk past Toscana on Dame Street in Dublin. By this time we were ready for a change in our diet and Italian food seemed certain to fill the bill. Immediately after being seated a waitress asked if we wanted to order something to drink. I responded that we would like a few minutes to study the menu and would order drinks shortly. Before I had a chance to relax in my chair two more wait staff sequentially approached us for our drink orders. We must have looked very thirsty; but it was a little irritating. After the wait staff gave us time to consider our options we ordered glasses of Prosecco; but things didn't improve. The wine was almost totally flat; but that happens sometimes in certain restaurants if you don't order the whole bottle. So we moved on to a starter and ordered the Calamari & Vegatable Fritti with Tomato Chilli dip. For €13.95 I should have paid greater attention to the follow-on description; "Deep fried vegetables with calamari rings ......" as the four calamari rings were definitely in the minority. However, if you're going to stretch your culinary repertoire with something as common as calamari your performance needs to be perfect; the Chilli dip made me reach for something to put the fire out. There was no chance to taste or even feel the calamari. Let me have some marinara sauce please. But our waitress didn't know what that was. I suggested that someone in the kitchen would know, and before long some arrived; it was warm and good and went a long way in calming my bruised taste buds. At this point our expectation for the entrees was greatly diminished. But here the adage to keep your expectations low was overruled. I had the Cannelloni Di Carne and found it excellent and would order it again. Unfortunately my wife didn't fare a well with the Tagliatelle Con Pollo E Funghi which she found lacking the expected complexity of flavors and seasoning. She thought the sauce and mushrooms were good. But the dish would have benefited from some seasoning and a tastier chicken. With the mains we chose glasses of the Vallpolicella Ripasso which suited us very well but were surprised by the very miserly pours. Despite the many positive reviews, awards and accolades displayed on the men's room walls I felt that the meal's value fell far short of the €105 cost. read more

We loved our experience here. I would absolutely recommend coming here for lunch. Their specials are incredibly reasonable and you get a lot of food for what you pay for. There are three lunch menus with varying prices from 11-14 euro, all are worth it. You get a starter and main entree with each lunch special. We had the bruschetta, crostini di Umbria, and the polpettine di pesce for our starters. All of them were amazing! Our main dishes were flavorful and filling. We had the soprano pasta bake, fresh hake portofino and penna alla norma which is the only one not pictured. The pasta bake is served in a mini skillet and was more than enough to fill my teenage brothers and dad. The hake was creamy and more than filling. Lastly the Norma was simple but the sauce had a great flavor you would not expect. I hope to visit again before I leave Dublin! The staff, atmosphere, and food were all a 5/5! read more

I discovered this restaurant a couple of years ago when a friend suggested it for dinner one night. I have since been going at least once a month. Been an Italian food fanatic there is nothing I don't like about this place. From it's great list of wines to it's snug layout, it really is the perfect place for a get together. The food is good too. As a continual customer I have worked my way through the mouth watering menu and have not yet come across a dish I did not like. Just the other day I shared the anti-pasta starter and it was such a portion we were full by the time the mains were served. As Kate M reported in a previous review that the staff sang happy birthday to her friend, it is commonplace and adds that extra bit of atmosphere which is great for a party. Complete... Had a first time business trip to Dublin and stayed in a good hotel, in a central part of the city (Jury's), which was local to this restaurant. I had only two full days to experience Dublin proper and enjoyed my time there. As a lone visitor to a partly strange city, I stumbled across this Italian restaurant on my first night in Dublin. I cam by myself, this night and felt welcome. I liked this place and it's decor. The staff were welcoming and well dressed but the food was even better... I came here two nights in a row. On the first night I had the antipasto followed by seafood risotto which was really excellent. On the following evening and with my colleague I passed on starters but had the duck risotto.
