I looked at the left and on the corner was this amazing little bakery that had all these fresh pastries? I had to try one I saw a couple people getting it. It was a cake that said melon cake. It looked like it had apple slices and was freshly baked. Some of the things are for the price itself and some of them they weigh items when they cut it. The cake was phenomenal. I am so glad I found this Bakery.

We saw what looked like the most delicious pastry we had ever seen in the window, went inside, ordered it and proceeded to devour the absolute best pastry on this Earth. Sound like a hyberbole? It's not. In the 3 days we were in Florence, we ate this pastry 3 times. By our 3rd time in, the nice women who worked there let us know when they closed in case we would be back. We would have been, but our train to Venice was on a Sunday and they sadly are closed that day. We can't remember what the pastry was called but we took a picture of it. Here is my tip, buy a ticket to Florence, go to Forno Canapa, show them this picture and buy this pastry.

I stopped by Gilli for the first time around 9pm on a Sunday night. The place stayed open night, which was very convenient especially since we've been having late dinners. I had the chance to enjoy a sit down in their outdoor patio. It's located right next to a piano bar and other busking performers when there wasn't entertainment at the bar next door. Ordering was interesting. You don't pay at the counter but rather at the corner register for everything to-go. On one of the nights when we grabbed a couple of drinks at Gilli, the server loaded my desserts order on a card that I redeemed to my waiter. Then my desserts were served to me a few moments later. So I had tried ricciarelli at another pasticceria down the street, but Gilli's were far more superior. The almond flavor was more prominent, the texture was much softer, and the powdered sugar wasn't broken. Loved it so much that I got boxes of it for myself and loved ones. I had the pleasure of trying all their "mignons" (mignardises) and was particularly fond of the lemon with pistachios, chocolate passion fruit, and coconut chocolate ones. That said, I always had to have ricciarelli among the little bites.
