Newly renovated building to two full suites. We were traveling as a family, with a 4 yr old and grandparents, and it was everything we needed. The finishings were gorgeous and brand new. The space is huge. Pullout couch was comfortable. Full kitchen, stocked with plates, cups, dish towels, soap, sponges, drying rack meant we didn't have to dine out every meal. For a large group, the two interconnecting suites was great, the kid could wander around, we could have family over to visit in one living room while the kid napped in the other, etc. So happy to have found it.

It is within walking distance of the town square and all the venders in the downtown area. The daily rate of $32.00 seems reasonable. The couple who operate the park are friendly and helpfull. The park is attractive, there is laundry facilities (we didn't use them) & bath and shower facilities if you need them ( we didn't use them either). Now the NEGATIVES: If it rains very much the park turns to lots and lots of mud, which it did the week we were there. The park is older & was designed for older RVs, ie 20-25 ft. long & only needed 30Amp hookups. We tripped the breaker a couple of times. We also had electrical problems with the park hookup as did another RVer, his kept going on and off one day. The park is owned by the operators father who if you have a problem refuses to come to the park. He shows up long enough to create a problem then leaves and the couple who run the place are stuck trying to solve what he caused, she says "you'd just have to know my dad", not a good answer. Two of the 3 entries are difficult to maneuver thru if you have a newer (and longer) RV such as a big 5th wheel. Half the park is on the LOW end of the park and if it does rain very much it becomes a real mess, one guy had to spread hay just to pull out and he didn't have a big trailer either. We had a 4 wheel drive Dodge or we probably would not have been able to pull out since we were on the low side of the park. One guy hit the metal corner post at the entry with his trailer ( mostly his fault but still it is a real problem where it's at but it's protecting the power pole that's also located at the entry) not good either. I gave this park 3 stars mainl because the couple who run it are nice and are "stuck" much like we almost were otherwise I'd rate it a TWO !!If you do reserve a site request one on the high side of the park and you'll be better off.

Last year, we were passing through from a month long RV trip. We only needed a place for the night…read more(not huge Walmart parking lot fans). We wanted a quiet place, where we could rest and take a load off. Man! Did we ever find a hidden gem! The owners were super nice, as well as the seasonal folks who took us for a quick cart ride to see the Fallen Rock. This year, we wanted to get away for 10 days over the 4th of July weekend. We didn't think long before we remembered how much we loved this campground! They were so accommodating! We had the same spot of our one=night visit last year. We met many more of the seasonal folks, and their dogs (we brought ours with us this time!) We have already make a reservation to go in the fall next year for the covered bridge festival. In closing, this is the nicest, cleanest park we have stayed at to date. The owners have obviously put their hearts into this place. They feel like family. Oh, and they put on a fireworks shows that rivals the ones in DC!

I was here once with my brother when he was training for his private pilots license. We went up with an easy take-off and landed pretty smooth. I thanked my brother for not killing me but I suspected the runway had to have been pretty good for him to land on it. Used for private and corporate use, they offer fuel and maitenance services to all. They also have training for those who want to get their private pilots license but I know its not cheap.

I attended this venue for the first time last Saturday, for a lovely outdoor wedding…read more The grounds were beautiful and the timing was perfect. It was a 4:35 wedding, so it was starting to cool off. They have an arbor under which the bridal party stood, and the attendees face west. But because of the tree line for the woods (with creek below that) that run along the west side of the building, there was beautiful speckled shade, and we were not facing any harsh sun. The grass and perennial planting beds were in very nice condition. The receiving line was held outdoors as well, at the entrance to the building on the circular drive under the large open roof. From there guests could see that the catering company (separate contract) set up the beautiful pool patio for a short reception while the wedding party and families did additional pictures. This was perfect because, inside the bar was already open and outside we had tea, water and hors d'oevres to pass the time and visit with other guests. Again, this outdoor area was lovely. There was a lot of standing room and only a handful of chairs and tables. They might consider adding more for an event like this. The front has double doors to/off the foray. Indoors, the facility is painted a cheerful yellow, and the open-beam construction is so pretty that you don't need to dress it up with a lot of decorations. The place is full of windows in the front near where the catering set up food on one side and the wedding cake on the other. But the real show stoppers are the picture windows on the west side. They set up the bridal party table in front of the windows, and I'm sure the pictures were beautiful. It's definitely got an upscale lodge feel (hence the name) with a stone hearth on the south end of the hall and a loft on the north side, where the DJ sets up. That was fun because as the wedding party was announced again at the reception they got to file down the stairs and dance across the dance floor to their seats. The staff was friendly and one even helped with cake cutting, though that apparently wasn't arranged before the event. The caterers (just okay) refused to cut the cake. The bar had a cute chalkboard display furthering the classy country vibe. One thing to consider for us ladies is to get dropped off at the front if you're in heels. The parking lot and the walk to the facility itself is course gravel. It could tear up nice shoes. Beautiful venue on pristine grounds. I just wish it was closer to Indy but I get that not everything can be!

Be warned--an outdoor July wedding at 4:30 in the afternoon is blazing hot. We opted for standing in the shade on a raised deck with a great view of the entire ceremony. This couple provided guests with fans that had the wedding program on one side and their picture on the other. Amidst a pandemic, I'm questioning the choice of fans. Indoors was air conditioned with seating and a bar on the main floor and upstairs. The second floor is a loft with a single row of tables and chairs looking down on main floor. Bartenders were friendly, some of the staff wore masks, some of the time. The air wasn't cooling the building and after a heavy thunderstorm, outside was cooler, so the doors were opened and a huge fan used to get some cross ventilation going. It was actually nicer outside among the tall trees. There's covered outdoor seating and a paved area where many guests hung out. With a DJ playing it was easier to visit and talk outdoors, perhaps safer too. When we returned to our vehicle at the end of the night, we discovered most people parked by us were stuck in mud and the owner was pulling us out with his truck. A little muddy, but no damage done to my SUV and an exciting finish to a fabulous event. AC not working well, overflow parking in what became a muddy mess were the only negatives. I imagine the deluge was atypical, but AC needs attention, not out of their control.

Located inside the Turkey…read moreRun State Park grounds not far from the main entrance, Turkey Run Inn is one of the smaller inns with a relatively modest 61 rooms in the main lodge. Turkey Run Inn definitely pulls off the rustic lodge vibe with a heavy woods decor. There's a full service dining room, Narrows Restaurant, and five buildings with cabin rooms along with five separate cabins. The inn also has more than 5,500 square-feet of meeting space. This was my primary reason for being here, though as I am a government-appointee to one of Indiana's boards (Trails Advisory) we lingered for most of the day and really explored the place. The inn has an indoor heated pool, though it was closed today. It does have some adaptive equipment for those with disabilities. There's also a gift shop here that I found actually quite nice. I ended up buying a Turkey Run State Park refrigerator magnet. There's a cool lounge area, again very rustic, with couches, rocking chairs, games, television, a fireplace (not used if the temp is over 60), and public restrooms. There's a covered veranda with rocking chairs available on the second floor. They have a unique game room, Gobbler's Arcade, open 24-hours (there are exceptions). It has video games, vending machines, a ping pong table. Satellite TV is available, and despite being quite rural there's complimentary wi-fi that worked throughout my visit. I ate at the restaurant upon my arrival. The menu's fairly basic, however, it should satisfy most. I ordered a simple burger with chips and an unsweetened iced tea. The bill came in at about $14. Because I was there with a group, people sort of knew my presence. People were friendly, and the server in the restaurant was quite nice. I did get my always desired refill. I appreciated the front-desk person as she helped me figure out directions - I'd gotten quite lost going to Turkey Run, but had no issues getting back home. The food was good, but nothing stand-out. I'd probably go a bit more experimental next time. I believe they usually go buffet, but I got there sort of close to the end of lunch hour. Still, they were quite hospitable. The Inn has a very nice concrete ramp at the main entrance. There are elevators and lifts as available. This is a very historic building, so accessibility isn't perfect. The lounge area notes per signage that the floor may have dips, etc. (Trust me, it does. Walk/roll carefully). The Inn does have accessible room options. This includes toilet guardrails and wheelchair accessibility. It is pretty basic, but it works. I did find some of the doors a bit heavy. While I found the drive obnoxious, the reward is quite nice with a truly lovely state park. I could easily see myself spending a weekend getaway here. It's also in Parke County (think covered bridges), so lots to do and see here.
