The gentleman on the phone made reservations for us rather than forcing us to go online. The place is very clean and quiet. We did see some families with children, but everyone was very respectful of others. The park has nice size pet areas where you can have the pets off leash and areas where pets are not allowed so the patrons can enjoy the space without having to worry about dogs. We love their dog park, lots of room for a large pup plus a separate small dog park. Also, the staff are very nice and the park is clean and well maintained. Great to have the gift shop right there too. We'd love it if there was one women only shower. There's a women's restroom that once through the code, anyone, kids etc could walk into. Recommend an inside lock for privacy, or a coded door. read more

Great park. Amenities are on point - showers, laundry, indoor pool, playground, dog park, pull through parking, fitness center. The nice part about the laundry is that you don't need quarters, just pay with your phone through an app. The indoor pool was nice because I didn't need to lather the kids in sunblock. While the kids played in the pool with my husband, I took advantage of the adjacent fitness center - there are a couple treadmills, a bike, and a couple other machines. The cool part about the layout is that I could watch my family through the window playing in the pool while I was running on the treadmill. The dog park was big enough for me to use the chuckit with Cocoa, though I did launch the ball over the fence once. I did manage to wear her out and get her some much needed off leash time. The only con is not about the resort but really about the town itself. The pervasive cow poop smell is overwhelming, but that is not specific to the resort. Pretty much everywhere we went in Amarillo had that smell. Just something to be aware of. We would definitely stay here again if we ended up in Amarillo. read more

We stayed for one night on our way west. They offered a Good Sam discount and we booked our site online. Unfortunately, we found that they charge a fee for online booking that basically offset the discount which was disappointing for our one night stay. Had we noticed the fee, we would have called in our reservation instead. Our stay was during the pandemic so when we arrived, they had our check-in packet at the office door in a slot so we didn't have to enter the office. None of their amenities were open for use so we didn't get a chance to try the food, shopping, or park. We did walk our dogs around the park and there were several fence dog parks to utilize. We had a very cold night with ice on the side of our RV in the morning. Luckily the water system had heat trace on it so we didn't freeze up there. read more

FORT AMARILLO Security for RV parks is getting more and more important, like it is everywhere. Fort Amarillo RV Resort 8/22 SECURITY As far as I can tell there is little to none other than the typical video cameras at typical spots. No control of entrance during or more importantly after hours. There is fencing around the back side of sorts but the front is a step over. SPEED LIMITS Speed limit is 10 miles an hour. Most do about 10. Dust really is not an issue with speed as road appears to be a long time underneath blacktop covered with gravel with little dust. They do maintenance on the road as they added oil/tar and gravel on top while we were there, and not white rock with limestone so dust is minimal. PARK WATER I may remove this as we always drink bottle water. SHOWERS We did not use the shower area. SITE SIZE There is very ample room for every rig I saw here including a 44ft toy hauler, both length and width. The width is not excessive but enough. LAUNDRY Laundry is a bit limited in number of machines, 3 wash (1 is waiting for repair) and 4 dryers $1.50 each load, but they work well. When we used the laundry no one came in. NOISE This park is extremely noisy. Not much the park can do anything about unfortunately. There are two highways within ear shot, business's at the back of the park who start early, road construction, they too start early. Don't know what they could do to limit the noise. Some it does not bother but kept me awake most of the night. STAFF Didn't have much contact with staff but what we did was pleasant and helpful. SERVICES Laundry, mail, constructing a nice park area for campers with waterfall, plants of all kinds, decorative rock etc., gift shop. Wi-fi, two networks however I was never able to successfully sign on to either. Fortunate enough to have my own. That's all I am aware of. OVERALL Despite the previous mentioned noise I like this park. It is positioned well for us coming and going out west. Reservations are handled well. read more

Good park. Slots are close to each other, have small fences in between and are mostly gravel. Wifi ok, but not strong (par for most rv parks). Some trees. Large grassy dog park, gym. Incredible 2 story gift shop full of great smelling candles, delicious jams and beautiful country gifts. We treated ourselves to several scented candles and jams. In fact, I shifted our budged around so we can buy more stuff on our way out. Very worth the money. They also have a lovely courtyard with fish pond, waterfall and tables. Long term guests seem nice and "normal". Far enough away from highway to feel secluded. Camping World store is next door! We will definitely stay here again because: -We felt safe -Gift shop is a dream come true and contains everything I wish I could decorate our trailer with. -Staff was kind in a Texas hospitality sort of way -No sketchy people -Neighbors everywhere out in the evening playing cards and cooking out, God Bless America. read more

We stayed for 2 nights on our recently cross-country trip. It's condo-camping (hookups and smallish sites). We were close to the in-door pool (old but serviceable). No hot tub/spa and no plans to replace it. Puzzlement/safety hazard: guests are required to enter a separate code to enter the pool area, HOWEVER, it can also be accessed WITHOUT A CODE through an unsecured side-door from the laundry area. So, if you take your kids with you to the laundry, be aware that it is not secured from the pool. Laundry was efficient and clean. It would appear that there is a large population of permanent residents which was evidenced by lots of outdoor clutter around RV's. On site gift store, Lizzie Mae's, was better than anything the Beaver had! Well curated. I bought gifts for the entire family. Multiple options for shopping/reprovisioning, fuel, etc. For a night or two, we'd stay again. read more

Dont let the front of this place fool you ! Major pot holes, no black top or concrete, all soft uneven gravel, packed like sardines, delapidated fencing, long term very questionable tenants? I stood there for 2 nights this week with my wife and 2 kids and dogs. Very clean and very warm welcome by the staff. I arrived just before closing and gave me a run down of the area. Set up was easy for a beginner. The dog run was really cool with 2 sides. It was very quiet and I didn't really see anyone out of their trailer. Very , very nice park. The staff were outstanding! Kid and pet friendly. The pond and courtyard area were lovely. You can relax and watch the ducks while doing your laundry. The sites were long and amazingly level. Loved the little stores there, too. Found two cute gifts for our granddaughter in the Christmas store. Close by Walmart, Sam's, fuel stations, and an RV parts/camping store. Our only issue was with the bad potholes at the entrance in the park and it could use a few more washing machines for the number of residents. Close to the freeway but could not hear any traffic noise. We stayed two days in a 43 ft 5 wheel. Streets were easy to move the rig. read more

The entire place is so clean and well maintained. It is close to Walmart and many restaurants. We saw a lot of retirees with their dogs and young couples. read more

Not sure why this place had 4-1/2 stars. It's run down. We drove in thinking it was going to be clean and well kept but all the store fronts are aged. Looks like the majority here are full time campers which is fine but lots of clutter around their rigs which makes the park look dirty. Management should strive to have rules if you are full time and want visitors. Our electrical post was damaged but it worked. Our space was gravel. Great customer service, gave us useful suggestions on how to get through all the road construction. Good internet, nice large dog park area. The dog park was not clean, no poop, lots of grass. The RV spacing is close, however we were on an end space which makes a pleasant difference. Good location for overnight stay especially when heading north, since located in the north part of the city we were already out of the Amarillo traffic. read more

This RV Park is a great place to stay in Amarillo. Just out on the west end of town and just far enough off I 40 to not hear the noise. This is a large RV Park, one of the largest we have stayed in. A great staff helped us get checked in and to our spot. The amenities are great and the store "Lizzie Mae's" was a favorite place for the wife. It is really close to "restaurant row" and easy access to the interstate and the Loop around Amarillo. Also easy to get to Palo Duro Canyon from here. Highly recommended. The only complaint I could make is that due to the high winds in Amarillo and that all sites are gravel based, it gets dusty at times. If not for the dust, this would be a 5 star rating. read more

Mixed reviews. Campsites clean and easy access. Indoor pool and hot tub. Sounds nice. Pool was not warm..so OK I will skip that. Hot tub nice at 104 degrees...however not clean as I felt a lot of dirt on seats and only 2 out of 10 jets worked...okay still relaxing. But no Internet password listed so had to use my own data. ..and TV cable also did not work... Almost no water pressure. Had to use my water pump just to flush toilet or wash. so out of all the listed amenities. ..I would say I'm due. 50% refund...but again if it's a stop for the night?. Maybe but since all I really got was electricity I think I could have used generator and about 5.oo in gas instead if 30 something to plug in. Again mixed reviews...maybe they are in process of improving. ...let's hope. read more

Fort Amarillo is very clean and orderly with sufficient dog walking areas and a great dog park. The staff has always been courteous and helpful and they have good Wi-Fi. Their cable is fair; there are always some channels that don't come in, and tonight it was CBS, which unfortunately was the channel that we really wanted to watch. Still, we always stay here when we're traveling through west Texas so hopefully they will improve the cable. On the plus side, it is reasonably priced and they give a Good Sams' discount. This was our first time here as we traveled to Albuquerque and beyond. As we checked in the temperature dropped about 20 degrees and by the time we unhooked the 5th wheel it was snowing. So, we had a surprise snow storm that lasted for 2 days but this was a great place to be. The folks are very friendly and helpful. The have one of the nicest gift stores I have seen. Something for everyone. We were here in April but I found some great Christmas items that will make excellent gifts for the holidays. Booked a night at this park on our drive home to California. We arrived much later than expected. They told us that they'd be closed at the time of our arrival but there would be a board with our name and space number and that if we had any concerns that there would be a number we could call. When we arrived at 1:30am, there was no paper with our name and space number. What we found was a sheet that gave available spaces for those checking in at night so we drove through the park searching for those sights hoping to avoid having to wake the camp host. Unfortunately when we drove through, those sites were taken so we had no choice but to call. The gentleman was very helpful and gave us our site. Later that morning we apologized for waking him and he was very kind. Even made a joke saying that when he heard the phone, he thought it was his alarm telling him it was already time to wake up. They had free coffee and a beautiful store to browse through with so many gorgeous and unique things. Their sites were big and clean. We'd definitely stay here again. read more

I can't say enough wonderful things about this park. Family owned & operated. Planned a 2 night stay. After our first night we needed to make a trip to the emergency room and required an extended stay. They were so concerned and accommodating-had to move things around so we could stay and did so with no hesitation. The park is great - very wide, level spaces, excellent layout, very well maintained. There is an onsite gift shop that is way better than any we had seen on our trip (better than Cracker Barrel). We highly recommend this park for an wonderful stay - and to know that they will do anything to help when something goes wrong. read more

I give it 2 stars only because it had full hookups. The showers are in a bathroom connected to the store. No stall, just a shower with a curtain. You have to get ready at the bathroom sink. No shade. Not dog friendly. There are small patches of grass at each site and some grass out front. You have to lug your trash to the entrance. Just very disappointed and CANNOT believe Good Sam rated 9/10/10! read more

Definitely the best campground we've ever stayed at! As a full time RV family, a nice family oriented campground is important... we certainly found it here! The guy who built the campground is amazing! He came over and let us know we couldn't use barbed hooks for the catch and release pond they have there... He was so nice about it and even got a pair of pliers and flattened the hook for us! Spent about a half hour with us and fished with our daughter... amazingly nice man to say the least! The sites are huge, the dog park has separate places for multiple dogs (which is great for our dogs who aren't friendly with other dogs), VERY CLEAN, awesome inside pool/jacuzzi/laundry room/gym, and so much more to offer!
