The nice folks who checked us in and the spectacular location are worth much more than three stars. Additional pluses: the sites are mostly level and the grade is flatter than the state park. Negatives: we had to change sites to find working electricity and available water. Biggest issue: THERE CURRENTLY ARE NO BATHROOMS OR SHOWERS. The bathroom facility has burned to the ground, which I imagine has been awful for the owners. However, I wish this had been on their website and in the reservation confirmation when we booked our site a week ago. Our trailer does not have a bathroom or shower, so we likely would've changed travel plans if we had known. Overall, it's a fine campground (tents are here, too), feels remote but is near restaurants, and it's nice to be able to book online. I advise asking about facilities before booking, though.

You may need extensions for your sewage and electrical. Stay away from site 25, the outlet had an open neutral as of 05/24/20, so be sure and ask before you book that site. Even with it being no frills, I really enjoyed this RV spot. It is right down the road from Palo Duro Entrance. Across the road is the Jeep Tours which was allowing hiking to get access to the canyon since the State Park was limiting visitors to Day passes due to COVID-19. In the evening at the RV park, we were able to walk down to the canyon area and had beautiful views. Absolutely gorgeous! All of the staff at the site was very nice. They kept the area clean and tidy and they are making many improvements to the site including mini-cabins which are really cute. I would stay again at this RV campsite.

Our Cabin had a great view of the Slug Bug Ranch right outside our rear windows which was an added bonus. The staff was quite friendly & the manager even gave us a tour of one of the Chuckwagons for rent for our next stay. All in all we couldn't have been happier with our 2 night stay & I guarantee next time we find ourselves in Amarillo we will gladly book the Chuckwagon or the Cabins again!

We stayed in our rv but you can rent cabins or even stay in a covered wagon! They had patios with seating & hammocks too! Very nearby is the "Bug Ranch" where you can spray paint VWs and a variety of other things. Across the street is another activity park. We did not go but looked fun. They also have 3 dog parks. It might've been a fluke but one had several messes that were not cleaned. Could've been a visitor but that's the only reason I didn't give them 5 stars. Forgot to add...free shuttle to the Big Texas! We will stop again I'm sure!!

It's not bad though and I'm a light sleeper. It's not one of those keep the kids occupied places which is not a feature I need. It has trees and other greenery and receptionist very friendly and helpful. Office closes at 5 but she takes calls until 10. I called her at 9 pm with a WiFi issue and she promptly took care of it. There is a laundry and a shower which I did not use but count that among important for me features. Hookups were fine and more area between spaces than you get at a lot of places. I'd stay here aga

Our dogs loved it & made our 5AM poop trip easy. Showers were clean, water hot, & plenty of it. This is an older park, older building, older playgrounds, so no fancy pool, & don't judge the place just enjoy the friendly staff & great prices. They give veterans discount A big clean laundry room (didn't use) It is close to interstate, so easy pull in then get back on road. Gas station across the street also with a subway. Sites are well taken care of & clean. We didn't really notice the interstate noise, but one of the local military jets few over rocked our world. No cable, but we knew that from the start. WiFi worked, but don't plan to stream The long term renters were keeping their areas up very well. This was a perfect "Overnight Park" for us

The sites were level and spacious, and the hookups were easy to access -- perfect for our Class A motorhome and tow vehicle. The staff were friendly, helpful, and made check-in quick and simple -- a great place to rest and recharge. One thing to note: there's a train that goes by nearby, so if you're a light sleeper like me, consider that your early alarm around 4:30 a.m. Other than that, it's a great KOA and we'd definitely stay here again!

Unfortunately, one interaction completely changed our opinion. On the morning of checkout, one of our children became sick during the night, and we were cleaning vomit from both our tent and our vehicle while trying to leave the campsite in good condition. Instead of asking if everything was okay, the camp host drove into our campsite and immediately informed my husband that we would be charged a $10 late checkout fee if we weren't out by 11:30. There was no greeting, no courtesy, and no professionalism. As soon as we were told this, we immediately loaded everything into our trailer, exited the campground before the 11:30 deadline, and finished securing and strapping down our trailer in an empty lot down the street. We did not remain in the campsite after checkout. We then attempted to stop by the office to check out properly, but despite an OPEN sign being displayed, the office doors were locked. When we later reviewed our credit card statement, we found not only the $10 late checkout charge but also a $7 charge for a bag of ice that we never purchased. We bought our ice elsewhere and have the receipt to prove it. We have disputed the charges and contacted KOA Corporate. What disappointed us most wasn't the money--it was the way we were treated. When I attempted to ask the camp host a question, she simply gave me a dirty look, drove away in her golf cart, and refused to speak with me. Customer service matters. A little kindness and professionalism would have completely changed this experience. It's unfortunate because we have enjoyed this campground for years. Sadly, after this experience, we won't be returning and can no longer recommend this KOA to others.
