I have been coming to Fort ball for over three years now, and it's pretty mediocre. Sometimes a few small surprises but always matched with a few disappointments. The pizza and buffet is decent at best, but the price matches so that checks out. My main complaint is the completely out of date and run-down decor. The seats are falling apart, it's dim but not in a "mood" type of way. But my biggest complaint of all would be the restrooms. I waited to write a review for three years to give a local business the benefit of the doubt, but there have been holes in the men and women's restroom doors for over three years, the restrooms are mysteriously wet, the hand soap dispenser leaks soap all over the sink, and the restroom doors only lock with a hook latch you'd expect to find on a gas station stall, let alone that it's on the actual door to the restroom. It is very clear that the owners/managers have lost whatever passion they had for their restaurant and sacrificed it to keep enough food getting dried out under the heat lamps on the buffet trough. Hopefully they make some changes and I can update my review, in the meantime...have two stars for at least qualifying as a place that sells food at a decent price. ***UPDATE***: They have at least attempted to "fix" the restroom doors. They have now put a wooden patch over the holes, which is at the very least more than nothing at all. SECOND UPDATE 4/14/19: Nothing has changed, one waitress running the entire dining room and cash register, all salad dressings unlabeled for an interesting salad lottery. If you are looking for a quick, easy, and everything but a healthy place to eat this is the place for you. They gots a plethora of rancid eats on that buffet of theirs. I starts out with a plate of that fettuccini and macs and cheeses and i topped that off with some of that garlic bread. Overall i gives plate one a 7/10. Macs and cheeses was subpar. I then goes up and i gets myself a plate of pizza with some pepperoni on it, not a bad endeavor, about a 8/10. For plate three i gets myself 2 dozen of them pickled eggs, those made my stomach churn a little after I endulged in them so I had to make a trip to the facilities. I done blown up that toilet so bad I had to get the manager to come and unclog that toilet of his. Overall this little pizza palace is a nice local restaurant and i gives it a 7/10 for the overall experience. One critique i gots for this establishment that would perhaps upper my rating is the rancid ratio of carbohydrates to other nutrition groups available at that buffet.Them pickled eggs i eats is probably abt the only thing they gots up there that contains any sort of protein read more

Fort Ball pizza is some of the best pizza I have evah, evah eaten and yes I know how to spell ever, I'm trying to make a point! Every time I visit Tiffin I try to eat pizza here at least twice before I leave town. The crust is just right, not to thin, not to thick and cooked to perfection. The sauce is amazing and combined with the crust is a recipe for success. I will not go into the toppings because they are second and third fiddle to the crust and sauce. If you have the crust and sauce down everything else is gravy. I am back in Austin now but will have many dreams about you Fort Ball pizza. How your crust had the perfect combination of crunch and chew, how your sauce, melted in my mouth and your perfect amount of cheese, not too much and not too little. It had been years since I had been here before this visit. I definitely remember the food being much better. All the food was hot on the buffet, plenty of options but honestly none of it really had any taste or flavor. The pasta and pizza sauces are def missing some spices. Toppings were lacking on the pizzas. Even the garlic cheese sticks were disappointing on taste. They need to revert back to before whatever they changed. Not impressed AT ALL. read more

I love this place, always have and always will. The food is really good, the people are great. If I visit Tiffin and do not eat Fort Ball my trip is incomplete. The bread and dough is made fresh daily and it is amazing. I ate at Fort Ball daily for over 5 years while working there in high school and college and it didn't get old. We heard this place was really good, but quickly found out, "NOPE" We got there late afternoon, time for supper. They had 4 tables of people, and only a couple dried out pizzas on their "buffet". The italian food- one pan was empty and only a small portion of fettucine available as shown in pix. 2 pcs of our 4 sets of silverware had dried stuff on them. Staff replaced them silently. The "Italian dishes" side tasted edible and OK, but not amazing. Note the empty pan to the left and only a small amt of dried out fettucine in another. Note the crustiness of the pans. They just brought a portion of fettucine in and poured it in old pan! We sat and waited and waited for more pizzas to come out. More people came in, and only one pizza at a time would come out. The pizzas typically only had 1-3 items sparsely placed. They left the old pizzas sit way too long, which the customers figured out b/c Nobody ate them. During our 90 min there, I counted approx 50 ppl come in and want to eat. They brought out a total of 3 new pizzas while we were there and one new Italian dish. Staff was polite but slow to pick up dishes (not that we had many) and we had to ask for our 2 drink refills of pop and water. The staff was intent on hanging back by the kitchen door at the soda machine. Cleanliness? Meh. Restrooms? Blech, they needed a real cleaning. Someone should teach them how to clean the toilets, it was OLD filth. We will not try this restaurant again. We did try asking when more pizza was coming out, the girl muttered something about the cook just got there. read more

Wow. This town is hurting for a decent pizza place. Frozen crust and way too much sauce. I ordered green olives and sausage on my pizza, I got green olives but no sausage. I know green olives can be salty, but it tasted like they replaced the sausage with extra salt, I could feel my heart rate and BP increase after one piece. I won't be going back. read more

Went on a Friday night and ordered the buffet. Everything was delicious. Raviolii, lasagna, pizza, Italian sub slices, dessert breadsticks, dessert apple pizza, and salad bar was amazing. Only flaws was it took me 4 tries to finally get a beer they actually had on the menu listed and they did not have a pizza on the bar that I had wanted to try (which they told me would be on there when I had phoned them first even after they said it was not a request buffet) The beer menu at the tables are outdated. Their pizza is not too thin, not too thick, and the home made sauce has a nice combination of sweetness and spiciness from the Italian seasonings. This is one of our favorite places for Italian food when we are in Tiffin, Ohio. They have a nice selection of items to top your salad with. The only thing is the lettuce is shredded, which is ok, but some may not prefer it that way. I enjoy the whole pickled eggs and sliced beets topped with some French dressing on my lettuce. They also have jello, puddings, and other soft foods, which children enjoy as well as adults. Good selection of pizzas, lasagna, spaghetti, Ravioli, Mac n cheese, fold overs, white pizza, and cinnamon sticks. The buffet is stocked well, even at peak times. If a buffet isn't what you're looking for, they do have several selections on their regular menu that you can pick from. The menu includes things like pizza and a nice selection of submarine sandwiches. Note - their subs are excellent and are made with fresh Italian bread loaves. Fort Ball is nothing more than a run-of-the-mill pizza shop. Their claim to fame is their "Italian Smorgasbord", but it typically misses the mark. Even though the selection has gotten better on the buffet, it's still sub-par as a whole. Who really wants a pizza buffet, though? Are you really concerned with quality, or are you just there to stuff your face? The buffet attracts a certain crowd, and that is totally fine, but not my cup of tea. I'd prefer a more refined slice, in stead of a place that produces food put of a trough. Fort Ball has seemingly been around forever, and will continue to survive in a town flooded with mediocre pizza places. I'd suggest A.J.'s Heavenly for a more refined pie. read more

Coming from Chicago it's hard to find good pizza around. Fort ball is ok. It consistently seems to be VERY greasy. We tried the buffet but my fiancee swore we'd never go back as the Tiffin natives made it quite unappealing and unappetizing watching all that food being guzzled down some of the largest butts I've ever seen in my life. When we order Fort Ball again out of desperation for pizza, we will make sure we get carry out. We have decided regrettably that Pizza Hut is about the best pizza you will get in Tiffin. :( read more

BLT foldover's, Italian subs, and to many kinds of pizza to name. Love their food and will always by MY pizza of choice. Good if you catch a fresh pizza terrible if not. Buffet pizza was cold, dry, and old. It had been out for probably 20 minutes before I got there and new pizza was not brought out for over 40 minutes after I got there. Even when the place was packed they didn't put out fresh pizza. My other favorite hometown pizza place - with the added benefit of an Italian buffet! I absolutely love their pizza and cheesebread, and the buffet is nice if you get there during peak times when fresh food is consistently served/changed out. Their sauce is a little more mild/salty and the crust can be a little on the crunchy side - very good if that's what you're craving! Like any restaurant, staff come and go and service can vary, but the food is consistently good from either location. read more

A consistently good pizza and salad buffet with plenty of options, including pasta dishes. It's not the best pizza in town, but it's tasty enough and the price is right. Great macaroni salad! They do a good job keeping the buffet stocked. I've seen them let people get the buffet even when it's officially ended unlike so many places that start whisking away the food as soon as the clock strikes. The staff is very attentive about removing plates from your table and asking if you want a refill or anything else. They have a banquet room for parties and special occasions. read more
