Went here on a Tuesday for Magical Winter Lights. The lights were actually pretty impressive and i definitely recommend! However, if you have a bigger group and kids who arent free, it is expensive. It might only take about an hour to walk through the lights. The displays are large and beautiful though, not just lawn ornaments. I was glad to have purchased these tickets through Groupon for $20/adult (vs $28). My 2 year old was free. I think it was worth the money since we only spent $40 on admission and our toddler LOVED the bounce house, but i wish we spent more time there. We were only there for 2.25 hours because she was getting out of control. If we were only adults, not sure if i would have gone tbh. We arrived right when they opened at 5pm and spent the first hour of daylight in the ginormous bounce house. We had a blast! I recommend arriving early just for this so you can have the bounce house all to yourself. ($5 for 3yo+). Now here is why i took off 1 star. The workers were standing right next to my stroller smoking! I could literally smell it as I'm jumping before I even saw them smoking. My boyfriend had to tell them to please not smoke. They weren't even apologetic and seemed annoyed. I will also add that as we were walking to the back where the carnival area was, we passed by 2 workers who were smoking in 2 different areas. But it was the smoking right next to the bounce house that really irked us. When I got out of the bounce house (1 hour later), this other guy told me I had to pay $5 and that only my toddler was free. The previous 2 guys literally just gave me a wrist band and told me I was able to go in with my toddler. They accept cash only though, which I did not have, otherwise I would've paid. Food and games accept credit card. We spent $20 for this bean bag toss and won a small axolotl stuffed animal (pricey). Also spent $23 on a huge and delicious torta and hibiscus drink (both shareable). There are also some small souvenir/gift shops. Anyways, I didnt see any other rides although I thought there was supposed to be a carousel? I thought there was an option for $20 unlimited rides? My fault for not asking though. My toddler was stressing us out because she kept wanting to go to the bounce house, but we didn't have cash. I saw an ATM on the map, but we didnt have a debit card anyway. Parking was ample and free at least. Also, we were only able to watch a little bit of the acrobat show (the lion dance) because of our restless toddler, but I think that was definitely a perk. read more

Interesting place. Not many Elites come to the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds. I was here last year during the AAPI Festival hosted by Fort Bend County Judge and this month during the inaugural Fort Bend County Pride Festival. Both happened to be at the same building. Thanks for the cool AC and well-attended police officers keeping the place safe. This fairground is huge. I only saw a little part of it. Getting here is a little tricky, which is not my favorite when I leave. There are 2 entrances on Route TX-36. One closest to Southwest Freeway is probably the correct entrance, but not easy to make a left turn to get on the freeway. The oncoming traffic was driving at high speed. I usually use the 2nd entrance which is further away from the freeway. Except the right turn is extremely sharp. Definitely not recommended to be speeding. I think I will come to try the county fair or whenever they have free events. read more

It's a small county fair. They displayed the children's art well in one of the buildings. We enjoyed. They had another building with vendors selling their items. We did not purchase anything. The Lions club had good burgers. I really enjoyed the rodeo. I went two days I enjoyed it so much. It was a PRCA competition. The Cowboys are roping, bull riding, barrel racing, everything you expect at a large rodeo, but it was small and it was very competitive. It had you on the edge of your seats. The clown and the commentator were both really good. I would definitely go again next year. A small petting zoo, we were unable to enter it. It was always closed when we went by it. There was a really nice carnival, Carnival food. We got a funnel cake, it was good, but $10! it was too busy on Saturday night. We didn't even try to walk through it. During the week it was not as busy, that's when I would go if you have children, or early in the day. The bands were good, and everybody seemed to be enjoying it but we did not stay. read more

This exceeded my expectations. Definitely an easier experience than the rodeo with basically the same carnival games and rides. Parking is free and easy, we went on the first Saturday around noon and it wasn't crowded at all with plenty of parking spots. Some of the rides are jerky and too intense so avoid if you get motion sickness, and don't eat beforehand. No lines at all for the rides. Food wasn't that good, got the curly fries that weren't seasoned or crunchy. Everything cost money so it can get out of hand quick. Just go with a budget and game plan and you'll have fun! read more

My family and I were removed from our reserved seats at the rodeo because their system glitched to double book the seats and they favored the other folks because they were patrons and white. It was so humiliating, embarrassing, and traumatic experience and all they could offer was refund which I refuse to accept as a compromise. read more

I would not spend my money supporting an organization that does not have any fair queens or scholarship recipients that are not of other races. It is very much a good, ole boy organization that does not support diversity. Take a look at the fair queen and scholarship recipients photographs and you will see what I mean. They lack diversity in their board and staff also. Come on, Fort Bend County is too diverse for the fair to not be diverse. read more

Too expensive. Prices are comparable to Houston rodeo, but not as much rides or things to do, visit. The carnival is extra, the kiddy farm and pony rides are extra, everything is extra. Be ready to spend money here‍. Yes plenty of animals, but they belong to the kids competing, make sure your kids do not pet them. The little place for kids to learn or touch is barely staffed. Make sure to bring cash, but the ATM inside has a very high fee. They do NOT welcome cultural diversity. Don't believe it? Just look at the girls that won for princesses this year, and every year. Most of the competitions (if it is run by the fair office) are rigged. Don't throw away your money here, if you are not part of staff or "someone important" in their eyes, your kid won't win‍. One of the guys working the carnival games told me that fair ask them not to speak their native language while in the fair, to each other or costumers. We attended the Fort Bend County fair for our first time this year. I must say that the set up was pretty cool, with plenty of rides and concession stands, such that thousands of people could be walking around and the lines weren't too long and there were plenty of opportunities for food and beverages to be purchased. They were also multiple places to sit down, and a decent amount of shopping. The things that I would improve about this experience are making it easier to understand in the barbecue areas what parties you could access and which ones you couldn't. When we purchased our tickets, the lady at the booth said that our tickets covered access the barbecue cook off areas but when we tried to go there, it wasn't clear which ones we can get in and which ones we couldn't. This leads me to my second suggested change. All items should be purchasable via one form of payment. It is a bit frustrating to be able to purchase things with one form of payment and have to use cash for everything else, even though there is an ATM. While there were the ATMs I don't understand why you couldn't just make everything purchasable via credit card. Some concession vendors accepted credit cards and others were cash only. This didn't make sense because the tickets themselves were scanned upon entry. The whole process would be much smoother if you could just make everything digital rather than have to carry around multiple forms of payment. I personally don't want to carry around hundreds of dollars in cash at a place like this, which is what it costs if you want to enjoy yourself with multiple people in your party. The next thing that I would improve is making the ride tickets and wristbands part of the initial entry fee. When you purchase tickets to get in to a place, there has to be things that you can do without having to purchase anything additional. There wasn't much you could do at this venue without having to spend more money on something else. This kind of defeats the purpose of paying for a ticket. I think you should make it all part of one transaction that includes admission with optional upgrades like ride tickets and wristband fees. Nonetheless, everyone in our family enjoyed themselves and we will probably make it an annual tradition now that we know what to expect. I will say, however it would be nice, though I am a man of faith, to not walk out of the fair to have people preaching at you. They should designate a street preacher and protesting area other than the space where you immediately walk out. This is the 3rd year that we have enjoyed this venue. I must say that each year we have gone it has become increasingly busier. This year was no exception however the grounds are sufficiently large enough that there is more than sufficient space to enjoy the many exhibits, rides, livestock and entertainment without the interminable long waiting lines unless one is a ride fanatic in which case you need to be prepared to wait. Although there are many options for food on the midway I think that the locally sponsored food options near the rear of the Exhibit Halls are the absolute best options for local faire. As well the Exhibit Halls themselves are filled with local Fort Bend talent including food, all forms of art and vendors. This is an ideal family venue. read more

I enjoyed the Fort bend county fair with my family this year. I personally thought it was to expensive. The pricing was up there with the rodeo but they did not have nearly as much food or games and rides. I played 35 for us to get in and didn't get a turkey leg. Only had one vendor selling them and they sold out. No candy apple. I was dissatisfied. Kids had a good time because I was spending all the $$. read more
