Xanadu aka "Xu" is a large building on the property that makes up the workspace. Gardens of Xanadu is a large greenhouse on the property that is open to the public during the same business hours as Constellation Coffee, a coffee trailer on the property that is part of Xanadu. President of the Idaho Burners Alliance, Kaden Sinclair bought the property, which functioned as a church from the 1930s until the 1950s, so he could use it to build the art car "Joule" for Burning Man 2015, and it grew from there. One of Kaden's goals is to obtain the funding to build something similar to Meow Wolf, in Boise. Meow Wolf is an arts and entertainment company that creates large scale, interactive art installations. Highly Recommended!!!

First of all, the venue is spacious and works perfectly for a large event. The venue provided breakfast, lunch, and appetizers, and drinks everyday of the conference and the food was amazing. It was the best food I've ever had at conference. They had homemade potato chips and bread. Wonderful desserts and pastries. The first day we had salmon bowls with rice and veggies they were delicious! Everything is top notch and I hope they decide to hold next year's conference here.

The Basque Center was built in 1949 and is a gathering place for Basque people in the area as well as non-Basques. It is available for rent and it has a huge kitchen in the basement for catering events. This past Saturday in support of the Basque Block Christmas Market, the Center featured the Basque music group, Txantxangorriak, and performances by Boiseko Gazteak, which teaches traditional Basque dance children from 4 to 13 years of age. It was a lively afternoon of traditional music and dance while the largely Basque crowd cheered and appreciated the show of talents. The Center is open to the public and non-Basques should not be intimidated to enter the bar for a good strong drink at a really low price. Be mindful that the Center is closed Monday, serves drinks after 3 pm Tues-Thur and has extensive hours Friday, Saturday and Sunday. The Center is celebrating the 93rd Sheepherders Ball on Saturday, December 17th with a dinner that is currently sold out. After the dinner, the Oinkari Dancers (ages 14 and above) will perform at 8:00 PM, followed by a lamb auction which raises funds for the Basque Charities account. The dance, featuring the popular band "Amuma Says No", will begin after the lamb auction. The cost of admission to the dance is $5 for adults and children under 12 are admitted for free.

Boise State students--you have it so good when it comes to a recreation center!…read more All the things: Indoor track, volleyball courts, basketball courts, free weights, weight machines, stretching areas, cardio equipment, various classes throughout the week, an indoor climbing gym, and pool/hot tub! You have practically everything that your heart could wish for in this work out facility. My favorite part: While I'm a fan of all the offerings that this facility has, my favorite is the climbing wall! All you have to do is take their intro to belay/bouldering skills class and then you can use the wall (when it's open) for the semester. I had never climbed prior to coming here, and they made it a fun/exciting/not intimidating process to learn. They have shoes that you can rent (this costs a few dollars) and harnesses (free)! The climbing gym also has several different courses varying in difficulty, so whether you are a newbie or an expert, you'll have a fun yet challenging time! Cost: If you are a full-time student, the cost for the rec center is included in your tuition...score. And if you want to continue your membership after graduating, their prices for alumni are compararble to other gyms in the area (about $29/month).

The combination of the hot, heavy moisture, and the lush greenery was the closest I have felt to being in a tropical rainforest since I lived in Africa. Whether you want to get your kiddo plugged into a new activity, or you are an adult eager to pick up a sport you played as a kid, they've got something for you! My inspiration for this review comes from the softball team I am on right now through the city. Until a friend approached me and asked if I wanted to be on his softball team, I had no clue this was a thing! Boy, was I missing out. You can choose what type of league you want to be in: USA Men's M1 - M14, USA Coed Silver C1 - C4, USA Coed C1 - C14, USA Women's Upper, Middle, Lower and 38+, and Men's USA Senior: 50+, 55+, 60+. (I believe my team is on USA Coed Silver.) The several different divisions mean that there is a place for every age group and level of competition! Games are once a week (unless it's a bi-week). They have a spring season and fall season. The city organizes the game schedule, so all you have to do is show up with your team to the field, and play. All of the umpires I have interacted with have been fun, fair and have a great sense of humor. The price per team is somewhere between $350 and $400, but divided amongst the team it ends up being about $40 per person, which isn't a bad deal at all...especially considering there are 8 weeks of games! If you've never done something like this, I highly recommend you rally together a crew and give it a go with one of the other sports they offer. It is SO FUN!
