My grandma used to volunteer here. There was always different events going on, and one day when we…read morevisited, she said there was a concert at the Foote Lagoon that we would be going to that night (the open area venue next to the Chilson Center). So, my aunt, uncle, grandma, grandpa, mom, dad, and I loaded up into the car. The concert was going to be a band called "The Elders". I thought boy do they sound interesting... But, sure enough it ended up being a rowdy Irish band from Kansas City. It had rained earlier in the evening and everyone was dancing in the lagoon and having a good 'ol time. My grandpa and I shared peanut butter ice cream from the Cold Stone stand nearby. Fast forward many years later and my family and I still have toured around with the Elders.

I'm leaving a separate review for the senior center faculty (here) and the event coordinator…read moreWhitney on the Chilson Recreation Center page. The reason is because the actual venue was good but the coordinator was not and I want to give an honest review on both. The Chilson Senior Center was our venue for our recent wedding. We were married at the Foote Lagoon and had the reception at the senior center. The room is very big and you can opt for just a portion if your event is smaller. We had 150 guests at our wedding and rented 2/3rds of the room which was enough for 22 guest tables, food tables, a bar and a dance floor. We also used the patio for happy hour (tho alcohol isn't allowed out there just FYI). The people who setup the room with the tables had them ready on time and even helped us some with hanging decor. They also did a good job with having a person keeping an eye on the wedding but not drawing attention. They allowed us to use all our own caterers, bartender, etc. which, while more time consuming, saved us $. The reason for 4 stars and not 5 is because of the kitchen. The senior center uses most of the space in both the refrigerator and freezer so you don't have a lot of space there. Also you have to provide all your own pots and pans. They let you know this up front though so that's good. Besides that though I was a huge fan and glad we had it here. The only reason I would not suggest booking your event here is because of the event coordinator Whitney. Look for my post in the Chilson Recreation Center page (doing it there since she's their employee) for why. If she isn't there anymore or they can let you work with someone else, I would 100% recommend this venue.

I wanted to take a minute to let you know how much of a lifesaver your team was for us here at…read moreAspens Memory Care, our new resident, and his family yesterday. Long story a bit shorter, we had a new move in fly in yesterday from California. His family flew out that morning and brought their father back the same day, so needless to say, it was quite the stressful situation due to their father having a fairly advanced stage with his dementia. We had been working on getting Physician orders in at the onset of confirmation and the Doctor continued to delay. When it came down to the wire, we had to provide the family with an alternative option. Per state regs, we cannot accept a resident without Physician orders and our plan B, which is to onboard with our onsite Physician group, rightfully could not see him until Friday. The family had expressed their concerns about being with him through the night as they do not have much experience dealing with Dementia. I threw a Hail Mary pass to Sharon and boy did she take it in for the touchdown! She was first on my list to call and while we waited on her return call, our team made multiple calls to see who could assist. Your team was the STAR that came through for us and I do not have enough words to express how grateful we are. In addition, the family complimented Elliot (caregiver) so much. He knew exactly how to handle our new resident, Dr. Smith and the family was able to get peaceful sleep after their physically and emotionally draining day! Today with the sunrise also came Physician orders and our new resident is making himself at home today. So, A HUGE THANK YOU to Sharon, Julie and Elliot! I'm so glad we continue to partner with you. Thank you, Amy R. Moore Director of Sales & Marketing Aspens at Fort Collins

Year 2 to 3 was not as nice, not to the level of care and 'customer service' we experienced the first year. We stayed with them out of our convenience and because our mother was used to them. 1. They bill every week. If you don't pay weekly they harp on you about the bill. We asked repeatedly and were told repeatedly that paying monthly was fine. Harping continued. 2. If you have them buy groceries REQUEST RECEIPTS. In reviewing bills and seeing what was actually in her fridge and pantry, I really wonder if all the money we paid for 'grocery cards' and 'groceries' was accurate. An 85yo woman just doesn't eat $200+ groceries a week IMO, which is what it added up to sometimes. Maybe they stocked up on money cards, but regardless, please ask for receipts. 3. We were there all day (24 hours) on a day someone was scheduled to show up but the senior never showed up. Makes us question every single charge from that person we ever paid for. They did not bill for that day, but the senior person who came to visit the next day was sure a visit had been scheduled and missed. 4. Our mother had a social worker from Adult Protective Services assigned to her after being in the hospital a few years ago. Caring Senior Services told APS things they had never shared with us. It felt like they were tattling on us to get us in trouble. It was a terrible feeling that you can no longer trust the people you are paying to check on your mother every day. 5. The day we arrived the sink was full of disgustingly old, dirty dishes. Counters were dirty. We thought they were doing dishes when they delivered groceries. Apparently not. These were so old mold was growing on half of them. If you need or require visits to you parent/senior, Caring Senior Services serves the purpose. The visitors themselves for the most part were okay. We didn't really know them, they are many and they changed, but we trusted them in the house. Our issue ended up being with account management. Hopefully if you're hiring them you are local and can check up on them and ensure they're doing whatever you've contracted with them to do, light cleaning, groceries, etc.

So I had been parking my bike near the vending machines in the lobby area because I was given permission to plug my electric trike in at that area. So yesterday, which I guess was July 15 maybe anyway so I arrive and there's this new person at the reception area a woman I had never seen before. She glare at me as I am pushing my electric trike into the lobby and plugging it in within five minutes. This male employee approaches me. I then communicate to this mail employee that I have given permission to plug my electric trike again and I have been doing this for approximately six weeks now. I then got my cooler out of the back after I plugged the electric trike in and put the lock on it. I then got my cooler and I went out to the Chelson Center lawn. I found a bench to eat my lunch. I was approached by the same male employee that had approached me when I was plugging in the trike, he stated you cannot leave the trike unattended. You must be in the building as long as I was in the building and the trike was fine being charged in the lobby so I gathered up my stuff went inside when you recorded everything back on the bike. Got what I needed to go into the locker room. As I was undressing the same female employee with curly hair that I've never seen before comes into the locker room. Seek me out gives me a dirty look and leaves. At this point, I'm so stressed out they have been harassing me and I don't know what changed. I have been plugging my electric track in for approximately six weeks. Another employee female employee with long dark curly hair and glasses comes into the locker room. She then starts bullying me telling me I can't plug in my bike. That's not the rules I cannot do it. Oh my gosh how dare I. She then states that OK she'll allow me to leave it plugged in for today no longer can I do it though. She leaves I was brought to tears like literally I started sobbing. I have been attacked all morning twice by the male employee the same male employee and then two different women attacked me in the locker room verbally bullying me about my electric trike. They all acted like I was raking a law and oh my gosh how dare I? How dare I how dare I. When once again, I'm going to state, I had been plugging in my electric trach for approximately 4 to 6 weeks at the same area in the same lobby that I was given permission. And then was I'm plugging the electric trike, taking the lock off and this other mail employee comes up to me, Steven and asks if he can help me take my bike out of the doors because I needed assistance because the doors don't open up very wide. I said to him you have been the kindest person to me today and I really appreciate it. I then started telling him about all the bullying that I had been experiencing that day by these employees and that I had not done anything different than I have been doing the last 4 to 6 weeks that I was given permission by the staff to plug my electric try again. He listened and he was very kind. I then got the courage to ask to speak to a manager. And low boy, hold the woman with a long, dark curly hair and the glasses is the manager that comes out and then said to another male employee no, I don't wanna talk to her. I'm going to complain about her. She's one of the people that bullied me about something that I had gotten permission to do. I want you to hear that People I got permission to plug in my trike and I had been doing it for 4 to 6 weeks. This was bullying. This was harassment. I am 67 years old on disability in Long-term Care. I did not deserve this. Nobody deserves this. This is unacceptable. -10 stars
