I love Ft Hill. I've been there many times and enjoy it every time. Great views of the marshes, nice trails, and good trail walk.

Originally built in 1820 as a sea captain's estate, this 16-room bed and breakfast beautifully pairs modern comforts with authentic maritime history, even displaying original wooden "ship's knees" supports in several of its rooms. Innkeepers Denise and Pete Butcher cultivate a warm, family-like atmosphere that keeps a loyal community of repeat guests coming back year after year to relax, reset, and breathe in the fresh Cape Cod sea air. Our days are filled with wonderful memories, from enjoying Denise's exquisite buffet breakfast featuring homemade Swedish coffee cakes and quiches, to relaxing by the courtyard's cozy gas fire pit. The inn's location is unbeatable--just a 5-minute walk to Nauset Beach, which saves us a $35 daily parking fee. Whether we are catching a historic Orleans Firebirds baseball game, riding bikes on the Cape Cod Rail Trail, or enjoying fresh lobster rolls at Cap't Cass Rock Harbor Seafood shack while watching the sunset, this inn truly feels like our second home.

It's the kind of place that attracts nice people (I had great breakfast chats with other guests or could quietly read), which is clearly the result of Denise and Peter's own warm and welcoming personalities. I highly recommend and am seriously considering becoming an opening AND closing the season guest. A happy place!

Jennifer is a wonderful host and is so helpful on the property and what's going on around town. The area is quiet, clean, peaceful. The cottages are fully furnished with all you need in the kitchen. Each cottage is appointed with everything, outdoor showers, bbq grill even charcoal to get you started. And they are Clean. This matters. Some cape cabins or rooms tend to be musty or messy. Sorry, but I've been coming here for 45 years and nothing's changed. Cottage grove cottages are impeccable. This is a quiet refuge from kiddos. Sorry, but that's my take on it. There is no pool, no playground, none of that. Plenty of those elsewhere and that's where the kids are. Go enjoy that if that is what you need. This is quiet and wonderful for adults, couples, singles, artists, empty nesters or anyone wanting to get away from screaming, kids crying and yelling, parents, cursing, car horns.... Ah. Back to serenity. Isn't that better? This is the best there is. Close enough to PTown, Wellfleet and Truro. Go to Nauset lobster pool, get a few and bring it back for a nice dinner on your picnic table. Stars are out. You got back from free music on the beach. I found them extremely accommodating and easy to talk to. From the moment we checked in, at breakfast, throughout the day and when we checked out, every interaction was calm, caring, engaging and thoughtful. I found a great deal for the Penny House on Living Social and was so glad that I purchased it and went to visit. Upon entering, the atmosphere was clean, stylish and very comfortable. I was extremely impressed (except that the artwork in the living room was not my taste at all- but that's a personal thing) Otherwise, the layout was large and felt really spacious, there were lots of windows letting in plenty of natural light. Because we were there during the off-peak season we had a choice of rooms and chose to stay in the Captains Quarters which was UNREAL!!! Talking to the new owners, I know they are planning on updating all the rooms but as it was, we were extremely happy. We completely fell in love with this room. Full of old world charm, dark wood panelling, dark rustic wood beams, 4 post king sized bed! The room had comfortable chairs, fireplace, separate bathroom and the most unbelievable spa tub I have ever soaked in. We made sure to use the tub every night we were there, especially after our day of hiking around Provincetown on the beach and in the dunes. So good for sore muscles. The breakfasts were great! We were served homemade granola, yogurt, eggs, bacon and either waffle or pumpkin pancakes and everything was so tasty. There were also cookies and scones complimentary and you could help yourself to tea or coffee throughout the day. I felt so at home here, I didn't want to leave. The last day that I was there, I treated myself to 90 min massage in their amazingly beautiful spa. I had a great treatment and I am extremely picky. (this is coming from a fellow Licensed Massage Therapist) Janet really did a great job working specific points and areas of my body to release tension while giving a fantastic overall relaxation treatment. The spa itself is beautiful, the owner told me it's the first thing they renovated when the purchased the Penny House in June. It's tastefully decorated in a modern yet calming style, the colors and decor are warm and soothing, with another beautiful jet tub, two massage tables, a fire place and great amenities. I'm already trying to plan my next visit to Penny House Inn & Spa- I can't wait to go back and relax, hopefully for more than just two nights next time.
