The Penny House Inn & Spa has been under new ownership since June 2012 and the people who own and work here are so sweet, nice and friendly. I found them extremely accommodating and easy to talk to. From the moment we checked in, at breakfast, throughout the day and when we checked out, every interaction was calm, caring, engaging and thoughtful. I found a great deal for the Penny House on Living Social and was so glad that I purchased it and went to visit. Upon entering, the atmosphere was clean, stylish and very comfortable. I was extremely impressed (except that the artwork in the living room was not my taste at all- but that's a personal thing) Otherwise, the layout was large and felt really spacious, there were lots of windows letting in plenty of natural light. Because we were there during the off-peak season we had a choice of rooms and chose to stay in the Captains Quarters which was UNREAL!!! Talking to the new owners, I know they are planning on updating all the rooms but as it was, we were extremely happy. We completely fell in love with this room. Full of old world charm, dark wood panelling, dark rustic wood beams, 4 post king sized bed! The room had comfortable chairs, fireplace, separate bathroom and the most unbelievable spa tub I have ever soaked in. We made sure to use the tub every night we were there, especially after our day of hiking around Provincetown on the beach and in the dunes. So good for sore muscles. The breakfasts were great! We were served homemade granola, yogurt, eggs, bacon and either waffle or pumpkin pancakes and everything was so tasty. There were also cookies and scones complimentary and you could help yourself to tea or coffee throughout the day. I felt so at home here, I didn't want to leave. The last day that I was there, I treated myself to 90 min massage in their amazingly beautiful spa. I had a great treatment and I am extremely picky. (this is coming from a fellow Licensed Massage Therapist) Janet really did a great job working specific points and areas of my body to release tension while giving a fantastic overall relaxation treatment. The spa itself is beautiful, the owner told me it's the first thing they renovated when the purchased the Penny House in June. It's tastefully decorated in a modern yet calming style, the colors and decor are warm and soothing, with another beautiful jet tub, two massage tables, a fire place and great amenities. I'm already trying to plan my next visit to Penny House Inn & Spa- I can't wait to go back and relax, hopefully for more than just two nights next time. read more

I wish I could give an accurate review of the Penny House Inn but I never actually got to take a trip there. My boyfriend and I both purchased a Living Social deal for the Penny House Inn as soon as it was available on Living Social. In hopes of getting a weekend date in June (when it expired) I called the very next day to make a reservation. When I called I was told I couldn't make a reservation on the phone (weird...) and had to email the Inn. I thought this was strange since the voucher stated otherwise but I did as I was told and emailed them. When I emailed the Inn I was told that the weekend I was hoping for was unavailable. So via three to four different email exchanges (incredibly annoying) I was told no weekends dates were available between the second to last week in May and the expiration date in June. Why on earth was the voucher supposedly for ANY day of the week until the second week of June if nothing was available. If they didn't have any availability then why not state that by having the deal for Sundays-Thursdays like most vouchers? After the back and forth I finally gave up and we returned our vouchers. (Kudos to Living Social for attending to that quickly) I gave two stars because the Inn was prompt at responding, however I would say they were not very helpful or accommodating as their responses were short and unhelpful. We went to this b&b in April for a two night stay. To start things off we arrived from CT early and shopped a little but went to the inn to see if we could check on early only to find the place locked up tight. We assumed that they might be out shopping or cleaning rooms. Silly us! We called at 3 o'clock to see if we could check in early and were told that the room wasn't ready and there was a $35 early check in fee. We told them we would be there at 4. We showed up at 3:50 and the place was still locked up tight. We sat in the car until 4 on the dot and the front door magically opened and we were allowed to enter. The innkeeper was polite but not too friendly. Showed us our room, where we could get tea and coffee and where breakfast was served from 8-9 am. Excuse me! Did she say 8-9 am? We're on vacation. There is no way I'm getting up for breakfast at 8am. Needless to say we went for breakfast else where. The gentleman that work at the inn as a handyman I think, was extremely loud with his voice and how he walk around the inn. The walls were so thin you could hear everything being said in every room in the house. Though my husband and I were the only people staying there (wonder why). The help could be heard discussing everything. We even heard the innkeeper and the handy man having a very heated battle in the dining room the first when we returned from dinner but the closed the glass French doors thinking this would shut out the noise. Didn't quite work. I signed up for massage and the masseuse came to the room with paperwork and then told me to come down with my on my robe. My husband and I again looked at each other bewildered. He asked me if I brought a robe. No, who brings a robe on a two night stay? I threw on my sleep pants and a tee shirt and went to the spa and come to find that the innkeeper was supposed to have left me a robe and slippers in the room. After a ok massage and facial the masseuse gives me a robe and two right slippers telling me " sorry, the left ones must be in the dryer," Now to checkout, we open our door on the morning of checkout and the innkeeper is standing outside our door. Obviously they could hear us too. We were getting ready to load the car. "Getting ready to check out?" she asks me of course and not my husband because she hasn't made eye contact with him since we got there. She informed us she was at the desk whenever we were ready to pay. Mind you there were several times that she was no where to be found or she was in the living area and as soon as she saw us coming she would run away and hide somewhere. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. We were glad we stay there for the experience and the laughs. My husband and I laughed for two days about the antics that went on there but I don't think others would find it amusing. read more

I loved my stay at Penny House Inn. It felt like stepping into a little paradise. The owners Chuck and Joey were great hosts. They treated us likely family members. I would definitely recommend this place. I left my beautiful hat in my hotel room and Chuck sent it to my house by mail. read more

I feel bad it took me so long to post this review! My partner and I were getting married in Provincetown and stayed here for our wedding night Aug 17. What a treat! These folks couldn't have been sweeter. They went all out with flowers and I don't drink so they bought sparkling non alcoholic champagne. It was cozy and cute. We REALLY wishes we could've spent a few more nights. The breakfast was delish with pumpkin pancakes...the hot tub was a bit noisy but who cares when you are in such a sweet and lovely place. I bet it would be really cool in the winter too. You will be delighted if you visit the Penny in...it's new owners really care...and it shows! read more

I would never stay anywhere else! My husband and I were getting married in Wellfleet and because I am a bit OCD prone, we looked at and toured EVERY inn/hotel/motel in Eastham and Wellfleet. While there were a few we felt comfortable recommending to our guests, there was only one that we were excited to stay at ourselves: the penny house inn! The owner, Melissa, and her family and staff are amazing! They went out of their way repeatedly before, during, and after our stay to make our experience as perfect as possible. The inn itself is perfectly cape cod: rustic, relaxed, and full of beautiful nature. All of the rooms are gorgeous and spotless, but we recommend splurging on one of the 3 suites- you won't regret it. And you MUST eat Missy's breakfasts; she makes everything from scratch and is one of the best cooks I've ever tasted! We cannot wait to come back and stay here again! read more

The previous review on this inn and spa is definitely no longer accurate...as of June 2012 this establishment is under new ownership, and judging from the last review and what we heard this is a welcome change! The new owners were extremely nice and friendly to us throughout our entire stay. As soon as we got there they welcomed us and showed us around the entire inn. She showed us to our rooms after that and even helped take our luggage up (which we didn't really need help with but she insisted). The room itself was very clean and tidy and comfortable! Breakfast the next morning was delicious! Everything was homemade, from the granola to the pumpkin pancakes with maple butter and syrup. The owners were also quick to answer our questions and give us recommendations on places to check out while we stayed there, and were always friendly when we came back in from our travels and would check if there was anything we needed while we were there. We are definitely booking a trip back here next summer, and would recommend anyone visiting Cape Cod to do the same! read more

We're so lucky we found this place for a week on the Cape! Set back from the highway, a lovely property--did I mention the rabbits? And fireflies in the backyard! Our room was lovely, bathroom was fine, and we spent time in the lobby which we love--great plants. The whole building has an assortment of art and knick knacks, paddywhack, give your dog a bone artifacts. The location is amazing for anything on the Cape. There is a legitimate reason that this place had "no vacancy" and was completely booked in the last weekend in April; it is truly a little slice of heaven on Earth. I came for my birthday weekend with some close friends, and the Penny House Inn made the experience truly an ideal weekend. The rooms were exceptionally clean, the backyard was a relaxing piece of paradise. Drinking coffee (complimentary; my favorite), and looking into the beautiful garden with the coy fish pond is quite possibly the most relaxing way to start a day. The eclectic artwork everywhere was absolutely amazing and was like being in a museum instead of the Halls of an Inn. Also, the books everywhere, with no distinct order, kept me so entertained that I was being pulled out of this place to go celebrate my birthday off the grounds! The owner, Joey, and his staff, were by far the nicest, most helpful, and accommodating people on Earth. My sister has bad allergies, and Joey literally had an Ionizer machine for our room....I can't even describe to you how key that was...I've frequently stayed at the four seasons and other high end hotels that do not have such amenities! Joey was available to give us all of the best insider tips on how to enjoy our weekend in the cape, helped throw a birthday party for me, and took care of everyone as if it was his own family he was hosting. I have never felt more comfortable or spoiled anywhere in my life. The Inn itself is in a centrifugal location to a lot of places on the outer Cape, and it makes maneuvering to the beach, Provincetown, and other notable landmarks, an absolute breeze to venture to. The beach is legitimately so close you could take a five minute walk and get there. We stayed in a suite that had two beds, 1.5 baths, a jacuzzi tub, an electronic fire place, tv, a deck, and just so many amenities I could take up the whole page. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud, and was so incredibly restful. The water pressure in the showers was GREAT (which is an important detail for me) and was filled with really amazing products, and huge fluffy towels. I can't convey how much I loved staying at the Penny House. My only complaints are when I was taking a jacuzzi tub, there was a glare on the TV that just wouldn't budge; I just think the TV location has to be adjusted. Also, the outlet was directly behind the bed, but so much so that I could't plug in my charger next to my bed at night. My sister could on her side, but I had to charge mine across the room. I can't convey my gratitude on how staying here genuinely provided such a happy and fun experience for my friends and family. Thank you so much, Penny House Inn! When you settle into your room at The Penny House in Eastham you'll envelop yourself in the ambiance of Cape Cod. Out well-appointed room (The Captain's Quarters) was comfortable in every way, especially the king size four poster bed and the in-room Jacuzzi. Our host was friendly and gracious. The breakfast was delicious. Located right on Route 6 The Penny House is within easy reach of pretty much everything on the Cape. Our recent stay has turned these first-timers into future customers. Unfortunately I had a terrible stay and experience here. We booked via their website (which is no longer functioning as they've transitioned over to strictly an AIR BNB platform. The host, Liana called us the day before to inform us the pool is closed for the season and that they'll be moving us into a larger room. #1. We booked this place for the pool so that was a disappointment. #2. Our upgrade was a guise for an overbooking. #3 It just would have been nicer to have been informed of this AT THE TIME OF BOOKING. Moving on...our upgraded room situated itself right above a very noisy water heater problem that became apparent at 11pm. This WAS out the hosts control yes, but their response rate was terrible. They weren't even on the property. This was our first night and we had yet to meet anyone in charge. We never heard from Liana who was too busy in P town when we contacted her about this. And Joey swooped in in the middle of the night to "correct" the problem, never even introducing himself. Weird. Meanwhile, it continued, and the entire inn was awake at this point. My boyfriend actually went downstairs to shut the water off because it was the only thing that would make the banging stop. We texted Joey to tell him that we shut the main water off to his place, you'd think that would get a response - nope. The next day when we returned from the beach we were told their isn't any hot water, as if it was NBD. People were paying a lot more than us to be greeted with THAT. We were also promised a FULL refund. Long story short, the management did not act very swiftly or proactively. We got the impression they didn't want to spend money on yet another repair. We were moved out back, to where there was hot water but it was a cold unwelcoming space, and not at all what we booked the place for sadly. Accommodating yes, but terribly disruptive too. Upon leaving there was a mouse, dead, in front of the coffee pot. Of course no one was at the desk so we dropped off the keys and left. The following day I received my invoice with the promise of one nights refund (what happened to the FULL refund I wondered?) Two months went on and I did not see this refund credited to my account. Now suddenly I have a charge for what was supposed to be my refunded amount! I called Joey, and of course his vm is full. I called the # of the inn on the invoice, and that vm is full. I texted Joey, no response. I called his Taco Joint, no answer. (Great business man!) I contacted Liana who informed me she was fired and kicked out. Joey is now the face of the inn on air bnb, he's riding the coattails of what Liana did to the inn and her write up selling the place. Management was completely scarce at this place. It's basically a hostel for Joey's friends/"staff". He's an egocentric fraud, his main focus is his taco business and maybe the nice plant we found out in the backyard. He does not care about his guests, he cares about doing the bare minimum and making money. Seems like a Wellfleet brat to me. read more

We stayed at the Penny House Inn and Day Spa in June after purchasing a Groupon. AMAZING! We have found our new "home away from home" We had the best massage that we have ever had, Janis and Aza so in-tune to our needs...I was having a problem with my ankle, and after my treatment my ankle felt better than it had in months.....Our breakfast was a delicious meal cooked fresh and from scratch each morning by Melissa.....and more than filling as we didn't have to eat lunch. The rooms are not "over-the-top"...they are tasteful and comfortable and clean! This is a gem in the middle of the national seashore....we almost wanted to keep it our secret.....but decided to share because we wish all the best to Melissa, Nino, Cindy and the rest of the family.....you feel at home from the minute you walk through the door.....I know that everyone has different tastes and styles, but for us this place is hard to beat. read more
