The commissary has a decent selection for our military community. The layout is much better since the renovations and they still bring items in if you request something they don't stock. The prices save you money (even with the surcharge). I try to buy big purchases especially non-perishables here and then get other little things from local grocery stores like natural foods and local produce. The cake service is great. Prices are very competitive and everyone is always surprised when they find out the cake is from the commissary. To place an order, it's best if you bring in a huge clear picture of each item/symbol you want on the cake. They will scan it into a frosting picture. Then also provide an image of the entire cake with the wording so they know the layout. You'll make things much easier on them. I play with the layout in power point then print in color. Order your cake a few days ahead of time. I like the sushi counter with the veggie roll and the smoothie cases. The health food section is growing but we can always use more. The produce is decent and the avocado prices are fabulous. The fruits could use a boost but I can always rely on the bananas and grapefruits. It would be great to add more self serve checkouts that work....we haven't quite tweaked the self-checkout technology these days...don't you think it's about time for it to be more intuitive? I don't like tipping someone to bag my groceries or having someone walk it out to my car for a tip.

Normally I don't have an issue with the Commissary, but seriously CHECK THE EXPIRATIONS ON FOODS. I purchased "OtisSpunkmeyer Chocolate Chocolate Chip Muffins." I opened the package and it smelled off, but I didn't think anything of it.. then as I pulled the packaging off - there was MOLD. Checked the expiration date, and it's from 2016 !!!!!! I purchased these on 20 May 2020. THESE MUFFINS ARE FOUR YEARS OLD!?!?!?!

Pokemon themed cake made at the bakery and they did an amazing job.

The gallon of milk only lasted 10 days then it turned sour. I was surprised. Overall though have had a good experience at this Commissary.

But as for shopping on the regular.... eh, I don't know about that. The complaints about the lack of customer service are spot on. Separate departments seem to fare better - the deli counter staff in particular are attentive, friendly and quick - but if you need help finding something, you'd be better off on your own. Pricing is right on the median - it's not expensive like Safeway or Wegman's, but it's not cheap like Shoppers, either (and definitely not on the level of Walmart Grocery). If you don't have their bonus card, get ready to be ripped off. I've also heard cashiers yell for management, stating at the top of their lungs that "their customer has a WIC voucher!" or "SNAP card!" NOT necessary and very humiliating. I've also heard complaints about some food being expired or spoiled, and I have to admit that this kind of makes me squeamish. Since then, I've tried not to purchase perishables like vegetables or fruit from here. There are some positives - it's never really crowded, so I can get in and out fast, and some of the products are actually surprisingly good (the Weis premium ice cream is amazing!). As mentioned, some of the staff are friendly and they do try hard, but you can tell them apart from the ones that don't. It's glaringly obvious. They're open super late too, until 11pm, so that really helps me out a lot. Still, all in all, I'm willing to drive a little further to the Quarterfield Road Walmart to make major shopping trips. It's a matter of price and I know that I can get fresh, quality food there. And if you use SNAP or WIC, I won't know because that's nobody's business but yours.

Customer service usually hold it for me until I can pick it up. Their Pharmacy team is amazing from pharmacist assistant manager, Miss Theresa Theresa, pharmacist manager, Mr. Sesay, Miss Melody, Pharmacy staffer Miss Sade, Pharmacy staffer. The ambience of this store is amazing. I love the fact that everyone is so friendly even if you walk in the Giant and don't know anyone they are all here to help. They even donate their food to any of the homeless who are in need of food that come in the store and sometimes can solicit customers for a dollar or something. Usually one of the Customer Service people will take that homeless person over to the side and bring them a hot meal and or allow them to get maybe three items that they need and that Giant Stafford will pay for it so that they can have something to drink and something to eat. I think that that is beautiful. This Giant is completely is completely about kindness, compassion, and Community. This is my favorite giant food store and I love the fact that they're always supporting some charity Saint Jude American Heart Association feed the Hungary donating to their local food pantries helping kids with school supplies. I love that they have a raffle every school year beginning of the school year. I have one maybe 3 raffles and I donated all of the materials back to the Giant because I no longer have a child who's in school he's now at university so when one year one a basket full of school supplies which I donate it right back to the Giant the following year I want Thanksgiving all turkey Thanksgiving box dinner which I donated it back to the Giant because I didn't need it and then one raffle I won tickets to see the Orioles play baseball and I donated those tickets back to the Giant and they could give them to whomever they want. I told them the 251st person that walked through the store could have those tickets and they did that and I am assuming that they enjoyed themselves at the game. I don't know. I did not go. I just love this Giant kindness Community compassion.

In fact, I visited the store twice in one week because I liked the variety. Thankfully, both visits were uneventful. The store has a lot from which to choose, including a wide variety of fruit and vegetables. There are also a host of many other international items. I purchased a lot of fruit that I typically cannot find in most grocery stores. All of my produce was fresh from the lychee to the Asian pears and everything in between. Some prices are really good while others are marginally higher than other stores. With that said, I purchased what made sense and left what did not. The ambiance is on par with a typical grocery store setting with the extra added international feel. Since my visits have been specific, I have not had the opportunity to fully navigate the store to see what other international food items I can find. Would I return? As long as the visits continue to be uneventful, I will visit again from time to time.

This spot has so many wonderful food stands. Upon walking in, you can pick up a cart to explore all of the stands. My kids love this place as much as me since you can find so much variety. Our first stop is the very busy Amish soft pretzel stand. My kids love the standard soft pretzel dipped in melted butter and topped with rock salt. My personal favorite are the stuffed soft pretzels like the pretzels stuffed with roast beef and cooper sharp cheddar. Nothing tastes better! There are also many other stands that offer fresh produce, meats, cheeses and baked goods. I particularly like Bieler's Donuts, the same place you'll find packed lines in Philadelphia right here. It's such a fun place and my kids love it. But most importantly, this is dad's spot!

Using his wits, his ingenuity, and unparalleled levels of skill and perseverance, Aatami Korpi, who earns the moniker of "the man who cannot die," escapes not just bombs and machine gun fire but a plane deployed as a missile. And yet, the most moving moment of the film is not found in one of its many arresting action sequences but in a single line of dialogue, spoken by one of six Finnish men, who, along with one teenager and one boy, carrying hatchets, axes, and tools, interrupts the battle-finished Korpi's work on his new home to ask in Finnish, subtitled in English, "We thought you might need some help?" Speechless and shaking with relief and joy, Korpi watches the strangers get to work on his roof, walls, and foundation. That level of kindness, assistance, delight, joy, skill, and service can be seen in every vendor at the Dutch Country Market Thursdays through Saturdays at 9701 Fort Meade Rd in Laurel, MD. Whether it is homemade pretzels, pasta salads, chili, produce, meats, cheeses, popcorn, donuts, or varieties of dark chocolate, candy, or fudge you seek, you will find plenty to whet your appetite.
