This is my favorite giant food store for a lot of reasons they have everything I need and even when I don't can't find it they order it and they have it delivered directly to them. Customer service usually hold it for me until I can pick it up. Their Pharmacy team is amazing from pharmacist assistant manager, Miss Theresa Theresa, pharmacist manager, Mr. Sesay, Miss Melody, Pharmacy staffer Miss Sade, Pharmacy staffer. The ambience of this store is amazing. I love the fact that everyone is so friendly even if you walk in the Giant and don't know anyone they are all here to help. They even donate their food to any of the homeless who are in need of food that come in the store and sometimes can solicit customers for a dollar or something. Usually one of the Customer Service people will take that homeless person over to the side and bring them a hot meal and or allow them to get maybe three items that they need and that Giant Stafford will pay for it so that they can have something to drink and something to eat. I think that that is beautiful. This Giant is completely is completely about kindness, compassion, and Community. This is my favorite giant food store and I love the fact that they're always supporting some charity Saint Jude American Heart Association feed the Hungary donating to their local food pantries helping kids with school supplies. I love that they have a raffle every school year beginning of the school year. I have one maybe 3 raffles and I donated all of the materials back to the Giant because I no longer have a child who's in school he's now at university so when one year one a basket full of school supplies which I donate it right back to the Giant the following year I want Thanksgiving all turkey Thanksgiving box dinner which I donated it back to the Giant because I didn't need it and then one raffle I won tickets to see the Orioles play baseball and I donated those tickets back to the Giant and they could give them to whomever they want. I told them the 251st person that walked through the store could have those tickets and they did that and I am assuming that they enjoyed themselves at the game. I don't know. I did not go. I just love this Giant kindness Community compassion. read more

I get seafood a lot. Actually turn to giant to get shrimp often. Although I don't usually go to the odenton store, but I was in the area and did today. I simply asked the man to butterfly my shrimp before they steam them and he said they don't do that there.??? They should take lessons from every other giant store ive been in and take the two min it takes to butterfly shrimp upon request. It's not hard I guess the standards are different in odenton.... This giant is usually fully in-stock with all the grocery story essentials so it's convenient and you know they'll have what you need. The self-checkout line moves quick too which is beneficial for when you only need like 1 or 2 items and you don't have to wait in a long line. read more

This review is about me becoming sick on Friday evening. I felt like I was having a stroke. The evening staff, rung my things up & put them in the car for me at closing time. This is my favorite grocery store in the area. It is always neatly kept, the produce is always fresh, and they always have the dairy free heavy whipping cream substitute that my family and I like to use when preparing dishes that require a cream sauce. Also, the staff is always super helpful & to make matters even better, they have a Starbucks. What's special about a Starbucks you ask? Well, sometimes... in my history with chains being inside of other stores, the quality isn't as good as the actual stores bc they're licensed stores and aren't held to the same standard, and quality of the actual franchises. The level of Customer Service experience at this location was at an all time low. The cashier was very disrespectful and rude. When I called her out for the lack of service and race lighting (new term: think gaslighting but with racial undertones), she was offended and started trying to provoke me. When it started to escalate, I informed her that I planned on reporting her to management, and she offered to get her manager for me and to write down her name (numerous times). After I told her numerous times that I could read her name badge and can walk over to the Customer Service counter, she still kept trying to provoke me. She had the nerve to write her name anyway on a piece of paper and toss it at me. When I spoke to the manager she apologize but had the audacity to tell me that this wasn't the cashier "normal behavior". Customer Service 101: The manager's role is to diffuse the situation, actively sympathize and find a solution. The manager was wrong for pacifying The cashier's behavior by stating that's not her normal behavior and she is one of her best cashiers. Quickly, I saw why the cashier was so eager to get her manager because they were cool and the manager had her back. This type of behavior is embedded in a person, inexcusable, and was normal for the cashier provided the right situation and the race of the customer. She could benefit from diversity and customer service training. I will think twice before visiting this location again. read more

Another day, another grocery store yall! In a previous review, I aged myself by talking about having a favorite grocery store. Well, during a pandemic, that goes out the window and you just go to wherever you can. This Giant location was pretty well stocked, despite it being one of the closest, and more popular, stores serving the area. I was able to find bread, canned goods, milk and eggs just fine. The meat selection was a bit low, but that is to be expected. It might be our new reality unfortunately. I know the company is trying be keep things as safe as possible with employees wearing masks and gloves - I appreciate the effort! Many problems behind the scenes. As someone that completed returns often, there were frequently soiled produce and meat that was on the shelves but had expired. The bathrooms often aren't thoroughly cleaned unless necessary, and the last time I came in as a customer, there was no toilet paper available. The cashiers are lovely, but with how terrible management is, most are tired and fed up at this point. Hours were cut towards the end of my job there, and many individuals were struggling with heavy pushback from upper management, who continued to over-hire. Also: they don't do any background checks whatsoever before they hire. We've had two alcoholics drunk at work and one heroine user. As a previous employee and a customer, I suggest another grocery store. read more

Move over Food Lion and Fort Meade commissary there is someone new catching my attention. It is basically on the level of Harris Teeter. This Giant is new and located in the Odenton Shopping center. I am a techie and I like that they have the Scan It system that automatically totals your bill as you shop so you just pay at checkout. It is a new store so of course it is very clean and the staff is oh so helpful. I ordered a party tray and normally it is a 48 hour turnaround but they were more than accommodating and had it ready for me in less than 24 hours. I hope that they are not just putting up a façade since it is new and trying to impress the new customers. The deals are very good and many other stores better step their game up in the area. The parking lot is a bit a tight and you need to keep your head on a swivel. Many people in the area are only looking for a parking spot or their cell phone and not paying attention to anything else. read more

I was shocked that this grocery store had meat, eggs, milk, cheese, etc during the corona virus pandemic. Great job with the stocking and keeping product on the shelves. This used to be my favorite store, but the quality of the "fresh" products are getting worse. Specifically meat and produce. I went to the store the other day, and the produce was moldy, again... Not just one item but multiple items. This has been a trend for a while, before it was mostly wilting, with few rotting pieces, but lately a lot more food is left rotting or moldy. I took photos, not sure how to upload it yet, but I will if I can. As for meat, sometimes it goes bad way before the expiration date. To the point where you open the package and it makes you gag, but its a few days before the date. I tried to ask about the produce the other day, but all the staff did was mumble something and walk away. Normally the staff is friendly, but it felt like I asked them a question that they were not allowed to talk about. I didn't give it one star because, their packaged goods have a good variety, and they sell Boar's Head at the deli. I also like the shell gas rewards, but I think a lot of stores are doing gas rewards now too. I'm going to try and find a better store, for produce and meat. read more

Customer service is always great. Employees are nice and helpful. I have had a few issues with food dates. It's not my job to have to check expiration dates. My grandson went to get me some store made bread. He is 14. When he got home it was a day old. I used it for garlic bread. So it wouldn't get wasted. But I wanted to use it for sandwiches. Their rotisserie chickens also have to be checked. They are held past their hold times frequently. When they are not old they are good. read more

Came here on grand opening weekend (they even had someone playing electric piano jazzy music). This store has the hand held scanners that let you scan each item you put in your cart + get a running total, plus makes checkout more autonomous (neat idea!). The store is bright, well stocked and open. There is lots of space between the isles. Upon entering is a Starbucks, and the take and carry is conveniently just beyond that. Store is laid out well, and has a pretty good variety. Some organic offerings as well. That said, some items were missing or oddly place (bratwursts in a different location from hot dogs and cheddarwursts), but still not hard to find. Overall a pleasant shopping experience. I'd be interested to see how service and pricing is AFTER the first month of being open. read more

Giant is a new addition in the Odenton Shopping Center. I started shopping here to see the difference in pricing and because I was unhappy purchasing produce from the commissary only to see it wither within a short amount of time. I can attest that the produce offerings are fresher and the price point is comparable. They could stand some improvement in a few ethnic items (food, hair care) but I'm sure if you speak w/customer service they may be able to special order items for you. This store is well lit, good customer service and even has a Starbucks in the front of the store. There is a PNC bank located near the customer service desk and they do trivia over the intercom for cash and prizes to bring awareness to their existence. I appreciate the employment of persons with disabilities within this location. Parking is in a shopping center so it is like frogger sometimes crossing when you exit the store. read more

The last few times I been in the store one of the customer service manager ( I assume) was working the self check out. The entire time I was scanning my items she was watching me like I wanted to take something! The last time she did that I walked up to her and asked her to check my bags and receipt so she know I paid for all my items!! I was very offended and do not go in the store anymore unless I pretty much have no other choice!! The peapod delivery by giant, which I know isnt at this location but they are smart and dont have yelp for peapod, is very hit or miss. Usually late, many times outside the 4 hour window so if you need the food for anything that day forget it. Always check breakables, half the time they will be. Forget ice cream unless it is the dead of winter. Why do I use it - 10 bucks for someone to shop and carry it up stairs is worth it to me rather than go to a store that is understaffed with cashiers. Its convenient for mediocre service. Be warned the meat seems to be done by butchers training to work in the stores and the veg seem to be the ones they need to move from the stores asap so they are best consumed quickly. You pay 10 bucks for the service and they give you 10 bucks service. Know thats what you are getting into. read more

We waited what seemed like an eternity for this Giant to open. My wife is in this store almost every day. She could spend all day in there probably. I go at least once a week. It's basically spotless. The staff is very helpful and friendly and the store is the best kept store i go to. I know its only been open a few months but they do a great job keeping it up. The shelves are constantly well stocked and it's so bright and cheerful. There are a couple other grocery stores within a few miles that have poor lighting, or lights just burned out and not replaced, and have a "grubby" look to them. You almost want to take a shower when you get home,not to mention poor quality perishables. If you shop at the others nearby do yourself a favor and drive the extra mile or two to the Odenton Giant. Wow!!!! I purchased 2 lbs of lump crab meat yesterday for a birthday celebration. When I opened up the container, the smell was so foul that it was unbelievable. It smelled as bad as Shoreline's trash dumpster. I had to open my windows to get the offensive smell out of the house. I am so glad that I live only 5 minutes away. I promptly returned the crab meat and was issued a refund. The young lady at the courtesy counter was nice but didn't offer any type of apology nor did she seem shocked. We just moved to this area and we're not happy with the Safeway that we live next to. A stranger suggested we try this Giant instead and boy we're we impressed. The store was clean, well stocked, smelled good and had everything I was looking for. What really impressed me though, was the service. My 2 yr old was fussing and the store manager came over and gave her a balloon and banana to cheer her up. We also spoke with the guy at the meat counter who was very helpful and the lady at the checkout who was also friendly and helpful! What a different experience from other grocery stores I've been to nearby. We will definitely take the 10 min. Drive to come here instead of our local store. read more

I've been coming to this giant since I was recently stationed at fort Meade. About a month ago I was at the deli department, I asked politely if I could get turkey sliced thin and neatly stacked when I was asked how I'd like it. The deli server crumpled it up in his hands and threw it in the bag. I thought it was odd...the manager without me saying a word comped me for it and apologized. She said it won't happen again. Tonight I'm back the deli attendant asks the same thing I and I give him the answer politely. He paused as if he looked angry at me. Crumpled the meat up, a little confused I asked if he could please stack it nicely and not crumple it to pieces and he yelled at me. He packaged it up gave it to me and I gave it back when he said "fuck it" had me wait 20 minutes we'll he helped the guy next to me and had his co worker in the back help me. His co worker neatly stacked the meat without crumpling it up in his hands. Took him like 2 minutes. What's the deal giant ???? read more
