This is a VERY popular golf course in Fort Mill, SC. This town has doubled in size since I moved here 6 years ago, it was 15K. Golf has become so popular, everyone one is playing it. So many young people, junior golfers with their parents, couples, seniors and even super seniors. This course has close to 400 members and stays booked all the time. Even so the Super and the crew do a fantastic job of keeping this course in top shape. The greens are exceptional, running fast and true they are always a challenge. This week I experienced a first. I was standing on the hill beside the fairway bunker on the right about 140 yards out. On the green, I saw what I thought was a head cover. My approach shot landed right beside it and all of a sudden it starts moving. That's no headcover and as I got closer, I realized it was a massive Snapping Turtle. It's been weeks since a rain and in a drought this guy somehow got off his path and was looking for some water. From my pic you can see Eric, the Ranger with a sand rake trying to get him into the near by creek. We don't get Gators in the upland but we sure get some big Snappers! read more

Fort Mill Golf Club has a decent course layout and has solid practice facilities even though you hit off mats mostly. The course is not hard, but does have challenging holes. The greens are normally well kept but slow compared to others in the area. Hole 2 is one of my favorite in the area because of the risk/reward and how the water on the right and large tree on the left force you to make a great drive. Hole 12 is my least favorite in all of Charlotte for its lack of a decent landing area anywhere on the hole. Unfortunately, the cart GPS system seriously takes away from the experience. The GPS system is overly restrictive and frustrating. The carts often stop abruptly and force you to reverse to blaring beeping, even in spots that aren't near greens or any sensitive areas. Many holes run side by side, and you should be able to access your ball quickly, but the GPS won't let you. It slows down play considerably. I understand protecting the course is important, but the way this system is set up just doesn't make sense. It creates longer rounds and leaves players annoyed. I've experienced this on multiple visits this year, and I've heard the same feedback from others. read more

I really enjoyed Fort Mill golf club when I played there this past Sunday! The course is extremely walkable and is a really fun layout and challenge. The front 9 is a little more open and gives you some leeway with your teeshots but the back is much tighter and will punish you for not being accurate off the tee. It's $75 riding 18 and $45 walking 18 so a really good deal if you are able to walk. Mid-April '22 the greens were really firm and the fairways could use some work but I think they just needed some rain for the course and it'll be in great shape. Will be back! read more

Played Fort Mill CC on June 2nd. Really disappointed in the course condition. Lot of burnt tee boxes, fairways and driving range. Some bunkers had sand and some had some type of clay looking stuff that was loaded with these little black stones. Some teeing areas were so hard you couln't put a tee in . On one tee box I had to use my driver to pound the tee in. Really poor shape everywhere on the whole course. The fee should be no more that $20.00 for 18 holes. There was more than enough rain in February, March, April to soak this place. Don't they have any sprinkler systems there? Looks like poor management and the greenskeeper needs to be replaced! Is it possible to get some grass on the driving range. Donald Ross is probably turning over in his grave! I won't play there again until they make some magor improvements. Ed A. read more

Visiting from Texas. Played 18 holes the course was packed and the only time pay was slowed down was on a couple of par 3's. Everyone kept a good a pace. The greens were terrific and rolling at about 11. Wide fairways and trees were trimmed with no low hanging limbs. Definitely recommend everyone play this course. The free bottled water was a plus. All you can drink. The price was fair for the beautiful course. read more

The customer service here is absolutely unacceptable. When we arrived, our reservation was "lost" so they put us in another group. We are very new players and therefore were not moving fast but were greeted on hole 2 by an employee, Ken. Being new players, we were playing best ball prior to our encounter to make sure we were being considerate of other players. He essentially told us to move faster as we were inconvenient to him and the players in front of us. He continued to stalk us at the next 3 holes to make sure we were speeding up. Our second encounter with him, he asked us to skip the hole completely. The course is fine but certainly will never go back or recommend to my many golf colleagues. read more

Kicked off course for being 10 min behind pace. Even though we had to wait for the old ladies behind us who couldn't keep the ball in their own fairway. Was harassed by groups behind us who tee'd up less than 5 min behind us. At the turn old man at the pro shop said if we stopped playing he would give us a refund. Was probably for the best bc the course is not worth the money. And the staff sucks. Even had a greenskeeper working while we were putting. And then he almost got hit by the old ladies behind us lol. The golf course is ok, the service and friendliness of the staff is horrible. Do yourself a favor and book online so you don't have to deal with Bill in the shop. For a lazy Tuesday afternoon in November, life is way too short to deal with jerk like him. Don't let him ruin your day, either get mentally prepared for stupidity and a complete lack of friendly customer service before you get on the course, or better yet just go somewhere better. read more

This course was just ok. The layout was really fun but the fairways and tee boxes weren't good. A lot of mud and rocks and bare spots. Not worth $55 on a Monday morning. That being said this would have been a 3.5 star rating had it not been for the staff. The arrogance and snobbery was unbelievable. You would have thought this was Augusta National the way they acted. The guy that took the reservation was rude. The guy that checked us in was rude. The guy on the course at the turn was rude. Said we needed to hurry up and "we don't play like that around here". It took us a little over 2 hours to play nine but there was NO ONE behind us all day. So what's the difference? We are all single digit handicaps so we get it but the rudeness and smug attitude from every person we came in contact with was unbelievable. Who do you think you are? Shameful but we will never be back nor will we ever recommend this place. read more

Senior golfers: Beware of the Tuesday & Thursday Fort Mill Senior leagues. They are run by two classy gentlemen, but several of the actual golfers take all the fun out of playing. So many are far too serious for the guys I golf with & I. It's like they think they made the cut at Augusta every week. After playing in both Tuesday & Thursday for over a month, we finally said life's too short to put up with such grumpy old men. read more

Young man named John working the food area was an absolute delight! He made great food and kept us all entertained!

If I could give negative stars I absolutely would. I've played or hit balls there 20 times and the personnel all have the worst attitudes and communication skills. The course is average at best. read more

My husband and I are looking to move near a golf course within the suburbs of Charlotte. We checked out Fort Mills because of the location and cost. We were legitimately looking for a place to purchase a membership for when we move. Unfortunately, we were terribly disappointed. We paid for 2 golfers to play 9 holes. On the second hole, we were approached by the ranger- he told us to hurry up to keep pace and that 2 people couldn't play out of the same bag-- we were literally hitting into the 2-some in front of us and we traveled from MN so we didn't bring 2 bags... the ranger said "we'll let it slide this time." We are puzzled why he had to say anything in the first place then? So, we continued to hit into the people ahead of us to "keep pace" and ended up stopped after hole 8 because they were so bothersome. We'd rather spend top dollar at a country club and be treated with respect than come here again read more

It's a fun track but I only play when I find a deal. Usually it costs as much as one of their sister courses, Springfield. It's no Springfield. It's not work anymore than $50 in my opinion. It is nice that the front nine is easy to walk if you want too. read more
