You really can't go wrong with an event held near the water, even if you don't get a direct view since there's no actual windows upstairs(that I've noticed). The space is elegant, well-designed, and consistently organized to perfection each year. Everything runs smoothly, from valet parking at the entrance to easy access via stairs or elevator. The second floor is mostly hallways with large ballrooms throughout, making it easy to navigate between spaces. Overall, it's always such a fun and memorable experience. I would highly recommend this venue to anyone looking to host a special event or function--you won't be disappointed.

The only availability they had was for Saturday morning at 9 am for 60 minutes. I agreed and made the booking. I asked if we would have access to the other amenities at the spa and they informed that it was a small spa, but you could have access to the pools. The day of the massages we arrived early to fill out paperwork, changed and sat in the relaxation room until it was time for our appointment. They did offer us complimentary water, tea, and cookies. I think at 9 am they could have offered light breakfast pastries instead of cookies and brownies as I know they serve breakfast upstairs. When it was time for the massages, they put my husband and I in separate rooms. I was under the impression that booking a couples massage we would be in the same room. The massages themself were nothing impressive. The staff outside the room were pretty noisy sounded like they were stocking things and talking. Someone even walked into my husband's room during his massage. When we went to check out the person checking us out looked like she might have been training, but she was also not the most pleasant. A 20% gratuity is already included so we paid almost $400. for 2 60-minute massages that were just mid. Not worth the price especially when they don't have any other amenities to offer besides the pool.

One of the guys was able to book his reservation. I called and they couldn't find the hold under my friend's name. I explained that another person in our party was able to book but the representative seemed a bit incompetent. Another gal called the sales department and manager about 10 times and only received voicemail. Two of us tried calling a few days later and received voicemail. Others didn't even bother calling since we didn't have any luck getting through. Eventually my friend just had to cancel these plans.

All the FIFA games were on for the fans. The drink service was a little slow, but the staff made a great effort. They just need more staff in the bar areas. I would recommend having breakfast, lunch, and dinner early when they open because they get busy, and they are understaffed to keep tables clean and set up for new guests. The bathrooms were a little old-fashioned. I was expecting a sexy shower to really feel those Caribbean vibes in Florida. Housekeeping was not a 5 out of 5, to be honest. The ladies were nice, but there was not much consistency. I'm on vacation--I want fresh towels, a made bed, and soap every day when I come back from the pool and a sunny day. We saw that there was still a lot of construction going on, so I'm hoping to come back and see changes for the better. But for being the first all-inclusive resort in Florida, it is a really close copy of a Caribbean all-inclusive hotel. Every employee was welcoming and friendly. We have been staying on nettles Island and renting for many, many years. This was easily the worst…read moreexperience we ever had renting from an owner. But more on that later... As far as the actual amenities the house had most of what you needed however knives, pots/pans, and utensils were extremely old and dull which made meal prep difficult. The gas grill was so filthy and covered in greasy sludge we didn't use it (took pictures though in case owner tried to blame us...more on that later). While the unit had bath towels to use they were so smelly with a mildew scent my wife literally dry-heaved when she dried her face off after getting out of the shower....NOT KIDDING!!!....LITERALLY DRY HEAVED! I believe the towels were probably left in the washer for a day or so before being dried and when that happens they are ruined and you can't get the smell out. We washed/dried/folded them and left them in the laundry room for the week. We used our own towels. Gross. Speaking of gross, the floors were very dirty and every corner of the linoleum throughout the kitchen and hallway and bathroom had dirt and grime. The owner charged a significant "cleaning fee" however I don't believe she actually pays anyone to clean it between visitors. We had to use our own cleaning products to scrub the bathroom sinks and toilets before use. I wiped heavy mildew/mold off the main bathroom sink. We actually wore our flip flops in the house all week because the floors were gross. The irony in all of this is that the owner actually sent me a message after we left thanking us for "leaving #669 spotless". We of course cleaned up after ourselves and left it in better condition than we found it. However that place was far from "spotless". I don't believe she actually has a very good working definition of "spotless" or "clean". As far as the rest of the regular "wear and tear" on the place it's what you would expect from a typical rental. We realize it's not the Taj Mahal or the Ritz Carlton. That's not why we, or anyone, go to Nettles. We love the atmosphere, and the people, and the beach. Now for the "owner". This was actually the only real negative part of our trip. When we arranged the rental many months in advance we spoke with her by phone. She seemed very pleasant and accommodating. She sent us a bill and we paid in full right away (months in advance). At a later date she eventually sent us a rental agreement to sign and return. (Mind you, she already had our money and bill is paid in full). The first attempt, for whatever reason, the email hung up in the "sent folder". When I finally sent it again, due to a computer glitch, it sent the last page of the PDF file ( you can clearly see the file said "page 5 of 5"). This is where it gets bizarre... She called friends of ours who live on the island and began to complain to them and demand my phone number (which she already had because she spoke with us) and demand that I send the file again. I immediately called her and asked her to stay on the phone with me while I sent the file again (the entire time being extremely apologetic and polite). She confirmed that she received it and all the pages were there. She began to then verbally accoste me and raise her voice and threaten to cancel the rental (again she already had my payment in full). She then said if it wasn't for the fact that my friends who live on the island vouched for me and the fact that she trusted them so much that she would cancel the rental. The irony being my friends have never met her before and wouldn't "know her from Adam". She then demanded utility bills or other mail showing my home address (after already having a copy of my Drivers License). She admitted this was so she could sue me if there was damage to the property. I immediately got an uneasy feeling that I was not going to see any security deposit back. There was much more to the conversation but rest assured, it was nothing short of bizarre for someone who probably builds a business on "word of mouth" to be so abrasive and yelling on the phone. It was a surreal experience. When I got off the phone I immediately called the nettles Island rental office and inquired about any open units as I feared the worst when I had to check in. Thankfully I didn't need the one and only unit that was available that week through the rental office. Check in with her did not go smoothly as she did not meet us at the unit when we arrived. We had to wait at a friends home waiting for her to return to Nettles. Needless to say, avoid this rental unit. There are far too many other rentals on the island to have to deal with this headache.
