As an adult, he became Carnegie's business partner in the Carnegie Steel Company and as a result became very wealthy. The Phipps family donated to the town of Palm Beach one of the most significant gifts in county history, an ocean to lake property that is now known as Phipps Park. The Phipps family had established public parks in Palm Beach and in the New York area. Phipps Park on the St. Lucie Canal was made possible with a land trade involving Michael Phipps which resulted in the public recreation facility. Michael, born January 10, 1910, in England was also associated with the St. Lucie Training Track for thoroughbred horses on SR 76. He passed away on March 13, 1973. Phipps Park is part of the St. Lucie South Recreation Area which has a 55 acres of camping and conservation land on the Okeechobee Waterway. In 2006 FEMA installed 35 traditional primitive campsites, and 24, 20-amp electric sites during the 2006 hurricanes when the park was being used for FEMA housing. Campground renovations began in 2018 and continue to this day. There are now 99 RV sites and 19 adventure tent sites that come with canvas tents. In the park you will also find hiking trails, fishing pier, a new boat ramp and dock, showers, laundry facilities, picnic pavilions, and restrooms. This park is popular with anglers who enjoy fishing both fresh and salt water. Next to the camping area is the St. Lucie Lock and Dam built in 1941 and managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers .The lock was built for flood control replacing the natural outflow of the St. Lucie River from Lake Okeechobee. This waterway is now part of a cross-Florida navigational route connecting the Atlantic Ocean to Lake Okeechobee and on to the Gulf. On the north side of the lock, the one mile St. Lucie Nature Trail traverses in a one mile loop through a subtropical forest next to a primitive group campsite. There is also a volunteer manned visitor's center which provides information on the history of the lock and the local ecosystem. With the historic lock, fishing options, and hiking trails, Phipps Park is worth exploration even if you don't plan on staying overnight to camp.

We were able to put our big ole truck next to the rig easily. It was super quiet and everyone was friendly. The owners are very kind and caring. They seem like they enjoy what they are doing. The only reason I gave this park a four instead of a four five is there are no laundry facilities or bath house. Although we didn't need either, it's good to know in advance so you can be prepared. It takes about 15 minutes to get into town. Not many good restaurants nearby but we decided to cook. We also perused the flea market. Okeechobee is a truly unique place where everyone says hello, holds the door open and is friendly.

There are gators in the lake, so you don't want to swim in the lake! Wifi, outdoor pool, pet friendly, gated. Although not many amenities, but there is a big tiki by canal equipped with outdoor seating, great for chilling and hanging out with friends. Big dog park for our fur baby to run freely. Dog bags are provided through out the park, very thoughtful. However there's no trash by the dog park or anywhere near by to throw away. Can only go to big dumpster. We love this park! It's a great location for weekend getaway for us. We are thinking of coming here once a month!

After finally reaching the house manager, I requested a check since the credit card had been cancelled in the interim. Instead despite explicit instructions to which Robert responded, he sended it to the defunct card. Now I am still fighting to get the money!!! He is AWFUL TO DEAL WITH and I say to avaoid all his properties. They own a ton of them and do not care ab out anything except people' money without providing service.

Very cheap with everything from leaky ice cube trays(no ice maker) poor quality bed, as cheap as you can go beach chairs, no umbrella, miniature coffee maker we didn't even attempt to use. This is not the typical unit for this resort from our experience. Pool area is great, easy beach access. The resort has a major restaurant attached that is always packed for good reason, excellent food and drink and right on the water. 5 star for the resort, 3 star for our unit 401

stayed here a little over 2 years. we were on a canal site and the price was right, our truck…read moreneeded expensive work so we were kind if stuck. i tried talking to the owner about things but she just never seemed to care enough to fix the issues or would blame something else or the residents. here is my honest review . pros: i liked that is was a smaller park , beautiful on the water with an almost constant breeze ( gale at times) laundry room, 1 guest bath with shower, communty room right on the water, boat docks, concrete pads, nice landscaping, gas station eith a subway and a liquor store across the street if you drink, if you love bird watching tons of birds! 30/50 amp available. cons: small park, more difficult for larger rigs to get into. laundry room- 3 washers 3 dryers.the entire time i was there never a time that all worked. by the time we left i had given up on doing laundry there ! i was told i have to use them a certain way for them to work(?) really? BTW your husband is not a handy man! guest bath: was behind the laundry room, you have to walk through a breezeway and it is poorly lit and unsafe! water: there were times it was so over chlorinated my eyes burned in the shower! on the flip side the sulphur was so bad and stunk so bad i could not even take a shower and definitely dont drink it. management: noone is ever in the office and can be quite frustrating, you have to call the number posted to get him to come to the office. i once told him i was expecting medication and needed it, i finally saw it had been delivered 3 days prior and he had never checked the LOCKED mailbox! unstable rent- enough said RATS- 8 months of hell while they chewed holes throughout my rv, spent over 200$ on traps and finally poison, it was absolutely horrible. told owner about it, not once did they try and put a trap or poison out to help, instead it was my fault! i found a total of 38 dead rats in my camper , HUGE rats! imagine the stench! grass cutting- there is no schedule and the grass can get quite tall, and letting your 70 something residents cut the grass because your too cheap to do it is messed up! NOT DOG FRIENDLY! no dog park and no where to really walk them the road in front if the park is very busy. the owner does not like dogs, its difficult to see to pick up your pets poop with tall grass poor lighting. If you like to fish good fishing and boat docks available. Hope this helps someone!

The house is 25 steps from the beach and is stocked with tons of towels/beach toys/supplies- anything you could ever want at the beach. In the ground floor of the house there's a hottub/plunge pool and various seating areas to hang out and play ping pong too! The entire house has at least 10 large screen TVs which have all the channels you'd ever want to watch.
