Cold Schmidt's are a great compliment to the backyard, twice-cooked, smoke burger. The jalapeño poppers are packed with stadium nacho cheese, the cheese curds perfectly fried, and the tots toasted to totfection. If you order the California Burger you've got your best chance at a non-fried, non-pickled vegetable. No, it's not an avocado, but the lettuce and tomato should hit the spot. The service was super friendly, and they were very accommodating for a large group. The ambience definitely has that local Fort Saloon flair. If you run out of gas you might be able to score some at the bar, but hold back the wooden nickel until the gas shows up. If you're in the area and looking for something to eat, grab your drinking hat and a bottle of tums and keep your eye on the smoke barreling into the bar, your burger's almost done.

Pecan smoked Prime Rib. Wow never thought I'd find this here. It's worth the effort to get here.

Pecan smoked prime rib outstanding. This place is packed because of the great food! Out of the way but packed with locals. Service was great. The owner was at our table many times during the evening.

Love THE FORT ! It's turned into a nice little local restaurant / bar. Locals gather - owners circulate and make sure you are happy with your food & drinks . They have daily food specials ( not just the typical bar deep fried snacks) this is real food cooked to order - steaks , pork chops, burgers, sandwiches etc & their salad bar is nice - not big but well stocked & fresh! They are friendly & TVs have the sport games playing . We are local, stopped in just to check them out & we've been back a couple times with great experiences each time. Friendly staff - great place!

It gives off the vibe of a sports bar but also a place to sit and have a casual meal. The fried pickles came out hot and crispy and they were wonderful! Even after sitting and munching on them after 5 minutes the ones that were still in the basket were still warm. The PB+J burger was amazing! It has a nice little kick with every bite you took. It had the perfect amount of spicy that wasn't too overwhelming. The BBQ wings were also very good! Cooked to perfection and had the perfect amount of sauce on them. The cheese balls were really good but had too much cheese in each bite you took. The cheese balls were also much larger than what we were thinking they were going to be. Roughly the size of a golf ball. The service was splendid. There was one waiter and bartender working while we ate but you wouldn't have guessed that by how fast our drinks and food came out. Our waiter was very attentive and checked in on us, while waiting on every other table in the building. If you are passing through town this is definitely a place to try out!

We sat outside, as there was a nice view of the lake. Put your elbows on a menu, or you'll burn your arms on the metal table. Ordered maple syrup burger and subbed salad for fries. There wasn't much maple syrup and a tiny bit of bacon. I removed the lower bun also. Beef Burgers are fresh and are 1/3#. Bison and Elk are smaller at 1/4 # and frozen. Service was a little spotty. No check-in after we ate or refills of water. Needed to go inside to pay. They do charge 3% to use a credit card, which is not disclosed anywhere. I paid in cash anyway. There is much better food and value compared to Sandbar. Better views, too.

We ordered different burgers and wings, and they were excellent. The burgers were cooked to order, wings were good, and the fries were excellent. Shout out to Abby, our server, who was professional, attentive, and kind. The place has a great "Up North" vibe with an awesome view of the lake. Prices were fair, and bathrooms were clean and updated. BONUS: several gluten-free options including pizza and buns.
