I stopped in looking for a new pair of running shoes and was immediately welcomed in and assisted. It was 30 min prior to closing so I knew I was cutting it close but that did not change the quality or the service. Krystal helped and she was knowledgeable and explained things thoroughly. I originally came here for the technology. This venue has two machines that help determine the type of shoe/sole you need. The first piece of technology is this 360 degree camera and pressure device. It takes a 3D picture of your foot and record the pressure points on your feet. The second piece of technology is the slow motion camera at the base of a treadmill. They watch how you walk in slow motion to determine the best shoes/soles for you. I will definitely return to buy some shoes. read more

The day after Christmas, I brought my family into this store who was visiting from out of town because we enjoy shopping/supporting local running stores. We spent about 10 min looking around at the apparel and decided to buy some sunglasses on the way out since most of the apparel in the sizes we needed were sold out or fit oddly. For context, there were two male sales associates working in the store--one was very warm and welcoming, the second (about 5'10" with dark hair and round glasses) was standing very awkwardly by the back wall watching people mill about and I noticed he didn't really interact with any customers. Because the first employee had disappeared, we were met at the cash register by the second sales associate to pay for our purchase. No conversation was made by this employee and, after the transaction was completed, he said, "I'll get the door" and stood holding the door open waiting for us to leave. He never spoke to us while checking out nor did he say something like "thanks for coming", "have a good night" etc. It just felt like we had paid and were now expected to leave as he was holding the door open for us while I was still packing up my wallet and personal belongings at the checkout counter. The reason why I am writing this review is because the whole exit experience just felt weird, off. When we got into the car, my family all asked each other if we were just escorted out and why it felt that way when we were the only customers who came in and bought something out of the patrons we saw. I figured the best way to figure this out would be to call the store and ask if we were escorted out of the store for a particular reason which is what I did. It sounded like the same guy who checked us out answered the phone and he just said something along the lines of "this is how we operate" and hung up. I'm sorry, but if it feels off, it's off. Just a weird in person experience followed by a weird phone call. It's just a running store. I'd rather be in a relaxed atmosphere while shopping for running goodies than feel alienated or like I did something wrong because a staff member only interacted with me by rushing me out after a purchase. Unfortunately, the weird vibes I got from this place lingered after we left and the fact that we came way out of our way to support this local shop, I'm sad to say that we probably won't be back. read more

Came in today to buy some shoes and scan my feet. Brought my friend with me so she could buy some shoes herself. I ran over to Starbucks for a moment so we entered the store at different times. Came in about 5 minutes after she entered and wanted to be serviced to be scanned and buy some shoes. Finally, a running store that I can trust! I've seen these stores in other major cities, as well as in Southlake. So glad that Fort Worth has one. Fort Worth Running Company is a store that is, of course, geared strictly toward those that follow and participate within the sport of running/walking. Everything that you need is here, from quality name brand shoes, to shorts/tops, watches from different manufacturers, etc. Although the venue is a bit expensive (at least a 20-25% markup on certain items, particularly shoes), I think that its worth it, given the level of service + running knowledge provided by both the employees and regular customers. First off, an employee will diagnose your running method to determine which type of shoes are recommended. This is done via running/walking on a treadmill in the far corner of the store. You'll wear one of their "house shoes", which is more or less a generic brand that is made in the style of several other popular manufacturers. After videotaping your brief 20-30 second session, the employee will highlight if your ankles turn, etc. A plantar condition is really a serious concern to me, so I knew going in that I would have to make adjustments in my running regime with not only the type of shoes that I wore, but also the type of socks as well. Of course, FWRC will pick out 3-4 different types of shoes. So glad that this store carries 1/2 sizes. I normally wear New Balance or Asics, yet because I wear a size 12, these brands have started to hurt my toes as of late. The employee found a size 12.5 in Saucony, a brand that I've heard of, yet never wore. Wow, what a difference. I bit pricey ($129.99), yet I knew that after trying it that I would love it. Never hesitated for a second. I had an interest in other items, such as running shorts. There is a pair of shorts that highlight the Texas state flag for $40, yet I put that on impulse buy on hold for the moment. The taller and very athletic looking female employee (presumed to be the manager) was so cool that she gave me 10% off of my purchase due to my 40th birthday being the next day. Didn't expect that at all, yet it was highly appreciated. If I had any complaints whatsoever, its that there is little to no parking around the store. I wound up parking on the street next to a Vietnamese Pho restaurant plus Chuy's (I think). The employee let me know that there is a parking garage next to the building, yet due to its close proximity to an apartment building, I wasn't certain if this parking was free or not. Hopefully, there is signage in the future that will indicate where parking is for the Fort Worth Running Company. Altogether, a great experience with employees that know what they are talking about, as well as keeping you informed of running events in Fort Worth, such as the Cowtown Marathon, etc. read more

I was in the area, walking, and decided to stop in. I didn't buy anything, so I can't quite go five stars, but this is a pretty nice store. Not a huge selection, but a quality selection. I saw the treadmill, with camera, for the obligatory gait analysis present in any true running store. There was also a table with cards and brochures for upcoming walks and runs, so that's cool. Also had a clothing rack for sale items. There were some sweet deals. Kinda regret not getting a FWRC singlet (sleeveless shirt) now. Staff was friendly and took an interest in my "new to running" story. Kinda wish I had more time to hang out. Would have liked to get some info on the FW running scene. I have had some foot/shoe issues for a while now and I had gotten a pair of brooks tennis shoes and some different inserts from here before going to a podiatrist to see what I should do. Having plantar fasciitis has been horrible. I found out that I needed different shoes and a softer insert. I went back to the store on hulen street and Nick helped me( he is the manager). He was soooo very helpful and helped me find the right pair of shoes for my feet. I ended up with hoka tennis shoes and some flip flops. I also purchased a thera massager. The staff (she had blonde hair, forgot the name) was very helpful. The process of purchasing a shoe is simple and easy to understand as the sales rep walks you through finding a perfect pair. My friend was the one who bought the shoes, but I plan on returning for my own pair once I need new ones! Tip: bring a pair of socks! Otherwise, they'll have used (but washed) socks for you to wear temporarily. She explained the pressure points, how your feet is aligned, and asked to run on the treadmill. She came out with a few pairs of shoes to try on and explained each one while you tried them on. She also brought out inserts. There was no hard sell or pressure to buy. She was actually comforting, kind, and friendly! My friend purchased a cute pair of running shoes that she recommended. Price is average to other shoe stores. The shop itself is clean and organized. I recently had an issue with an ASICS running shoe purchased from FWRC. It was a product defect so I counted ASICS. Over several weeks I had 2 phone conversations and an online chat with them. The representatives on all 3 occasions were courteous and assured they would deal with my issue. I never received any assistance from ASICS. I then called FWRC and was told to stop by and they would help. And they did. They provided excellent customer service, specifically Mitchell who without hesitation, found new shoes for me and replaced due to product failure. I highly recommend Fort Worth Running Company. FWRunCo is what a running store should be: First, they fit you with the right kind of shoes. (I'm not talking Nike or Brooks. I mean motion control, neutral, over-pronator, cushioned trainer, flats, etc.) They are the only shoe store I know of that puts you on a treadmill, records your gate, watches it in slow-mo and says, "Here. You need this type of shoe. Now go run and be happy." Every other place lets you walk around inside. I don't know about you, but I can't tell how a RUNNING shoe feels by walking in circles, indoors, on carpet. Next, they employ people who actually run! The last sales rep who worked with me was a former cross country runner from OSU. Skins on the wall. They have them. I will listen to someone who has credentials before I listen to someone who just has a job at the mall. Also, they will fix what doesn't work. I took my GF to FWRunCo - all the way from North Dallas - to buy shoes. After a few miles, they didn't work out. Jim Newsom took them back, no questions, and gave her the right shoe. That simple. This kind of customer service is rare. Finally, Jim and FWRunCo support local running. They sponsor numerous races, host running clinics, and assemble training groups. My husband and I finally got off our lazy asses and started a couch to 5k program. Four weeks in, we realized we were having fun, were probably going to stick with it, and should invest in decent shoes before we fuck our feet/knees/entire bodies up. I wanted to go to Ft. Worth Running Company because of the fancy schmancy slow motion video analysis of your running. It turned out to be super useful for my husband, because he found out he runs some kind of wonky way - under pronate? Over pronate? One of those. The shoes he ended up getting made a MAJOR difference for him when we run, so that's awesome. I just run normally, so it was all about what felt good. We were helped by two different sales people and both were awesome. They will let you try basically every damn shoe in the place, no questions asked. My husband's sales guy was particularly awesome and was being really encouraging about our new hobby and telling us about awesome races he ran in Mexico that ended in epic beer drinking. I think we both tried on at least 8 pairs of shoes, which was not us being picky but seriously the amount of shoes they just started us out with. They were very cool about letting you jump on their treadmill and really taking the time to feel out a pair of shoes. Overall a really great experience. Don't be like the dicks who were ahead of us who got all the good info and attention and tried everything on and then were like "Thanks, we're going to go find them cheaper online." OUTSTANDING! My boyfriend has really bad shin splints and needed special shoes. We went to Luke's Locker and an orthopedic doctor to examine the way he ran. Both of those locations did not want to take the time to look and see what was wrong. They just went ahead and said that he had very low aches and needed inserts. This was not the case. He has very high aches and an overprotected stance. The guy here at the Fort Worth Running Company did a fantastic job examining his run in every pair of shoes he tried on to make sure that he received the perfect fit for his feet. He made sure through there slow motion controlled cameras that his alignment was straight. I can't tell you how happy I was to find a great running store in the Fort Worth area. I can't stand going to places like Foot Locker or a generic sporting goods store to buy my running shoes, since those stores don't usually have good selection or knowledgeable staff. That's definitely not the case here! Everyone who works there is a runner, and the store sponsors or is involved in several local runs, like the El Scorcho 25k/50k, so they know what they're talking about. The staff was very good about helping me find the right shoe. They have a treadmill in the store, with a video camera and a computer, so they put you in neutral shoes and have you run for about 30 seconds. Then they replay the video in slo-mo and explain why you should get a certain kind of shoe. Any good running store will have staff than can watch you run and walk to help figure out what kind of runner you are, but this is really one step above. First of all...I have to say I love this area. There are a ton of shops, restaurants and it's close to Trinity Park and the duck pond. You could totally go get your run on and then sit down for ritas over at Chuy's. I came here to pick up my medal and swag from the Cowtown Marathon not too long ago. It's an awesome running store with not only a nice selection of running clothes and a variety of shoes but they even have a program to train for races. If you live in the area and are looking to train for any distance from 5K to marathon for sure come here. They also have a social run every Monday night and often will hold races so definitely check out their calendar. Great stuff but really pricey. the staff was super nice. i went in to try on a sports bra i had read about on amazon. sure enough the bra on the shelf was $48, i ended up buying it on amazon for $26. the place is very cool, clean and you can tell the products are quality. the lady who was helping me said she was a rep, so she didn't know the layout of the store really well. but she was still really willing to help and nice. she brought me someone who could help me better with the sports bras and apologized she couldn't help more. i really like the place, i'll just have to price check on amazon before i actually buy anything there. :( read more

Excellent running store and best in Ft. Worth. I came in due to pain in my ankles and hips after running several miles. I was put through the fitting process and was recommended a certain pair of insoles with a high arch support and metatarsal pad to alleviate the pain I was feeling due to an improper fir with my previous shoes. I was also put in the Brooks Glycerin due to my running style. I was previously feeling pain after running ~6 miles, but I have run ~55 a week since with no pain. Highly recommend! read more

After reading Ryan's review, I waited for a paycheck and tax free weekend before going over to the Fort Worth Running Company. I ran on the treadmill and did not feel nearly as stupid as I thought I would. I do not have a neutral step when I run and need a motion control shoe. I also have wide dumb feet... little Polish bricks if you will rather than the slender footed girls. Wide plus motion control = two pairs of shoes to pick from but hey...I'm used to that with my dumb little brick feet. I walked out with a pair of Asics for 140. Pricey? yes. After my foot injury, trying to find new running shoes at the typical shoe store I got fed up did a little research online and found this gem of a store in Fort Worth. With all of the help they gave me related to my situation I doubt I'll ever go to any other place besides Fort Worth Running Company for this type of shoe again. Apparently this is their new location which happens to be in the respectable area that's connected to what seems to be an office building and a restaurant behind that. They only have a banner in front of the entrance and a billboard posting that it's the store so be on the lookout for a ten story white building on your left side if you're driving west on West 7th Street. But eitherway, the store itself is pretty posh and infinitely better than any Foot Locker or Champ's Sport I've seen in terms of running shoe selection, accessories and most importantly the staff. A guy in his mid 20s who I believe his name was Sam greeted me warmly and we got down to business. I told him of my foot injury and took that into equation when I got measured and tested on a neutral pair of shoes. As previous Yelpers stated, they'll fit you in a test pair, put you on a treadmill and have you walk and/or run a little. Afterwards they'll review the footage to notice the nuances of how you run and have a few pairs selected based off of those results. Sam brought out three pairs of various brands and personal requests to cover all bases and spent another five or ten minutes seeing what fit me best. Again, Sam was very thorough with his questions about what fitted me best and I can safely say that I got the best pair given my requirements and situation. I'm not too familiar with the price range of good running shoes but mine were ~$125 after taxes. But given the time, effort and knowledge of the people here who happen run as if it was a life essential, sponsor and organize events based on this hobby than it's worth far more than that. read more

I love this store! They are so friendly! After I was put in the treadmill to find out the right shoe for me, they brought out several pairs for me to try...After walking around in them all, I finally found a pair I felt comfortable in. I took them home and the next morning took them for a 2 mile run. It felt like I was running with bricks on my feet. They were so incredibly heavy and not what I was used to at all. I called them up and explained what was wrong and they said bring them in and we will see what we can do. I returned the next day and they fitted me with a different pair that was much lighter! They even let me run on the treadmill to try them out! Then they let me exchange, no problem at all! I was thankful that they were willing to take back a shoe I had already run in!
