But since the previous owners left, the store has gone right downhill. Many empty spaces on the shelves, across the various departments; the same items missing for several weeks running. Last week I came home without FIVE basic items I needed on a standard shop for two people; today it was three items on a top-up. The tags are on the shelves, just no product. It's obvious we need another grocery store in Port Dover to supply the growing population but also to create some competition. Who wants to be running in & out of Simcoe every few days just to pick up basic items? New owner -- please take notice!

There have been times when an advertised product was not available, but this store is at the mercy of the supply chain, and sometimes gets little or no product to put out. The staff here have always been kind and very helpful whenever asked, the store is clean and brightly lit. I for one am very thankful we have them to shop at. Surprisingly fresh produce with dragon fruit and other more rare tropical, seasonal fruits offered. The bakery permeated with fresh loaves steady. Sushi, nope, note in a million years. First off Hamilton has crap sushi knocking down grocery sushi an extra notch. The selection of meats was impressive, a little closer to a butcher specific offering. Plenty of cheeses and crackers for charcuterie. I personally love the large butter bricks and the bagged milk (seriously need this in the states). Chocolates were all on sale. I was hoping for the full complement of Vitamin water. Some very strange nonalcoholic beer offering since that has to be bought at LCBO, also some strange chip flavors (I like loaded and ketchup, but dill pickle doritos were gross). Service is slow, real slow. I'm not gonna call anyone out, but his name is the most hipster name ever and he just grandma'd us, 10 minutes to check out less than $80 of food. No connection at all with his small talk, put this guy in the back. All in all it was cool, better than I expected, but nothing hard to get used to.

Putting your kid in a cold metal cart is less than ideal (I will save the review of the OTHER store for later - you can tell by now that I am not a fan). Sobey's has everything you need. And the reno is beautiful. They are a reasonably priced option in town, as well. Plus - you can earn AirMiles. All in all, you have won me over Sobey's. I'd hug and kiss you if I could - LOL

This location was really fun to check out but it was smaller than some of the other locations and it was missing some items I would normally buy at Goodness Me. With that being said, it was still a great experience and we came home with some goodies to eat and cook at home.

But this time I went in. It is a medium-sized grocery store but large for an Asian one. The store is clean. The many shelves are fully and neatly stocked. They have all the typical Chinese products plus a few western products. They also have Japanese and Korean products. Prices are ok, some lower, some higher. It took me a while before I noticed there is a refrigerated room with seafood and meats, at the back of the store. Some seafood is available fresh/live while others (like shrimp) are stocked on ice with shells on them. The various meats are cut/sliced. There are some frozen products there too. If you are buying less than $30, you have to pay by cash. If you are buying more than $30, you can use a credit card.

Canadian treats, food, chips and the like. We usually come in here to pick up postcards, Ketchup Chips and they carry Presidents Choice Products. They have a parking lot and they are strict bout the one hour parking as let's be frank the area is a hard one to park around. It's not a big place but they have the basics and a little more. Enjoy!
