Had Fortis do my driveway a few years ago. 3300 sq feet. Plus patio between garage and pool .. the first 70 feet of my driveway from the street has little dimples everywhere. I had to replace my front porch because of several cracks with sinking and a piece of the sidewalk that was cracked and sinking. It was done ok for the price. The issues were with the finishes to the concrete, some clean up issues, even with me landscaper cleaned up a lot of and a retaining wall. read more

Hired Fortis for new driveway and garage floor back in 2016. Fast forward 2024. The driveway has aged horribly with normal use. Cracks everywhere, looks like it's 20+ Years old. Would never recommend this company! read more

Great from far, far from great. Work was completed last fall. They dug out the old black top, replaced it, took out brick on edges of driveway, poured and stamped concrete along driveway and two service walks. They also skim coated the stoop and stamped that. No less than four groups of workers asked me which stamp and which color the concrete should be so apparently no one in the company communicates with each other. Overall the work looks acceptable, from afar. We were happy, at first. Now six months later we ask them to address problems that should be covered under warranty and we get no response. The apron was chipped terribly by the workers. At first it didn't look terrible but after a single winter we can see that it's a problem. The sealant on the stamped concrete is chipping off all over. We didn't expect that to last more than a year, but it should have lasted more than six months. The stoop pattern doesn't match the rest of the walks. It could have but the workers were sloppy and working fast. Fortis returned once to add some stain so the stoop and service walks sort of match. Now it just looks like brown nicotine stains all over. Terrible sloppy work with a good sales pitch. Find another company to work with! read more

Where do I even begin? I will do a two part review, one based on customer service and one based on their work. We were listing our house this summer and our Realtor suggested we put in a new driveway for curb appeal. So we went ahead and got some quotes. We went with Fortis based on their price and neighbor recommendation. The sales guy that came out was helpful and friendly. When I called (mid-June) to find out how we proceed, the woman on the phone said we need to call with the permit number and they will get us on the schedule. This ensued weeks of fighting with the village of Bartlett over replacing the sidewalk in front of our house. Not their fault, but added to the timeframe here. I finally got the permit from the Village around the end of June. So I called and I got a different story from a different person. Now I had to email our permit and signed paperwork and it would be 4-5 weeks. Fine. So weeks go by... I keep calling to check on where we are on the schedule. They finally could come out on July 29th and took out the driveway. We had to wait a couple days for the Bartlett inspector to come out and approve before they put laid the new one. I called on Friday saying they approved and we are ready, the woman said they would be there Monday or Tuesday. Great. It wasn't until I called Thursday and gave the person in scheduling an ear dull that they finally showed up on Friday, August 7th to put down our new driveway. Mind you, at this point our house was under contract and closing in a couple weeks. That is 9 days they left us without a driveway. Then we had to wait 7-9 days depending on the heat to even drive on it. So we were without a driveway from July 29th through August 16th. And then she told me you couldn't drive a moving truck on the driveway for 30-45 days! And the whole time I had told her we were selling our house and moving. Ugh. It was just a mess. Their customer service was one of the worst experiences ever and I would go with anyone else to avoid this headache. Now, the driveway was beautiful, looked great and we enjoyed it for the two weeks we got to use it before we moved. read more

Worst experience ever I had in my life with the building companies. They changed my garage floor and drive way. Garage floor has a wrong slope now with puddles everywhere. They came later to cut the concrete in order to fix it and did it even worse - you can check attached pictures. Also during the rain water comes inside to garage from outside. The guys are not following the building codes. The guy named Joe was yelling at me at my home, very unprofessional. Was telling that it would not be possible to make garage door level lower. Michael Hertz promised to make at least 1.5 inch slope in garage and to fix the drain they cut in order to extend driveway 4 days before they started - pure lie, nothing was done. Avoid this company at any cost, save your nerve cells. This guys are rude and unprofessional. read more

I actually forgot how bad this company is. They did a terrible job. I had a flyer in my door today and was surprised they are still in business. Do yourself a favor and get multiple quotes. There are way better reputable companies in the area. The reviews don't lie. It's clear they get lucky once in awhile. There personal concrete truck leaked oil all over my drive. Save yourself the disappointment and do not use Fortis. Signed a contract with them in April . They were supposed to start 6 weeks later, so beginning of June. Here we are mid August and Andro is ignoring my and my contractors phone calls and texts. His excuses about rain got pretty old when May and June we were experiencing a drought. My project is so far behind now that I'm hoping we finish before winter . I should have read all the negative comments on here before deciding with Fortis. Awful company. I don't even know where to start. We signed contract on April 2nd 2021. They started work second week of June and we are still far from being done. They made so many mistakes and don't want to fix it. They forgot to do the stamped walk path (as per signed contract) so they tried to covered it with doing overlay without consulting with us, and hoping we wouldn't notice. Also, The border of the driveway looks awful. They messed up again and instead of removing the concrete they tried to fixed it by patching their mistake and it looks horrible now! They damaged our brick, siding and garage door when pouring the cement. It splashed all over. Damaged our driveway (which we had power washed and sealed a week prior Fortis coming) scratched, chipped, left tire marks no cracked the sidewalk with parking cement mixer on the driveway!I have hard time to contact them and have them come and finish the job they've started. We had a great experience with Fortis. The communication was excellent. Had multiple people emailing and checking in from the office with the time line and letting us know what was up with the permit, etc without me calling to ask. Andro was our contact and he responded to texts instantly (even on the day of when we had a question of the "cuts" in the concrete). We did a huge double wide concrete driveway with them, a long sidewalk and a deep stoop. Everything passed permit quickly. Six months later it is still looking fabulous. We did not do any fancy designs We had a few delays with rain, but that is to be expected. All in all I would totally use them again. read more

Three years ago we had a large patio in the backyard and front stoop and walk done. The back patio sidewalk and stoop were poured with one batch of cement. The sidewalk was finished the next day with a second batch of cement. The first batch cured fine and has been okay for us. The second batch has been terrible chipping peeling and now looks awful and will need to get replaced. We noticed this within the first year and called to see if there was some remediation possible. We were treated very rudely and after many phone calls they came out and sanded down and surface treated the front walk. The front walk is now worse than ever! I called again recently to inquire about repairing however Fortis does not do any patching or piecework. Buyer beware. I did not research this company properly. read more

You should be able to give a zero. Our fault for not reading the other reviews and listening to them. Two weeks after having our driveway poured it started pitting everywhere. They came back out and said it looks great! It looked like garbage. Their solution was to keep driving on it and eventually it will all smooth out. So in 10 years our driveway should look good? We had to call the bank to threaten to stop payments for something to actual happen. They came out to fix it and were yelling at my wife. I do not recommend this company to do any of your concrete work. If I could give zero stars I would. I contracted with them to provide a beautiful patio that my 2nd floor deck would be built upon. They did not pour my piers where they were supposed to be and they also shortened my pad. So my 12 by 20 deck that my architect drew plans for ended up being 11 by 18 ish. In addition, the landing pad for my deck stairs is not correct and until that is fixed, I will not have deck stairs. They do not honor their spoken commitments and suggestions to try and make this right. I did my due diligence and research them for quite a while before deciding to give them my business, and regret doing so. This project has been going on for over 2 months and has been incredibly stressful and frustrating for me. Please think twice before doing business with them and if you proceed to do so, you'd better measure your pre pour project every step of the way before they pour concrete. Very disappointed in Fortis Ground Works. I had an asphalt driveway put in last fall. Because they installed the driveway higher than the original driveway, it has created a situation where I now have flooding between my house and the driveway. The area which is flooding is also where my air conditioner is at. I contacted Fortis and it took me over three weeks to get Victor, the foreman to return my calls. He managed to blame everyone for the lack of response and for the job not being done properly. He told me for two weeks someone would come out and look at it and still no one has shown up. I have now had to hire someone to put in a french drain and two catch basins to correct he problem which cost me almost $5000.00. I called Victor again about this issue and he now tells me I will need to talk to the owner Marcello to see what Fortis is willing to do about this problem. I feel like I am just getting the run around. They think I will just give up and forget about this and let it go. They have their money and could care less about the problem they created with the improper install of the driveway. Wish I could give them 0 stars. read more

DO NOT...I repeat DO NOT use this company. It has been horrible since we signed our contract. I wrote a review 2 years ago when we had our driveway done and it was not good. It only gets worse. The poured our driveway almost 3 years ago. The customer service then was terrible (see prior review). After 1.5 years, our driveway started to flake away. I called last January when we noticed it (Jan. 2021), and was told they couldn't take care of it until warmer months (understandable). I had to call and call and call to get them to come out once the weather was warmer. They finally sanded down the top coating, and then just poured another layer on. They never sealed it (as promised) for last winter. Fast forward to February where our driveway literally bubbled up, cracked and now is completely a mess. I've been calling since February to get our driveway fixed. They don't return my calls, I have to keep calling. I text messaged the owner, Marcello, today telling him I want the driveway fixed and not another band-aid like last year. The response I got was all caps with exclamation points. I don't know what to do to get our driveway repaired other than hire a lawyer. DO NOT use them. The only funny thing about this situation is when they did our driveway, the state had done the bottom part of our driveway with a project they were doing on the water pipes. To begin with, they promised times to have work done and weeks would go by that nobody would show up. Then when they did come, they did not complete the job and refused to pick up the phone when calling them. They would not return a phone call either. We had to hire another company and pay more money to finish the project. There are pieces of concrete missing and they refuse to make it right. Biggest mistake in hiring this company. I don't write bad reviews often but I am so disgusted with this company that I will make it my life mission to reach out to as many potential customers as possible. My parents had their driveway, steps, and backyard poured on Sept 2015. There were no issues when we had that done. The problems started a few weeks after. I was told there would be a chance of small hairline cracks in the concrete and that was dependent on the weather. Instead there were deep cracks. I called numerous times and someone finally came out to 'fill in' the cracks. It looks terrible. My neighbor pointed out to me around this time that there was a rust like stain on the side walk between her house and my parent's. I called Fortis again and I have yet to have someone look into this issue. The driveway looked better before than it does now, the sidewalk looks bad, and my parents are out thousands of dollars. What makes this story even more entertaining is that every time I call, I believe I spoke with Barb, I've been told that there is only one guy that does this and his schedule is full. I understand everyone is busy, but when I asked if I could schedule an appointment or something, I was told no. He will call when it's my turn. That is an idiotic way to do business but I said ok and waited. I've called so many times in the last year that I don't even remember. I called again yesterday, Feb 20, and left a message. Someone called back today, left a voice mail, and said that she doesn't have a record of any of my calls. Are you kidding me?! If this doesn't get resolved soon, I'm going to a lawyer. I wish I read these reviews before we hired this company. They did the worse job ever. Our patio and sidewalk are uneven, crooked and the lines are sloppy. There are areas in the sidewalk that have small holes and the worse is that the owners are rude! Of course they never came to see what we were complaining about and I would never recommend this company to anyone. If there was a - star, that's what I would have given them. I will give any business who uses the sleazy method of door-to-door solicitation a one-star review. I don't want strange men coming up on my porch. I don't want this invasion of privacy. And I don't want to do business with a company who is too cheap to advertise respectfully. I have a "no soliciting" sign which was ignored and a gate. It's obvious I don't want strangers in my yard. I ask this solicitor, albeit politely, to leave. So upon my closing the door, this man walks around to the side of my house and sticks the flyer in the siding of my house. It's a gross violation of private property. Companies who use this method don't know who they're sending out there and obviously don't train them to respect those who have "no soliciting" signs. It's a low-rent method of advertising, so I would guess that the companies who do this don't operate respectfully or in good taste. read more

I contracted Fortis to pour my driveway, patio, and front steps. The crews that were sent for demolition, for pouring, and for stamping were absolutely amazing. Helpful, responsive, Fortis' management made sure I was completely satisfied with the job their crews did. When I voiced concerns over the pitch of the driveway and rain possibly pooling by the house and garage, they pitched the driveway in such a way that any water will drain off in different directions. The worst communication from any company I have ever experienced. We had them come out in the summer to do measurements and did not hear back from them for 2 months. The guy who came out to do the proposal switch departments so apparently our stuff just sat there. We had to reach back out and follow up. Measurement's ended up being off when they came out a few days before the project was to start. We had to pay to get the permit fixed with the county since we did not want to get in trouble. Every step of the way was an argument and one of the owners literally went off on my husband for calling them asking when they would be coming to do the work. They should up at 8am, did a walk through with my husband, and said they would be back after lunch. He took the day off so he reached out in the afternoon so he could get an idea of when they would be back. All we were asking for was communication and for them to do their job correctly. They cancelled on us the day of and now we are out money for the application fees and permits. Owner literally laughed at my husband. I can not believe people act this way. read more

I had fortis out for an estimate on a concrete driveway, salesperson showed up late. I gave her a print to make the estimating process easier and all this seemed to do was confuse everyone involved. I was promised a quote the next day, didn't hear from them. I called and they stated they were trying to figure the quote and would get back to me on a Monday at the latest. They forgot to put on the border even though we had specifically chosen one. They apologized and sent me a letter saying they would redo it in May. May came and nothing. 01.20.2020 - Since I started the process of getting the drainage issues fixed on my driveway ONE year ago, I have contacted / spoke/ texted with Marcello and Andro many, many times. I finally gave up in October, after 10 months of their run around. They have even been out to look at our driveway many times. At which time, they said and we agreed that the driveway was pitched incorrectly, which makes the water just sit and NOT drain off properly. They offered several solutions to the fix. However, they NEVER did anything about it. They won't even answer mine or my husband's messages. They are alot of talk but nothing ever got done about it. Many chances were given to them by us, but we are very frustrated with our driveway. It is literally an ice-skating pond at the top of our driveway. One fix that Marcello did suggest to us, was to salt the driveway -- that would solve our problem. But it doesn't solve it, it won't be solved until springs come around. Do your homework, they are not reliable. We would still like to have this fixed. It is a safety issue. 01.2019 - We had our drive way done about a little over a year ago. Everything was great until the winter came when we noticed the drive way was not pitched the right way. The top of our drive is an ice skating pond. The water does not drain correctly off of the top of the drive way which causes it to puddle and then freeze right by our back entry gate. It very disappointed that this happens every time it freezes. We can't use our back gate in the winter for fear of falling on the ice the has accumulated. read more

I would never use this company again!! We had our driveway and patio done by Fortis. They poured July 10th. There were some cracks and some mistakes on the driveway that they said they would fix. We waited two weeks and no one came out to fix a thing even with multiple phone calls. Then our patio cracked from one side to the next. Another person came and made excuses that it should have been cut different, it should not have been stamped this way, etc etc. Again, not our problem - someone should have communicated that we couldn't stamp a certain way before completing the project. They have our money now so we are not a priority. We continue to wait to get these things fixed and we continue to get the blow off. Not one thing has been resolved and this all happened within two weeks of pouring! So frustrated and disappointed!! read more

I hope no one has to go through what we went trough with this company We hired them for a driveway, side walk, and patio. It took 2 months, my husband had to call them all the time to ask when were they coming, once they took all the wood out they piled it in front of our house, once again my husband had to call them to come take the wood away. My patio there is standing water due to a bad pitch. The sidewalk is lower than my grass so the mud just sits on my sidewalk, the driveway was never finished, many calls to fortis to come finish and they do not answer their phone , worst experience ever. Worst company ever. The owners are good talkers until they get the job and then you don't see them for months. Besides the fact that they left our property a mess with empty water bottles, wet t-shirts, i had to fire them cause they dug up a massive hole on my drive-way and 2 weeks later i had a party scheduled and needed the driveway, i was lucky that another company was available to come finish the driveway for us especially for the party i was having 4 days later.
