brought in friends from out of town to try to support a small business. We ordered cocktails, appetizers, meals...we had over $100 for our table. My cheeseburger was inedible. I asked the waitress if I could please switch it out for wings. She agreed. When the bill came she charged for the burger...which she threw away...AND the wings. And refused to comp the inedible burger. Then gave my friends and I attitude. My friends asked why I would even recommend a place with such horrible customer service. Needless to say I will not ever go back, nor will I recommend Forts to any of my friends and clients when they come to town. We will gladly support other local businesses. The prices have gone up, just like everywhere else.The difference is they serve chips with their burgers! I don't mind spending a little more for your delicious burgers, but it's unanmerican not to serve fries with a burger. My wife loves fries so we asked for a large order on several occasions. We love living so close to Fort's. It is a great place to hang with friends, have some drinks and great food, and play pool. We had a large party for my birthday, but they were very accommodating when we were trying to get a table. The long table for bigger parties was being used, but they made sure that we would get it as soon as it was available. The food and drinks are always delicious. Four of us stopped here while on our search for the best wings in Lorain. This is a typical Lorain County bar which means a narrow building with the bar on one side and tables on the other. This place is a little bigger than others. Our server was excellent and we ordered the special wings for the King of Wings contest. I am not a fan of pesto, so the pesto wings were not something I cared about. The garlic lime wings were decent. The wings here were very meaty. What an awesome surprise located in downtown Wellington. I did not expect it to be so charming and rustic. Super clean, ample seating. Bar selection of craft beers was unexpected. The staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable about the history, menu and drinks. We only ordered the sauerkraut balls, they didn't disappoint. Perfectly fried, not greasy and no oily flavor. Portion size was definitely enough to share. Can't wait to come back and order a few of the entrees. What we did see come out of the kitchen looked and smelled wonderful! I came here for the King of Wings event put on by Lorain County Visitors Center. Out of the five restaurants I visited this place got my vote for the best wings! Atmosphere is laid-back pub and when you first walk in your eyes will need to adjust to the dim cave lighting. I stopped in on an afternoon so the place was pretty chill with friendly service. I started with a Milk Punch $6 which is basically cereal milk with some alcohol in it. Not bad, but would not get again. More of a gimmicky drink you try once. I was there for wings but I also wanted to check out one of their other menu offerings (I mean, might as well while I'm there!). They have a lot of processed fried foods, but the daily soup is housemade so I went with that. It was a big bowl of tomato gouda bisque $4.59. Was served lukewarm, but good flavor. For wings I went with their special peppercorn pesto $7 (note that this comes with carrots/celery and store bought ranch). I could only eat two but they were so good! I ate the rest the next day and they were still tasty. I hope they keep these on the menu after the wing competition ends. Fort's is definitely an out of the way place for me to visit, and I wish they had more housemade items, but I am glad I made the stop! read more

I stopped in for a quick meal with an old friend and was sorry that I hadn't drove past and on to a different place. First of all - it's a bar that serves food. Which, in itself is not a bad thing. However, the food was not good. I ordered a "ribeye sandwich" - which comes with grilled onions & mushrooms and chips. I chose mashed potatoes instead of chips and was glad I did - after I started eating. The ribeye was horrible - very fatty and stringy, and seemed like it was cooked in an oven of some sort. There were no grill marks, or even indication that it was cooked on a griddle. It was just "blaaa" and had zero likability. I only ate about 3 bites - trying to like it. I actually pushed my grilled onions & mushrooms over to my mashed potatoes and ate them together. That combo was not too bad - not great - but not too bad. My friend ordered the same, but also ordered deep fried pickles. She felt the same as I did, about her ribeye sandwich, and we both agreed that the best tasting item we ordered was the deep fried pickles. After reading some of the other reviews, I'm thinking we should have ordered wings... Our waitress was very nice and took great care of us, so I don't fault her for my review. Bottom line is, if you're looking for a bar hang-out type of environment - you'll find it here. I came here with my sister and Nephew for lunch. It is a bar restaurant that has been here for many years. So whenever I come to town to visit I try to go here at least once. I was really surprised that I had not yet yelped it. First off, it is a bar yes. But, also a really good place to eat. The prices are wonderfully reasonable. The food is delish! I got the fried Fish Dinner, only $7.99. The wings are so good. It is making me hungry just writing this and thinking about it. All of our food was great. The one thing is it could use a good cleaning. Plus our waitress was a bit slow with refills on the drinks ,we had to ask 2 times. But, not such a big deal. Very good for fresh Lake Erie fish on weekends, both perch and walleye. Walleye dinner isn't cheap, but very generous portions. Steak fries also recommended. Good homemade soups, especially clam chowder. Weekday specials (meatloaf, pot roast, roasted chicken, etc.) are also great comfort food in generous portions. Last Summer there was a county-wide contest for best chicken wings. I tried five of the places and Fort's was better than any--including the official winner. They're meaty and delicious. Went there last night, what a disappointment. I had the special Friday fish fry my food came out like warm. My wife had the prime rib, it was so tough and had so much gristle in it that she didn't eat it. Took it home too the dog he loved it. Super cozy bar. I didn't eat while I was here, but I came in for some live music and drinks. The bartenders were very friendly. They got us our drinks and waters. Everyone was just laughing with friends and playing pool. The singer started playing Bon Jovi and everyone sang along. Now I have been here since I was a kid and although I miss when it was a smaller place I have to say they have maintained the friendly down home atmosphere. The food fills you up and the prices don't break your bank. My family has made this a go to spot when we go back to town. This is a great little dive bar in the heart of uptown Wellington. The building's original architecture being utilized for the interior decor gives the place an old-school and cozy feel. We came into the bar. They yelled at us for standing when the only open tables were dirty. So we sat at a half clean table with dishes at the end and crumbs everywhere when I asked for a towel to clean it myself she said that she was busy and that she will get it when she's not working so we will just have to wait . It took the 1 of 3 bartenders to come ask us our order after 15 minutes. She forgot one drink of the 3 we ordered. Then after trying to pay our tab it took her 15 minutes to do so. When first asking she goes "I'm working here, you're gonna have to wait." There was maybe 12 people in the whole place and they were already served. It was disgusting and ridiculous especially with them not cleaning and all this sickness going around. Probably Will never go back again. Worse first experience there. I have a prediction. As soon as there are options Forts will close. We waited 10-15 minutes to get acknowledged, let alone, served. Burger was dry. The mushrooms were like deep fried rubber. Drink was strong but had a hair in it. The lone waitress was taking care of a table of ten. A new girl clocked in and decided to stock the ketchup instead of seeing if we wanted a drink or to order. This place is great! My family and I always enjoy the great food and atmosphere. If you're looking for a local spot where all are friendly and laid back, this is your spot. Was seated, took about 45 minutes to get refill on our Pepsi with a lemon in it?which we didnt ask for. Our food finally arrived an hour and a half into the ordeal. Our portions were very small. Fries spread out to look like a decent portion. Girlfriends vegetable's had stickers on it still. My friends sandwich came out with no fries and was told they were coming. Ask to speak to the manager, was told maybe I should go eat pizza down the Street.( By the owner) Female manager smelled of booze and was slumped over us and telling us loudly why we should just chill. We were also offered some alcohol to just eat and leave it alone. Never the less there was words by both parties. We just wanted to eat. Out of 4 of us 1 got to eat a sandwich and half of some biscuits and gravy. After all this the waitress said the owner would give us 50 percent off. The waitress was almost in tears and said she would pic up the tab. We refused to let her eat the tab. So the manager comes back over and slams the bill down on our table and says I got this.
