Great neighborhood bar feel with really good food and friendly bartenders. I had a burger, 1/2 lb done perfectly with onion rings that were excellent. Last time the onion rings were a little oily, yesterday they were perfect. Our adult daughter just had fried pickles, she said they were great. Perfect batter to pickle ratio and they were spears not rounds which made them great for dipping. Wife had a lake erie perch sandwich, she said it was amazingly good. Busy place, but the kitchen was kerping up about 7:30 on a Friday night. I highly recommend Rudy's especially if your in from out of town. read more

Located in the very lovely town of Vermilion. They have your normal bar selection for drinks. Menu has a variety of options. Started off the chili and after it arrived I realized there was a chalkboard w daily specials and they had a shrimp bisque I definitely would've gotten but the chili was great. I would not recommend this place as a family dinner out. The loud environment is unpleasant. This place was understaffed, and had an insufficient kitchen, resulting in a hour wait for our food. The customer service was awful. We had asked multiple times for an estimated time on the food wait and the waiters couldn't deliver. The food was acceptable. Four of us walked in on a beautiful Friday night and expected a long wait as it was very busy. Our server noticed us immediately upon our arrival and offered a small high top if we could wait a bit. She immediately cleared and cleaned and had us seated within 5 minutes. Food was great. A couple of fish dinners, wings, and a breakfast burger. All the food was good, and we even ordered wings to go. Had enough varied beers, sours, and ciders that everyone was satisfied. Prices were low for a tourist spot. The bathrooms were 5 stars. It is definitely a "locals" hangout, it always seems like most of the customers and employees know each other, but even though we are not regulars, we have never not felt welcome! It is a warm and inviting atmosphere. You can sit at the bar, high top tables, regular tables, or on the patio out back. I really like the wings here. They are thick, meaty, and have a wide variety of sauces. Personally, I like the dry rub. It's not a huge menu, and it's typical bar food, but it always tastes fresh. They also have some seafood entrées mixed in, appropriate because of the proximity to Lake Erie. I would not recommend a cheese quesadilla. It was a strange cheese/salsa/vegetable mix, not what I was expecting. Rudy's is a great place to grab a quick bite, meet up with friends, or watch a game. Used to love the burgers here but had to come in to say that the bun on my burger today was about as bad as a burger bun could be. They used to throw them on the grill for a second, which would've helped this quasi brioche bun a ton. When I return, I'll ask if they're still using this bun. The food is good here. Not great....but good. The mix between purveyors frozen and the burgers......well....it it what it is. What we like is good service. To have a server say, "Get used to it" didn't fly with us. Only two employees for an entire full restaurant when they knew they would be busy means " greedy." We asked for more drinks. The wings were piping hot, crispy and had a really nice buffalo flavor with good "heat". Wings were served with a tangy blue cheese dressing for dipping. For our meals, we all had burgers. My wife and I did our usual half-and-half plate share...she ordered the truffle burger and I had the sirano burger. Both were made of good quality meat and were cooked to a perfect medium temperature. The sirano (with all its spicy goodness) was the better of the two...lots of flavor! Rudy's fries were crispy and delicious. Wash it all down with a few cold beers from their tap (a reasonable selection for a small place) and you have a rock solid meal right there. read more
