I went in here to check the place out. The decor and art work is cool AF. I have a tattoo on my foot that was hit with a laser at a place that I will equate to Voldemort... it shall NOT be named...because I was literally yelled at/cussed out for trying to help an artist who worked their gain business. I was looking for a tattoo shop in San Antonio that I could (essentially) do a walk-in. I messaged the owner, Robert, and another one of the tattoo artists there through Instagram and both responded in a timely manner. What I wanted was small and quick, but I was in the market for someone with a really steady hand and clean lines. Robert assured me that if he couldn't do it, one of the other artists could take care of me. When I arrived, Robert was setting up for a huge back piece and told me if the guy was a no-show, he'd gladly do it (and made small talk with me, which I appreciated). The guy showed up but there were still two other tattoo artists there. ----- Crystal ended up taking me. I had an idea of what I wanted the font to look like, but I told her she had creative control over it--I just wanted it to match the anchor/nautical theme. She was very patient and accommodating! When she first drew it, it was a bit large, and so I told her what size I wanted it. She told me that she would make it as small as possible, but if she went as small as I was requesting, it wouldn't be legible over the years. I was really appreciative of her knowledge about that, and her stopping me from making that mistake! ----- All in all, I am so happy with the way it came out, and I would highly, HIGHLY recommend this shop! read more

I'll start by saying I did ALOT of research and looked at a lot of different artist's portfolios before scoping out this place. I also had two sketches drawn up from artists that I wasn't a fan of (just didn't see eye to eye). I couldn't be happier with the work Weston Ryan did. I walked in on a Saturday evening and Weston struck up a conversation, showed me some of his work and we set an appointment for that coming Wednesday. He was great about communicating before the appointment , answering any questions I had. When I got there for the appt he was drawing it up ... when he was finished I liked what I saw which was the first since meeting with the 2 artists before him. We discussed sizing and placement, I wanted it a bit higher on my hip and smaller but he advised it may not look as good. I trusted his judgement. The piece took 4 hours total with about 3.21 breaks. He made sure I was comfortable throughout the process. I wanted a vibrant and colorful seahorse with clean lines and he not only nailed it but made it bigger and more beautiful than I imagined. As you can see from my last review, the staff is can be very rude. I was told by an employee of this shop that a minor could be tattooed in Texas with parental consent. Once in the store, a different tattoo artist told us otherwise and I simply replied "really?" In the moment since we had been told otherwise. This seems to be "questioning the intelligence" of a tattoo artist when it was a simple question. I would have to receive the same treatment during an actual session. I have been tattooed in 5 different countries and I've never had such an unfriendly staff encounter. read more

I called Fortune Bros when I arrived in San Antonio (from Chicago--was visiting SA to find an apartment for my upcoming move there) to see if they had any availability that same day. Robert, the owner, informed me that he had an appointment coming in soon, but that if I wanted to stop by right then to discuss what I wanted, we might be able to set something up for later in the early evening. Robert and I discussed my idea and when his appointment did not show up, he started the work on mine. We discovered that we were both from Chicago suburbs and got to talking away about ourselves and our experiences with Chicago and San Antonio. He was so personable AND professional. Not only did I get a great tattoo but Robert told me about an AMAZING Chicago-style restaurant a couple blocks away, which he offered to show me since it was about dinner time and he needed to grab food for his employees (another great sign about this business/business owner). A group of us stopped by as walk-ins based on good reviews but at the time the tattoo I wanted was going to require an appointment. Robert, the owner of the shop, took down my information. I described what I wanted which he noted. He sketched out the area I was going to have it applied to. He did take a deposit, paid via CC, which he later said he does this if he wants to ensure that the client wants to go through with it. He said when he doesn't take a deposit they tend to be no-shows. I showed up a month later for the appointment. He blocked off 5 hours as it was going to take all evening to get it done. He showed me the sketch which I was amazed that he got it nearly right. The sketch looked a bit simplistic at first as I wanted a fairly detailed tattoo. He filled in the details during the tattoo session which came out almost exactly what I had envisioned it to look like. Robert was easy to talk with and made me feel relaxed as this was my biggest tattoo to date. The pain was never overwhelming. The place itself was clean as I was never worried about the hygienics of the place. After we were done he put on an application then explained in thorough detail on what to do for aftercare. He even threw in a bottle of cream. Upon following his instructions I didn't have any issues and nearly 2 weeks later it is now a beautiful piece of tattoo work. This is the place to go if you're in the area for a tattoo. Don't go cheap. Pay the $75-85/hr and go with these guys. Robert will take care of you. read more

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because I had an appointment and my artist started my tattoo about 2 hours after my initial appointment.
