This place is not my cup of tea. It's probably not the business's fault, but rather the customers on that particular day: it was POOL NIGHT. I didn't know. No clue. I got there, grabbed a beer, and sat down to wait for a friend who was meeting me. About 1/3 of the way into my beer, some lady rolls up to my table and tells me "this table is needed". I ask why, and she says "it's POOL NIGHT". Ok, what does that have to do with me? I told her, let me finish this beer and I'll move when I get another... within minutes, dozens of people come in all carrying pool sticks, and the place is suddenly PACKED. "Oh", I think. My buddy shows up, and we move to another table as far from the pool area as possible. We're hanging out, chatting, and it keeps getting busier and busier. Eventually, another person comes up to our table and asks us to move because it's "POOL NIGHT". Jesus Christ! Can a normal, non pool playing customer just hang out and have drink here without being harrassed?? We moved again, and after we finished our drinks, we left. A few weeks later we were chatting, and he said "we're never going there again", to which I agreed. This place just isn't for me, since I don't give a crap about pool. They do have large beers here (20 or 32 oz'ers? Definitely bigger than a pint), so that's why I give 'em 2 stars. read more

The best part about fortune Star is the the karaoke! Who doesn't love to get tipsy and sing like no ones watching. It does start later depending if there's a pool tournament going on. All the ladies that barrens that bartend there are amazing, the man can be hit or miss. Sometimes he's nice, sometimes he's in a bad mood. The food isn't so bad and their pours are heavy. This place was really great until the DJ Chris came in at 10. Horribly loud base and during a medical emergency he wouldn't turn the music down so my husband could hear the 911 dispatchers. He actually requested everyone to stop calling 911 and let the staff handle it. No body on staff appeared to be on the phone. The DJ was rude and didn't seem concerned about the person who was seizing. The KJ was kinda a creeper as well. Nice guy but he was grinding on women half his age and kissing them. Not very professional. Bartenders were nice but sadly that can't save this spot! read more

Came here on advice of another restaurant. I was looking for late night food. They serve here until 230am. For being a Chinese food place, it feels like a western bar. No real identity. Walked in and was not greeted by anyone, there were no servers. I sat at a booth. No one came up. I had to do find my own food menu. Also at the table was a sign saying the kitchen was closed. I walked up to the only bartender and asked if the kitchen was closed, he shook his head...didnt ever say anything (I thought it was kinda rude). So I went back to my table looked through the menu, and had to go back up to the bar to order. He charged me up front for the food (and tip) before I even got anything. I had to come back up to order waters and drinks. The food actually took quite a while, while we had to listen to extremely loud karaoke. The cook dropped of our food, we had no silverware, or extra plates nothing. The food was good....but that was about the only thing. I likely won't come back. Giving 3 star because of food, and late night. read more

Facility - Nothing special but not bad, lots of pool tables that are in good shape. Staff - Security and bartenders seemed friendly and professional. There was an older gentleman running Karaoke before the DJ got there. Quite the creeper. I watched him "grind" and "kiss" a girl that was easily 30 years younger. Not sure if he was just an employee or the owner. He seemed more concerned with females and how closely people had their beers to a pool table than he was about ensuring the customers were enjoying themselves. DJ - Terrible. Not as a DJ, as a person. DJ Switch or something I believe. A gentleman that apparently doesn't realize his reputation is easily exposed on sites like these. Music and karaoke abilities were fine but attitude was something worth writing about. Apparently he was recently hired to DJ for the roller derby team in Portland. He's a bit cocky but that's besides the point, I'm not hear to attack a person's personality, but their professionalism? Definitley! There was a medical emergency at the bar tonight, a man went down and appeared to be seizing. The DJ repeatedly asked people not to call 911 because the staff was supposedly already on the phone with them but as time elapsed no one actually seemed to be on a phone AND near the injured individual to where it seemed like someone was actually assisting. I did see a gentleman (thankfully) ignore the DJ's advice and call 911 to facilitate any instructions to those that were helping the injured man. The challenge was that the DJ refused to turn the music down, so the person on the phone seemed to face challenges in hearing the 911 dispatcher. A friend of his, said something to the DJ. I didn't hear what she said but the DJ's response was loud, vulgar and unprofessional. For all I know, the woman was saying something off putting to the DJ, but does it matter? When you are being paid to do a job, should it be permissible, in any circumstance, to swear at a paying customer? I did end up overhearing one of the woman's comments of "it's just a man's life, must be no big deal". Sarcastic? Sure, but the DJ's response was to call security over and tell them to "get her the (explative) out". Shocking and concerning to say the least. Really poor form on this guy's part. He clearly doesn't have the ability to conduct himself. I'd go back to this place again if I found out that they severed ties with the DJ...until then...I will proactively dissuade anyone from spending their money there. If I found out that corrective action was taken, I will happily give this place another chance and update my review but I can't justify anything higher at this point. The reality is, you have to own the responsibility for any person operating in your place of business and this was definitely a bad experience. read more

Place is great, I used to go here when it was just an old billiard hall before they served booz. I would recommnd it to anyone. Gets a little loud late at night making it hard to focus on playing but that's not to bad for being a bar. read more

Always a great time, the bartenders are AMAZING (Nancy/Ryan/Mark)! Now some of the door guys are douche-bags, but you only have to deal with them at the entrances, THANK GOD! Food is decent, karaoke is fun, the pool tables take priority which is kind of annoying seeing as though it's suppose to be a karaoke bar! The DJ - the OLDER guy that works and plays pool- (not the one that starts to play at 10 pm on the weekends) is a CREEP and wont play anything you request if you refuse to hug on him. GROSS. Also be prepared to be treated like crap if you order food and they have to ACTUALLY work. UGH, this place has seen better days and since the price increase on everything, I think i'm over it. Went in on Sat Oct 15th mid-day during college football to meet a buddy and watch some games, drink some beers, eat something. There were a few hispanics at the bar (no offense to them), and a female Hispanic bartender. They were watching tennis on the TVs at the bar and soccer and other random things on the other 6 or so TVs. The bartender didn't care to change anything to college football and said maybe after she got out a few drinks she would come out to change one TV. There were only 10 people in the entire place so I'm not sure how busy she could have been to not go change a TV for us. This place sucks, it's a waste of time, and I won't be back. The bartender has no idea how to run a bar. This is America where football reigns not tennis and soccer. This is a reflection of how poorly the place is managed. I will try this place again once it goes out of business and opens up as something else. read more
