My friends and I found ourselves with an hour and a half to spare between breakfast and a movie on Christmas day, so we ducked into this neighborhood lounge to open gifts and get a few hot drinks. The building is gloriously outdated, but seems to be well-maintained. The bench seating in the booths was comfortable, and the tables and surfaces were clean. As we were visiting on a holiday I wasn't expecting exceptional service, but even though one of the waiters was a no-show, the lone employee waiting all of the tables and booths was a trooper! I was really impressed he was able to keep his cool and manage all of his responsibilities with ease. We didn't have to wait too long for our order, and he made sure to check in on us several times during our visit. We happily left a hefty "Merry Christmas" tip for all his hard work. Tik Tok is located on a VERY busy intersection, so be very careful when exiting the parking lot. I've seen lots of accidents on this corner over the years. I can imagine things get squirrelly from time to time in this 24-hour diner located in a rough neighborhood, but at 11 AM on a holiday we had a delightful experience.

Whelan's was one of the ones that came up, and i decided to go there; since, it's half way home. We got there around 11:00 pm. It wasn't busy, but the atmosphere was enjoyable. There was a group of people who just left a Christmas party, so Melanie T had fun with them. I tried one of the Irish beers on tap that was excellent. It tasted great, and wasn't very high in alcohol, so it did not put you to sleep. The bar tender told us about their Shepard's Pie, but the kitchen was closed (except for bar food).
