    The pretzel of unusual size.
    Mason B.

Stopped in here our first night in Buffalo and we were thrilled. This is a great, slightly dive-y but in a good way, neighborhood bar and restaurant. We decided to start with an order of the classic Buffalo wings and the giant pretzel. The wings were amazing and the pretzel was the single largest soft pretzel I have ever seen. We probably should have stopped there, but we underestimated the pretzel and hot entrees too. The stack burger was classic, juicy and loaded and the seasonal corned beef and cabbage dinner was delicious. The service was great and the beer was cold and crisp. If you want a great intro to Buffalo, amazing wings, and a chill vibe, swing over to Elmwood and try this place out.

Stopped here while taking a small wing tour in Buffalo and the group was thrilled. We got the beef on weck wings and the 40 sauce. The Forty thieves sauce was AMAZING! I'd drink that by the gallon. Server was great. She smiled, brought water, and checked in a few times. This place.may become an annual stop on the tour!

Small but cool place on Elmwood in Buffalo. I was impressed by the pretzel so that's definitely a must have if you stop in! The Reuben was also really good and piled high with corned beef. The thick cut rye was also a nice touch! Seating is a bit of a struggle because the place is so small but if you don't mind sitting by the bar and ordering your own food you can sit down quicker.

It's a cool place but small! The wait is long for a table so we sat in the bar area that is first come first served and you have to share the table with other people but it worked out fine. There is also no servers so you have to go to the bar to order drinks and food. There was a lot of people there for the hockey game so it was busy and loud so be prepared for that. The food was really good and portion sizes are huge. It's been on my list for a long time so I'm glad I finally had the chance to check it out.

Atmosphere was amazing. Our table overlooked the bar! Service was fantastic! Cecilia was amazing, very attentive and very helpful on the menu. Ordered wings hot and are ranked in my opinion top 3 in Buffalo! Just behind Kelly's Korner and Nine Eleven. Wings were crispy but still juicy. Blue cheese was very good. Slightly chunky. Also ordered wings with forty sauce which were just as good. Loved the sauce. And we ordered the poutine which was one of the best poutines! Highly recommend this place and we will be coming back again.

    PBJ burger and fries

Unfortunately they were down to one chef when we went, but that didn't impact our service much except that the menu was reduced to burgers, salads and soups. Got the PBJ burger and fries. The flavor of the PBJ burger was absolutely what you'd expect, sweet and savory and satiating. The fries were a little than shoestring, and fried to perfection. My friends all ordered wings of various flavors and they were a good size and fried the way a Buffalo chicken wing should be. The waitress was very attentive and funny. My only complaint was that the room was pretty loud so it was difficult to have a conversation. Not much you can do about that I imagine.

We came for wings only, we got their forty sauce and Cajun southie gold which had quite a kick to them. Love that they came with a respectable amount of carrots and celery, they're outdoor covered seating is great

Great place to visit if you want some great chicken wings. We went to pregame for the hockey game. Warm welcoming and seated quickly. Nice crowd when we were there but the service was very fast and friendly. We ordered some great eats. To begin we had some yummy soups to begin while we waited for our wings. We had the Chorizo corn chowder and the Fresh Onion. So good. The French fries came out piping hot and the portion was huge. The wings were perfect. We ordered the Cajun BBQ and the medium hot. The beverage selection has something for everyone. Come check this place out:)

My burger looked like it was bitten out of on the bottom, even though I assume it was an accidental rip. It was not the best vibe. I probably won't be back due to this incident, after having been here numerous times over the years with mixed experiences.

Sat in the sunshine on the patio on a lovely fall day. Really enjoyed my turkey, cranberry, brie club sandwich - the bread was AWESOME. The guy serving didn't introduce himself, didn't seem too concerned with whether or not we needed anything, or even getting payment, but I guess that's what happens when you show up around 2 for a late lunch. I've been following Forty Thieves on IG for years, so I'm glad to have finally made it here for a bite.

Undercooked burgers, greasy fries, tiny yet expensive beers, and servers with bad attitudes. I won't be back.

Good food, good service. However, the Sunday brunch crowd has a lot of dudes in skinny jeans.

The epitome of why Buffalo is called city of good neighbors. We had so much fun sitting at the bar…read moreand loved Patrick/Sponge who was behind the bar serving drinks and on the grill. He made the day! It's a tavern. Youre getting paper towels as napkins and tight seating. And you'll love it. We split the french onion and the fish fry. Im not usually one for fish fry sides. But damn--they were good. Both the Mac salad and the potatoes were excellent (and I dont love mayo) and very dill forward. Fish fry. Our new favorite. Maybe favorite stateside, not just wny. But definitely favorite in WNY. Crispy. Perfectly cooked fish. Not fishy. Huge. We split it. French onion: so much cheese! I ain't complaining. Good broth. Melting onions. Croutons that are not totally mush. Would do over, over and over

Totally average fish fry with interestingly seasoned coleslaw, Mac salad and potato salad…read more Breading was crispy but dark and almost burned, leaving the fish flavorless. My suggestion is to call ahead for pick up as seating is as claustrophobic as the parking lot. It took me almost an hour from seating and beverages to having food in front of me. Also, set up a group text with your party as it's too loud to hear a person next to you talk. TLDR food was passable ambiance is what you'd expect from a neighborhood bar with a small kitchen. Takeout is a must with this place. Note, the steak I smelled cooking smelled divine. I should have ordered that.
