But instead we were turned away at the gate because the ENTIRE park was closed for a concert. The attendant was none too polite about it either. "Oh, you can just come back tomorrow"... well, we can't. And probably neither can the cars behind us from Tennessee and Kansas. This is a big new event, and we had no notice about the closure. Really bundled this one. I have no interest in ever coming to this park.

This is a fantastic park with a fantastic playground! This park has lots of grassy areas, nicely…read morepaved trails for biking or walking. There's a woodsy area with some worn trails, most likely for biking. There's a wooden lift bridge that crosses the river to Fargo. The playground is HUGE with something for every age group. There are interesting structures that I haven't seen at other playgrounds, and it's great imagination fuel for the kiddos. I also love that this playground is more accessible - there are structures for those in wheelchairs or limited mobility. The pathways through the park are also wheelchair accessible. I think the accessibility of the structures depends on individual needs. Extra bonus - lots of FREE parking.

We went on an evening cruise and decided to try and explore a little bit, and ended up at Lions Conservancy Park, which is only a mile or two from our neighborhood. What I didn't realize about this park, though, is that they have some amazing mountain biking paths. It was so much fun! Lions Conservancy backs up to the Red River, and the bike path goes right along the river so it's hilly and woody and so cool. There's another path on the other side of the river in nearby Iwen park. The path is also super user friendly. At the beginning there's a map of it, and even a QR code you can scan to access the map electronically, and boy is it helpful. There's also constant markers on the path so you know you're still going the right way. For those who are more seasoned with mountain biking (ie: not me), there's some built in jumps and fun challenges. I stayed way clear of those, because just trying to make it along the path was plenty enough for me. It's about a mile total and it really gets you sweating. So besides the beautiful paths, there's really not a lot more to Lions Conservancy. You can sort of see the river from the parking lot. You can't walk far without being swarmed by bugs and other. But what a beautiful and delightful little path! Certainly not for the faint of heart but all the better when you complete it!

We are on a quest to visit every state park in MN and enjoyed this one. We did the prairie view…read moretrail which takes you on a three mile loop around the river. The untouched prairie provided lots of colorful flowers and other greenery. We enjoyed using our Merlin app to listen and identify all the many birds in the area. The lookout point to see the winding river from above was a nice shady sidetrack. Bugs weren't much of an issue but being a prairie, there was a significant amount of the trail in the sun. Wear a hat. We stopped in the ranger office to see if they had postcards (alas, no) but the staff was super helpful and they had maps if you need them. Great stop!

It's peaceful, quiet, and lovely. I wish I spent more time here to actually explore the park. Came here at the end of September and it was lovely.

We did the Annie Battle Lake hike which had about half of it in a paved path that you share with…read morebikes. We tried to do the Lake Emma Trail loop as well but the bugs completely overwhelmed us and we turned back. The path follows the lake but most of it is in the woods and the lake is not viewable. In the south side there are some nice lookout points. The park has a great rental shop. I wish we would have had more time to take a bike ride or rent a kayak. Lots of park/water toys to choose from.

This relatively new state park in Minnesota is a treasure -- a beautiful example of Minnesota lake…read morecountry with rolling hills, forests, creeks, trails and camping. I hiked a few miles towards the end of the day and saw an eagle swoop down to grab a fish out of the lake. I shot photos of birds that I had not seen before and a young buck hiding in the birch forest. A variety of wild flowers were in bloom. Be warned that you need to apply insect repellent since ticks abound. There are both paved and unpaved path, and it is obvious that the park was well-planned. There is even a cemetery for pets. It's a must visit if you are in the area.
