My whole family was with Forward Dental for more than 14 years. Initially, we were very satisfied with the dental service, despite the fact that dentists were constantly changing. The one we are seeing now, Dr. Michael Ruen, has our trust. All dental work that he did was of high quality. If there was a possibility to review him separately, I will give him five (5) stars. The following review is related to ForwardDental payment policies and customer treatment, mostly by their manager. Since recent, after the ownership changed, Forward Dental started overcharging patients for every service. Without my knowledge, those overcharges accumulated to over $400 during 2024. I managed to get the reimbursement after hours spent in calls and unplanned visits (as others stated, they don't answer calls or it is impossible to do anything over the phone). Despite the significant sum of overcharged money that they kept for some time and finally reimbursed, by the end of the last year, ForwardDental sent me a request for an additional payment. They sent me a "proof" in a form of the printout of services and payments from June to December 2024, conveniently (for them) excluding the payment of $252 that was paid out of pocket on the day of service. I emailed them copies of all payments and requested a new statement confirming that I don't owe them anything. As a matter of fact, I went through all financial transactions with them, through their charges and payments by my insurance or myself, and the final result was that instead of me owing them, actually they owe me $7.92. Three weeks after that email, they still didn't find necessary to address the client's request and send me an answer to my inquiry. It is not comforting to see that other clients had similar problems with unresponsiveness of Forward Dental manager, Kiana Werner. At our first encounter, she gave me her card and told me to send her email whenever I have any problem. I did it two times - once for refund, and now, for false overcharge. She never responded. This is very unprofessional and disrespectful. Because of overcharges, unresponsiveness and disrespectful treatment of customers by their manager, I can't recommend this practice. read more

I actually thought they closed down because they don't answer their phone calls and never returned my vms. I already had a bad initial experience with them taking my son for his first appointment - they scheduled him for a general appointment verses a pediatric and they made me feel like I was in the wrong. I tried to get past that since my insurance has limited options but not answering the phone is unacceptable. read more

I have to complain about dentist Michael Ruehn. This dentist never listened to anything I asked for during my dental visits. For that reason, I left the dental office without the dental partial, that I had been waiting for all summer long. Not only did I leave without the partial, I lost 4,500 of dental benefits to get my teeth fixed because this dentist was not a good dentist nor a good listener. I should have know with a name like Ruehn, he would ruin me. He first presented me with a good partial but when it was time to come and pickup the partial, he comes in with a skimpy version of a partial with aluminum without consulting with me and he knew that I had a loose tooth that could not work with any partial, but he ignorned it completely and never suggested a solution so I could leave as a satisfied customer. Shame on you Dentist Ruehn, you were such a disappointment!!! read more

The new clerk, Patricia, is rude. This Monday, she told me to come 15 minutes early for an appointment but I ended up sitting in the waiting room for 45 min. It was the other clerk who tried to find out what the delay was all about. Patricia just blamed other people instead of taking responsibility. Today I tried to make an appointment for my daughter, a college student home for winter break. There were no appointments available and in the past they ask me if I want to be called in case of cancellation but Patricia just hung up on me. This lady needs etiquette lessons. read more

As other reviewers have stated, these dentists come and go. One issue I have is the overreliance on dental technicians. I have found the dental hygienist Diba Moayed to be extremely rude and ignorant. Actually, I believe this woman is mentally ill. The office manager and the front office experiences are chaotic. Oftentimes, one will not receive a callback. I rate Dr. Razdolsky as satisfactory, but not outstanding in that I think she lacks experience. Finally, I cannot recommend this place. read more

My ex-husband, son and I have been patients at FD in Glendale for almost 15 years. Dentists came and went. Not a big deal. For the most part the doctors and hygienists have been great. That experience changed last year for me. After washing their hands the dentist threw the paper towels on the clean counter along with other trash, clearly intended for someone else to clean up after them. I had never seen such a thing. I gave feedback when I checked out and didn't really want to go back. The dentist also didn't check as thoroughly as their peers in the past. My 1-star is for the office manager and the front office experience. I didn't have my son's insurance card on me on March 29 and it had changed. So, I paid in full. They said if I'd send the copy of the card via email I'd get the refund. I emailed it within 24 hours. And heard nothing. Followed up via call and was told that it'll take them a month to get the money back from the insurance and only then they could refund me the money, IF I'd call again at that time. (Despite their contract, being in-network and technically me owing $0 as I learned later.) I waited a month, tried calling multiple times, could never get through to anyone regarding billing. So, I went in a week ago and was told the manager could only do refunds and she wasn't there, yet but would be there all day a bit later. So, I came back a few minutes after 4 pm and she was gone. I sat there writing an email to her. Nothing, a follow up the next day, still nothing. Then I got a call from the lady scheduling appointments saying I could come in Friday (due to a cancellation) instead of waiting until November. I agreed. Because I don't have insurance anymore and I had been wanting a cleaning for more than 6 months and they had my cash already. Still nothing from the manager. The estimate (I asked) was $113. The cost was $176 and at this point I decided to not go back for my last 5 dollars. They cost me more of my time to get my refund than the refund was and that does not include the energy to not let my frustrations reign free. I liked Dr. Razdolsky, and Diva was good, too as have been all hygienists. My ex-husband called the manager today (he got through) and she told him I was informed that we were all in one account, even though she wasn't there when two of her staff tried to remove his insurance off my account and were wondering why the computer wouldn't accept it. She didn't know, made up what served her. It made me look like I told him something untrue. (Thank G-d we have a good relationship) when she had it wrong. I won't go back, needless to say. I'm disappointed by the experience and lack of responsiveness and respect of the manager. Managers set the tone for those working with them. read more

I chose this Forward Dental because they're in my insurance network and close to work. Both times I visited I didn't have to wait long at all, they had plentiful magazines, and very friendly staff. I was presented with a bill estimate up front before anything was done. My estimate included a fluoride treatment, which wasn't covered by my insurance (but a minimal cost). I decided I wanted my cleaning visit to be free so she crossed that right off and the services I wanted were covered fully. I have an area that's very sensitive to cold that I mentioned to Dr. Ross. I braced myself for the answer I didn't want: gum grafts. Nope! There's a treatment that can be applied to the area and set - kind of like a seal. I came back another time over my lunch break for this and was out of there in 20 minutes. I ate frozen custard tonight for the first time in forever without pain! read more

Conception, my hygienist did an amazing job. After only one cleaning, all of the dark stains I've accumulated from years of coffee and tea are gone. My visit was fully covered by my insurance and she did it all without a whitening treatment (whitening is not covered). She's polite, competent and made my visit feel more like I was at a spa treatment than a dental appointment. read more

I had an appt for the first time today with the hygienist Diba and she was superb. I have come to this office for years and seen Robin and Dr Werwie. Have seen Dr Zhu now 2 times and each time he is polite, talks to me, checks notes and xrays and then puts on gloves to exam my mouth/etc. WITHOUT washing his hands. He also doesn't wash his hands before leaving the room which implys to me that he goes room to room all day this way. Dr Werwie, Robin and Diba did all wash hands. When my insurance changed, I needed to find a new dentist and ended up at Forward Dental. I've given it three tries for routine cleanings over the last year and a half. During my first visit, they insisted on taking their own x-rays instead of using the recent ones from my previous dentist. I was still in the waiting room to overhear a call to my insurance company to ensure that x-rays would be covered...but a couple weeks later I got a very, very expensive bill for full head x-rays. Despite this, I returned, because the location is easy to get to and it was a quick in and out visit. The last two visits however, I was assigned a dental hygienist that truly made my experience uncomfortable. His well intentioned, but misguided approach to conversations as he worked was bordering on inappropriate. I also left both times feeling like one side of my mouth hasn't been fully cleaned. Forward Dental is not terrible, but I am feeling very good about my decision to look for dental care elsewhere! read more

If you don't have dental insurance, stay away. I wish I could give 0 stars for extortion. In 2010, we were using a dental discount program. I phoned this office to ask if they accepted it. They said they did. I scheduled the appt and brought in 5 of the 6 members of my family for cleanings, exams, etc... During the paperwork process, I included all of the relevant info for my discount plan, including the staff taking my card in order to include a photocopy of it in my file. Every indication given was that it would be accepted. Once everyone was done, I was presented with a $1200 bill. Based on my discount program, I expected it to be about $800. I questioned the amount due, but paid the bill. They said they didn't know why it was that way, but they would look into it and issue me a refund for the difference once it was figured out. I left with my bill paid in full. Two weeks later, rather than receiving info about a refund, I was presented with an additional bill for over $200, claiming that what I had paid in full that day was the "insurance rate" and that since I was not insured, I had to pay a higher rate. Needless to say, I was shocked. Not only did they tell me on the phone that they would accept my plan, they copied my card and told me they would work it out! I felt lied to, cheated, and taken advantage of. I spoke with staff and management, and explained the situation, assuming they would acknowledge their own fault in the scenario, and simply remove the additional $200 bill. I approached it all in a very matter-of-fact way. I figured that any sensible manager would see the situation as simply an internal communication error and they would take a corrective course of action. Rather than acknowledgment, they simply dug in deeper. I just got brick walls and stubbornness. Everyone I spoke to said that they did not have the authority to remove the bill. For real? Everyone? Nobody has decision-making authority? I asked to speak with someone at the Forward Dental central office, but they refused to give me any contact info. I was left with no options. Either pay the illegitimate bill or let it go to collections. Eventually, they sent me to collections over their stupid $200. I disputed the charge, and the collector left me alone. That stupid $200 sits on my credit report and will remain there for 7 years. They're not getting a penny of it. It wasn't about the money, it was about the way they were extorting me for it. Since this experience in 2010, I've have told this story to at least a dozen people and will continue to tell it and steer anyone I can away from this business. Been with Forward dental for 3 yrs and everytime I have an encounter with D I end up leaving a msg for the manager to call me back regarding her as well as contacting corporate because the manager have a hard time contacting me back within a reasonable amt of time? On two occassions Forward Dental have apologized about her behavior and yet she is STILL rude and disrespectful. Recently, and this is what drew the straw... I called to make me and my husband a dental appt, she insisted I had a bill from 2014. she told me she could not schedule me an appt and if I didn't call collections she would call them on my behalf. We have insurance and have had insurance since the first time I walked through their door. This is ridiculous, I have a good dentist Dr. Romani and Conception is the best! I really hate to leave but D the bull for Glendale Forward Dental is a wild skunk and all of its definition. read more

I just had to put this in here when I read some other person's good experience with a Forward Dental office. I have had 2 years of bad experiences with Forward Dental Offices. The first was on Port Washington Rd. near Good Hope Rd. They have very bad customer service there and the office was very shabby. Also several of the dentists were not good. I ended up losing a tooth because of the care I received there. I had told them about a problem in one of my teeth and the dentist, who was one of the more senior dentists, completely blew it off like it was a flossing problem. Then when I was still having the problem two months later.....he told me that it was probably a crack in the tooth, under the crown and that I would need a dental implant to the tune of $6000.00. I finally went back to my old dentist, after trying 2 more Forward Dental dentists( also not very qualified) and my dentist fixed the problem with a bridge like crown and charged me $1500. I only went to the Forward Dental people because they were on my health plan. I would never ever go to one of their offices again and would not suggest other people to do so. read more

After going to Forward Dental for over a decade, I finally had to find a new dentist because of two recent incidents in particular that I think people should be warned about. 1. Involves my father, who had the wrong side of his mouth drilled (and was initially billed for it, although many hours on the phone finally solved that problem). He had to set up two additional appointments to fix the problem created by the dentist. 2. During a routine cleaning, a hygienist broke a permanent retainer that has been attached to the back of my front teeth since I was 15. It was unpleasant having jagged metal half-hanging from the back of my teeth, but it wasn't the end of the world and the dentist was able to repair it right away. But, they then billed me almost $300 to repair it. Getting the charges dropped was a nightmare that involved being berated by their awful customer service staff. read more

I've had nothing but great experiences with this dentist office. Very friendly hygenist and knowledgeable dentist who recommended a new occlusal guard for me, and I've had great results from it. My only complaint would be that the actual treatment rooms need some serious updating...very clinical-looking and extremely outdated. But quality of care is very good. read more

The customer service here is by far the worst I have ever experienced. The receptionist that checked me in was very present but D and Angie that do the billing could use a lesson or two in how to conduct business professionally. I have had 2 encounters with D specifically that have made me question if that is the right location for me. While I do like my new dentist I would rather go elsewhere where all staff members are on board in making dental visits comfortable and nonjudgemental. The hygienist was friendly, attentive & knowledgeable. The Dentist I saw that day was equally friendly, attentive & knowledgeable. These people don't talk at you, they talk with you. They don't make you feel bad about not flossing or brushing well enough. Instead, they explain why & what you should be doing for excellent dental health. This place has WONDERFUL dentists. However, their front desk, customer service and billing department leaves A LOT to be desired. They can't seem to get things straight with the insurance company, and when you ask them to get a procedure pre-approved, they will tell you that's YOUR responsibility (even though there's no possible way you could know what billing code they will use) Then if you try to call and schedule an appointment, and you have an outstanding bill (even under $100) they will refuse. We have a credit score of 817. We've always paid our bills with them. That doesn't seem matter. read more

Anyone ever use Forward Dental? This is ridiculous: I went to get a small chip in my tooth repaired. Two weeks later doing nothing it fell out. I went back to get that fixed in October. While brushing my teeth the "repair" came out again. I call to make an appointment again as there's no reason the repair should have come undone in that short amount of time and get an appointment for two. I get a call 5 minutes ago telling me that I can not come in, that there was a balance of $54 that went to collections. (Keeping in mind this was an appointment for my daughter that my ex took her to-my bill from here was paid in full). I offer to pay when I go in tomorrow and am told they will never see me at a Forward Dental office because I had an account go to collections. This is the worst policy I have ever heard of. I could understand if it was thousands of dollars but it was 54 that I offered to take care of. I hope you lose all your business and I will be filing a report with the BBB. read more

Forward Dental in Glendale is not the place for me and my children any more. They have very limited flexibility in their scheduling with their Pediatric Dentist (only Wednesdays in the morning and every other Thursday) for young children. Mind you, I work and my children go to school (with perfect attendance). My daughter cried a little while getting cavities filled and the dentist said he couldn't do the rest of her fillings and so I was forced to cancel the rest of my appointments. Again, they are beyond inconvenient in their scheduling. The great part of all of this is that it forced me to find a new pediatric dentist's office that focuses strictly on children and has convenient hours for normal people. The new place has TVs on the ceiling to help distract your child when getting treatment vs. Forward Dental who only has a doctor who sings and recommends that your child get treatment with laughing gas if they shed a few tears. I also didn't appreciate being told that my daughter displayed some behavior issues of not listening, when she was in pain and scared. The dentists who treat adults are ok. If you don't stick with a regular one it could be a hit or miss with good customer service. I had one big guy who barely looked at my teeth and seemed to be in a rush (perhaps it was lunch time). The receptionists are sometimes ok, but one lady who thought she knew who I was when I came for my appointment clearly didn't know. I was called back to get work done of some fillings when I was only there for a regular cleaning. I had to inform them that they had the wrong person (probably some HIPPA violation I would imagine). I then checked in with MY name and she let me talk so that she would get it right. Lesson to learn: never settle when you can take the time to find better. Life shouldn't have to be difficult because others make it difficult. read more

The Racine location is terrible!!!! My husband got dentures from them and has been in 3 or 4 times for adjustments and they won't fix them. Every time he eats, they pop out. All they keep doing is telling him that he needs the posts installed into his jaw for another couple thousand dollars of course. We were in the process of remodeling and moving and I didn't receive a bill for services for myself. It went to collections and now they are telling me that my husband's free lifetime adjustments for the crappy dentures we paid $2000 for will not be honored. Oh, and of course there will be a fee to get the records that my insurance company already paid for in order to move to another dentist!!! This place is a joke! read more
