I recently relocated to the area and moved my kids to this Foss location. We are happy so far. Plenty of parking out front, and the staff are friendly on your way in. The changing room, stalls and bathrooms are very clean. The instructors are great, we have had 2 different instructors and both have done well to get our kids swimming and participating in class. I have heard midweek evenings are very busy, but we go very early on weekend mornings and find that to be busy, but in no way is it overwhelming. read more

We love Foss and couldn't be happier with the St. Louis Park location!! Everyone is SO helpful and friendly, especially Dar who went above and beyond to help us find a fall session that would work with our crazy schedule. My daughter was a very reluctant swimmer, hated to get her face wet and often times wouldn't even sit on a step at the local pool. Although the instructors are patient and helpful, she still needed to take the same beginning class 3 (or was it 4) times. The lead instructor (not sure of her name) saw that she wasn't progressing, but encouraged us to keep on trying and gave us a course credit. We were about to give up, but gave it one last try and it finally clicked. In less than a year my daughter has become an actual swimmer! She enjoys her lessons and is progressing quickly. On a recent family vacation instead of sitting with just her feet in the water, she swam, dove for toys and made tons of pool friends. read more

Foss stole $350 from me via a bad-faith "account credit" during COVID. I had my kids registered for classes here in early 2020, which were then canceled due to COVID. At the time, Foss sent an email that they would credit my account (around $350), and I really didn't think more of it because I knew we would go back and of course none of us knew how long COVID would drag on. Well now (Feb 2022) my kids are finally vaccinated and last week I eagerly signed them up for the new term, only to learn that my account credit EXPIRED last fall. I'm really furious. There was no communication from Foss that the credit would expire, and even if I had known, I wouldn't have taken my kids out to a place where they couldn't be masked before they were vaccinated. This policy from Foss demonstrates pure greed and a real disregard for kids' COVID safety. read more

We have loved swimming at FOSS for the last few years with both of our boys! They have learned a ton and in general the teachers have had a great energy and ability to teach to the individual. The last 3 semesters we have had ROCK STAR coaches for both our boys, which makes it that much more fun for all of us! Two stars because it is in fact a swim school. The current score on Yelp does not reflect out experience. We signed up our two year old in winter of 2018/19 for backfloat baby. Sign up was a hustle, they basically held our payment hostage for a month before they made decision if we actually get in, OK. Then the classes came (we did Sunday night). The place is teeny for the amount of people and activities they squeeze in. Every half an hour, 6-8 groups of small children with or without parents take place at their designated area of the small pool. Everything is really loud and hectic and there's a lot of splashing. Most of the class consisted of dunking the kid with some "fun" songs sprinkled in between. My kid was having none of it and mostly screamed. There was a general atmosphere of stress and "must do this right now". Just something every two year old loves, as you can imagine. We made it through four or five sessions of screaming before and during, with some ice cream after; and then we pulled the plug so to speak. Left the t St of the money (a lot) and ran. Nobody got in touch with us after that. When we go swimming, kiddo still asks to make sure "teacher Heather" will not be there. read more

We have been taking my son to Foss for about a year now. He excelled and then he was stagnant for a while. I give this school 5 stars because I brought the concern to management and they were absolutely fantastic about working with me and taking the time and initiative to look into what the causes could be. My guy LOVES going to swim class and he has a smile on his face the ENTIRE time. The instructors are great and really work to reach and improve each child. I give them a lot of credit because they often have students who don't participate and listen, and are being watched by parents the entire time. They handle every situation well and I appreciate that they listened to me as a parent when I said my son gets one warning then he is out of pool to watch. Each parent parents differently and they are respectful of different parenting styles. I recommend FOSS to all my friends. read more

My older two children have been attending Foss continuously for the past two years. They have loved every single teacher and have become super-competent swimmers - my eldest started out being afraid to put his face in (at age six) and is now swimming the butterfly, as does my nearly-six year old daughter. Completely amazing. Yes, it has been expensive but absolutely worth every penny for strong swimmers. My best experience with Foss happened tonight. My youngest, who is barely three, has been waiting literally almost her whole life to take lessons (I had her wait until she could go in without a parent because swimming nights are crazy enough without me having to get showered and dressed too). She finally started lessons and LOVES it, loves her teacher, and is learning a ton. However, her female teacher has been gone twice this session and her sub has been male. My daughter is absolutely terrified of male swimming teachers for some reason, and has refused to go in (screaming, tiny body shaking in fear, etc.). So tonight, the second time this has happened, I asked if they might possibly do something to get her in the water. I totally get the instructors need a vacation too, but these are premium-priced lessons. They were completely accommodating and set her up with a female teacher to work with her one-on-one while my son had his later lesson. I was feeling grumpy about the teacher being absent and missing two lessons so far, but they 100% made it right. It is a rare business that can step up and deliver such outstanding service. I walked out happy and my daughter was ecstatic to get a chance to swim! I could not recommend Foss more highly. read more

I was not happy with school and almost left but was reach out right away by Customer Service representative for school and by the site manager. They give me lots of different options and worked with me to reach schedule and options which is best for my child. Amazing customer service. read more
