(There is a pool on the premises but it is not a water park-type of pool experience.) Lots of parking outside and places for guardians to wait inside. Tons of kids of all ages and I noticed that the older kids were very gentle and caring for the littles. It was nice to see. Bring your own snacks and water. There is a robotic vending machine for $4 water the kids loved. Great for a rainy or snowy day. Follow it up with a visit to Dave and Buster's down the road at Southdale. (That's how we got them to leave!)

Walk in and pay the fee for the kiddos. As of Jan 2026 it was $10 a kid with unlimited time. Parents/guardians are free. There is a large park towards the end of the building! It kept my kiddos plenty busy! There is seating for the adults. There is also a gym space for kids to run, balls to play with, mini basketball hoops and items for the little kids to push ride on! There is also a pool to do laps and a gym with equipment, but I'm unsure if those cost extra. You can do birthday parties here! Check the website for additional information!! They do have 2 spots where you can get snacks and picnic tables to eat! Overall this was a very solid experience and we will happily be back!

Update - I mentioned the Y leadership was open to my suggestions. Their current campaign is 'What…read moreMoves You?' I suggested a 'What Moved You' campaign. I am interested in learning What Moved You at the YMCA? Maybe it was your first time jumping into the pool. Maybe it was a coach who saw your potential. Maybe it was camp, a fitness class, a mentor, or a community that made you feel like you belonged. Southdale YMCA is more than a place--it's a collection of moments that shape who we become. - A lesson learned. - A friendship formed. - A confidence gained. - A life changed. I've only been to the Uptown Y before, but am so glad I checked this location out! PARKING: They have a private lot and it's $1 (I believe for the first hour, and then $1 each hour after), which is nice to have downtown! Entrance is by buzzer only. AMENITIES: Similar to other Y locations in Minne, you'll find a pool, sauna, hot tub, two weights areas, a few rooms for group fitness classes, a basketball court, and more here. OFFERINGS: They offer private training (3 free sessions when you sign up), group fitness classes, swim workout classes, massage and more here. They even have a childcare area! ATMOSPHERE: I loved the vibe here! Peaceful music playing, not crowded at all (I did go at 4pm so probably best the evening rush), extremely nice updated bathrooms (with all-gender option), and well cared for equipment and amenities. PRICE: I joined in January for $0 joiner fee and $66/month for the year - competitive with other gyms in the area with similar amenities, and your money goes to a non-profit with a great cause! Highly recommend this location!

They have a pool that is always open for lap swimming, hot tub and sauna. They have lots of cardio equipment and free weights. They also have olympic lifting gear including bumper plates. The trainers are top notch. I have taken Olympic weight lifting and boot camp at this location and have always had a blast. The inner courtyard makes for a great area to do incline or decline sprints or body weight workouts. This is my go to gym when I am in Minneapolis. The best part is they are a non profit and put all the money you pay into community development with an emphasis on empowering women and girls. What is not to love!

From the very first meeting,…read moreit was clear they genuinely care about their work and are passionate about providing top‑tier service in a competitive market. Their guidance helped us choose a fiberglass pool, and after doing extensive research on the manufacturer in Quebec, Canada, we felt confident in the quality of the shell they use--especially compared to many other installers who source from southern U.S. manufacturers. It also carries a lifetime warranty and can pass this along to the next homeowner if we ever decide to move. Communication throughout the entire process was outstanding. They always took the time to sit down with us, answer every question, and clarify anything we were unsure about. The install crew was meticulous, professional, and clearly took pride in their work. They stuck to their schedule, and whenever something changed, they proactively updated us so we could adjust our plans. The electrical crew was equally impressive--so much so that we plan to use them for future projects. The landscaping and irrigation teams also did a great job, following up after the fence and sod were completed to make sure everything was dialed in perfectly. It meant a lot to have Chad and Zack stop by several times during the project to ensure everything was meeting our expectations and to take care of any remaining checklist items. Their involvement showed a level of commitment you don't often see. If I had one suggestion for improvement, it would be to provide manuals and pool information up front and offer a starter kit with chemicals and cleaning essentials--maybe even include it as part of a "package price." Despite Minnesota's unpredictable weather, our pool was installed in just under four weeks, and my family has been enjoying being able to cool off with the hot weather we've had as of late! We are looking forward to hosting many parties with friends and family moving forward. I highly recommend A Pool Day to anyone considering a pool installation. Their professionalism, craftsmanship, and customer care set them apart, and we're thrilled with the final result.
