My husband and I met Layla, a black lab mix, at an adoption event. We ended up falling in love with her, and a week later she was adopted! Karen, her foster mom, did such an amazing job with training and watching over her. She let us know all of the details she could about Layla, and gave us a lot of helpful tips. We submitted our online application on a Sunday, received a call Monday night, had a home visit on Thursday, and adopted on Sunday! Layla is such a wonderful addition to our lives. The Foster 2 Home agency really tries to place their dogs in their forever homes. The adoption process was easy and we were at Petsmart for about an hour in total. I haven't been able to get in touch with these people. I wanted to adopt a dog on their website and did everything they said I should. Submitted application, sent email, etc. I also called after not hearing back in their self-allotted time frame of "48 hours" to respond. Last I checked the status of the dog was updated on their website to "adoption pending"...but I have not heard from them (neither email nor phone). It's been nearly a week (5 full business days). Shelters are great, and I want to adopt from one, but how am I supposed to get a good feeling about it when they don't respond to any inquiries...a "sorry but you're not what we're looking for" would be wonderful so I would at least know! I'm also not one of those people that keeps calling non-stop over and over, it's just not worth my time. I'll be searching for another shelter to donate my time and money to. It's too bad really, for these guys. I'm really disappointed too because I volunteered at a shelter for 4 years. I LOVE dogs and the when I volunteered the time was not right to own one, so I waited and helped out. Now I feel it is, and I get no response. If I hear back I will update on here, but otherwise "two stars" for no response and giving them the "benefit of the doubt". Very disappointed. read more

I recently adopted from Foster2Home which is a volunteer only organization. For the few of you choosing to leave very bad reviews over what appears to be slow communication from F2H or perhaps misunderstandings because of insensitive or impatient emails on your part, please think again before trashing such an organization because "you don't have the time" or patience it seems to wait your turn. I have been where you are but at the same time I realize these people are spending their lives day after day week after week year after year as a volunteer with no pay and many times at their own expense, rescuing, providing medical treatment, transporting or arranging transport, advertising, finding temp fosters, interviewing temp and permanent fosters, juggling the bills within a zero profit margin and many times depleted resources while trying to stay compliant with state laws and keep up with the mounting debt. The list could go on forever as dose the extreme need for these imperfect but determined individuals. So before you voice your insignificant frustration over the fact an over worked and perhaps temporarily understaffed organization doesn't punch your time clock quick enough or perhaps doesn't handle your tempered email with the utmost professionalism, why don't you think of the thousands of animals you are depriving of a proper home by chasing off potential adopters over your pettiness. Every potential adoptee that is chased off by your hysterical review over a unreturned phone call creates a chain reaction in that it is slowing the process of getting current animals adopted and future animals placed. Did my adoption go seamless? Not really. There were glitches and I did my time with different organizations looking for the right pet only to find they had already been adopted as well as waiting on unreturned calls. But once the process got going I can honestly say that the persons I dealt with from Foster2Home did their very best to honor my request and fix any problem. Perhaps if you had the capacity to put your selves in the shoes of these selfless individuals and not go in with expectations and handle them with respect patience and not put a time stamp on them you too could make a difference when you finally do acquire and re home one of the many thousands of poor souls waiting for their forever home. And let's not forget it makes no difference that you know you and your home will be fit for adoption, you are a stranger to the organization and must be humble and willing to prove your worthiness as many of these animals end up re homed time after time for all kinds of reasons. I gave this a 4 star review knowing that the glitches I had were taken care of and that their hearts are in it. I will also be forwarding a note to them on the importance of obtaining keeping track of and relaying important back ground info, that is critical to get the pet off to a good start after rehoming and in my case needed improvement. Hence the missing 5th star. I am sure by the response I got with everything else they will take this under advisement and do their best to keep information from not reaching them through the different chains of command. (My dog bounced around a lot and was finally flown from Texas to F2H. ) read more

I adopted my lab mix pup from Foster 2 Home a few days ago after 'courting' her for 2 weeks. The organization is very thorough - checking references, vet records, and doing a home check. Although this may seem extreme, they are committed to making sure that matches will succeed, and that new owners are responsible. I was extremely impressed with the pup's foster mom that helped me throughout the process. She did a fantastic job with the pup and was always available to answer my questions. Chrissy, the F2H team member that helped me with the adoption was thorough in explaining the process and requirements. This is an all-volunteer organization, so the F2H folks are doing all the work in their spare time. If you are looking for a quick-fix dog adoption, this isn't the organization for you. If, however, you're committed to rescuing a wonderful dog in need, check them out. read more

After returning Davey the owner of the rescue put him up for adoption without mentioning the anxiety issues I had been through. I and some of my friends added comments to the page about him but the owner removed the comments and blocked additional ones. The vet the rescue sent me to to treat he dog gave 2 prescriptions to deal with his anxiety. He had also damaged his teeth breaking out of cages. The owner said they were wrong and the dog had no anxiety issues. The two women I dealt with when I adopted the dog have quit the organization along with the gentleman who fostered him for 6 months prior to my adopting him. Since Foster 2 home doesn't return adoption costs if a dog is returned, they can misrepresent dogs and keep the money from returns. In addition to the $300.00 I spent for adoption, I spent an additional $950.00 at Tops Kennel for training the owner of the rescue assured me would help. She now claims the dog has no issues? Others who have returned animals to the rescue say the owner sends them nasty e-mails after they return the pet. Deleting my messages explaining the dogs issues while representing him as a dog that doesn't need to be crated is cruel. Losing the 3 representatives I dealt with inside of 90 days if the adoption speaks volumes. When things go badly, the owner's true colors are revealed. read more

WOW! Is all I can say. I tried to contact the owner of this so called rescue and after corresponding with her via email for 1/2 a day, she sent me the rudest email I have ever gotten, accusing me of everything from lying and wasting her time to being self centered. I had not even spoken with her on the phone. She got all of this from email correspondence and when I ended up getting stuck at work and not getting back to her immediately she sent me this horrible email. I would never deal with people like this. They are more about themselves than they are for the animals. RUn as fast as you can from this rescue. There are much better ones to deal with who truly care about the animals. This one truly does not. read more

I rescued an animal from this rescue end of last year. Long story short, things were not what they seemed and we had to relinquish the dog after a month. I didn't ask for any refund, and donated everything I had for the animal back to them. The head of the rescue wrote me the nastiest emails you have ever seen, calling me a liar and a horrible person. The dog is now back on their site and magically they have changed his breed type and now site all the reason why I had to return the dog. I feel as though I was mislead from the beginning with this animal and it's not the animals fault. I would never adopt from this rescue again. read more

Very disappointing. There is obviously something shading with this so called rescue. We are a family able willing and ready with a fenced in yard, someone home during the day and everything a dog would ever want or need. Without even checking our references they determined it would be too much for us to handle which is the most incorrect statement of this family. Even if you are first with your application, first to meet and determine the pet you came to see they are very pushy to try and get you to take another pet. I tried to do the right thing by saving a dog but its because of people like this I would rather buy our pet. Go somewhere else if you want a pet. read more

We just adopted "Blondie" and we are new to the process of rescue. Everyone was wonderful! Cathy, the owner--immediately contacted me and sent the application to the foster mom. The foster mom and I, have spoken MANY times and I can easily get any questions I have, answered right away. I was very nervous about a rescue dog--I don't tend to rush into things--but this process has been so positive! I must say--the people in this organization are angels!! When we came to the adoption, the foster mom and the Cathy had tears in their eyes--they were so happy for Blondie to find a forever home. We lost a wonderful dog after 14 years, and I never thought that we would find a dog as sweet, cuddly, kind and adorable as her. But Blondie is amazing!! She is patient, kind, and just so sweet! I've recently had the opportunity to meet several animal rescue organizations. It's heartbreaking how many dogs are looking for new homes, but it's also heartwarming how many rescue organizations are committed to finding to finding them new homes. I was particularly touched by the people affiliated with the "Foster2Home" rescue. Their deep commitment to help as many animals as possible is unbelievable. They've rescued over 1,200 animals since 2010. I was impressed with the amount of time and effort the volunteers spend qualifying and making sure that each of their rescues is placed with the best possible home. I've recently rescued two little dogs myself. They're absolutely perfect, and especially loving pets because they know they've been rescued. A wonderful rescue agency. I adopted my dog 4 months ago from them. The process was overwhelming at first but once it was final I realized why it was so tough. They really do their "homework" to make sure every dog has the right fit for their forever home. These dogs have already been through so much they want to make sure it is a perfect safe match. We adopted our little terrier mix from Foster 2 Homes last February. I found them to be very caring and well run. Our dog'sfoster mom has fostered over 20 dogs in the past and really knew what she was doing. She helped introduce this friendly little terrier mix to my 100 Ibs. lab. I was not sure how my 8 yr. old lab would like this pup but she reassured me and helped introduce them. Very calm and nice. The dogs get along great - never any problems,they play well together, sleep in the same bed. When I went to pick up my dog the owner was talking to her husband about driving out in a snow storm to pick up a dog from a kill shelter. I spoke to the owner and she seemed very sincere to me. These people are all volunteers they donate their time, expertise , and homes to these dogs. They have saved hundreds of dogs from being killed. Lets give them some credit. There was good and bad with our adoption process. Had to call several times and email several times to get a response. They finally called back and we were able to complete the paperwork and home inspection. What I really liked is they want to make sure the dogs make it to a good home. There was one guy there that said he was going to keep the dog outside and on a tie out most of the time. What I noticed was they had a difficult time telling him no, but I could tell there was no way he was getting a dog from them. I don't know the people or reasons why the others here didn't get the dog they wanted. Suggestion to the people running Foster2Home, return calls and emails within one day, and I would have given them five stars. The foster family, on the other hand was awesome!! This company is completely unprofessional. The woman in charge, Cathy has absolutely no idea how to run a business. I attended an adoption event after contacting her to show my interest in one of the dogs. When I got to the event, it was extremely disorganized. It took us awhile to even figure out who was in charge. I patiently waited to speak to someone about the dog I was interested in, and when I finally got their attention, the woman was rude and uninterested. I was told to contact her later that day, which I did. She said she would review my application and set up a time for us to have a home visit. She never did contact me back, I had to reach out to her to get any information regarding my application. After less than 24 hours of waiting for her to call me back to set up the appointment, I contacted her to follow up to find out that she already gave the dog to someone else. She mislead us throughout the entire process and did nothing but waste our time. For someone who's business is to find loving homes for dogs, she needs to practice better business etiquette. read more

Had a horrible experience with this rescue a few weeks ago. My parents were interested in 2 dogs, they filled out all of the paperwork and was told both dogs would be at the adoption event that coming Saturday. I met my parents there we got there before the event started hoping to spend some time with both of the dogs before the mad rush. Cathy the organizer if you can call her that was EXTREMELY RUDE to us when we asked what time the dogs were getting there, that should have been the first indication this was not going to end well. The dogs my parents wanted arrived, they were each holding one and some photographer they hired to take pictures ripped both dogs out their arms for a photo shoot. The event was a total disaster! The poor dogs were all shaking, there was so much commotion between too many people, the so called "foster mom's of the dogs pushing the dogs at you, almost felt like they could not wait to get rid of them from their care. We once again approached Cathy to ask her what the next step was in the adoption process. BIG MISTAKE, Cathy went off on not only myself, but my 71 year old mother telling us to "stop pestering her"..She said that the foster mom of the one dog that we liked would be reaching out to us, that never happened. We got another dog from another rescue that although very strict very nice to deal with. There is something wrong with this Cathy and she should not be in charge of adoption events if she can't handle the stress. We also had a VERY BAD experience with Foster 2 Home. My kids and I went last Sunday, November 4th to the Pet Smart on 59 in Aurora, and saw a dog that would be a perfect fit for our family. I emailed first thing Monday morning, then again, Monday afternoon, filled out an adoption form, called the phone number on the website, with absolutely NO response at all! I finally called Pet Smart to find out how to reach someone to move the adoption along, and had to call them 3 times. Finally I received a call on Saturday am - 5 days after I sent my first email to tell me that the dog we hoped to add to our family, was already being adopted. When I mentioned that I had emailed on Monday first thing, her response was "Oh, really". So who in the heck is getting and reading emails and trying to place the dogs with the families that reached out first, as I believe we were. There are too many good shelters out there to deal with this nonsense ever again! read more
