We adopted Linus a 10 month old Pointer/Beagle mix from the Buddy Foundation 3 weeks ago! The shelter was very clean and the people were great to work with. They really care about the animals they have and want the best fit for them. I had been to another dog adoption shelter that had dog crates stacked on dog crates with some dogs that were visibly not well. Buddy is honest and upfront and so reasonably priced based on the neutering done, shots and medication my puppy received. Thank you Buddy!!!

Very nice people. Love my Buddy I got frm them. They told me about his issues before I decided to adopt him, they are workable.

I have adopted from here twice. My first kitty we adopted 8 years ago. He was ready to be euthanized because he had a facial defect. Buddy foundation saved him and paid for surgery to fix the issue. We came in looking for a cat and found our baby, Fin. Now we were searching for the perfect buddy for Fin, 8 years old, but active. Buddy Foundation helped us AGAIN. Finding the best little buddy for Fin. He was "Kenny" there, but we named him Elliot. However, he responds to his nickname "slinky". He has been absolutely perfect for us. Thank you so much to The Buddy Foundation. They save so many animals. Many of whom would be euthanized. They recognize that it is not the fault of the precious animal. They do their best to save as many as possible. We are so lucky to have crossed paths with this beautiful foundation.

This was my first adoption experience and I am so glad I was able to come across this place! We were helped by Elizabeth. When we came in we were interested in a couple dogs but she had asked a few questions about our home and family and advised us with the dogs personalizes. Instead we got to see dogs that would better suit our family and I think that was such a great thing. It's great to know that there is someone not only looking out for our choice on our new family member but mostly for the dogs happiness and compatibility with the family so they can be happy and not end up returned. I highly recommend this adoption place to any one!!! The other staff is so welcoming and friendly as well! We absolutely love our dog justice and she acclimated to a new house and people very easily. I'm so glad the people here look out for the animals and don't just want to push them out the door.

Heaven for dogs and cats looking for a loving forever home!

As far as the adoption process goes, the fees are a little high BUT for good reason.

Canes in bright colors? Check. Piles of beanie babies? Yep. Random junk? Mm-hmm!…read more Since I moved to Roselle a year ago, I've been driving myself out to distant Goodwill locations and other assorted retail shops while overlooking this gem right nearby. Actually, I did know it was here, but I had poor experiences at other Salvation Army locations and didn't want to come here. A few months ago, I stopped in this location on a whim to drop off some donations and ended up being kind of impressed! It's one of the largest, sunniest, and most organized Salvation Army stores I've ever seen. Every section is clearly labeled by a sign hanging from the ceiling. The clothes are organized by colors and styles. The employees are actually friendly. And the prices!? LOW! Yeah, some things smell "old," there's a bit of dust in the air, some of the aisles are quite narrow, and some things seem kind of broken (I would recommend staying away from the toys and electronics), but it doesn't bother me. Somewhere in the midst of all of this, there is treasure to be found! While the clothes are a bit worn down and more along the line of spring break t-shirts than designer tops, this is my jam for last-minute grabs. Although I probably won't be filling my closets with clothes from Salvation Army, this is a good spot for pick up some clothes that can be dirty, items for homemade costumes, knick knacks, and furniture that you can upcycle. I am, however, currently wearing a pair of pajama pants that I bought here (don't worry, I washed them first). Oh, and as Candice mentioned in her recent review, the couches here are awesome. I found myself wandering around the dozens of couches, wondering if there was any chance that my husband would be willing to drop a few bucks on a new (and unnecessary) addition to our living room. There were so many to choose from and they weren't icky at all! We haven't found the perfect couch or armchair yet but I'm keeping my eyes peeled. By the way, donations are accepted at the Salvation Army truck in the parking lot of Nerge Road. I don't understand why donations are accepted this way, but hey, it's for a good cause. And it works.

No signs posted but finally figured out where to take my donations. Went in the back and the helper said to leave my bags in one area and pointed out the mound of clothes that looked like it might tip at any time. I'll stick with Goodwill by the house who brings a cart out to you and you don't see any of that.

We adopted a dane/lab mix from Almost Home last year. I really appreciated the foster-to-adopt…read moresystem they have to give you a clearer idea of what the specific animal is all about. I've had dogs my whole life and when I filled out their paperwork I was of the opinion the only reason I might return a dog would be aggression or if my personal financial situation changed dramatically. The fostering system gave me a much better idea of what I was committing to in this case. My wife, kiddo, and I all came to meet the dog we thought we wanted and after that went well we took her home. It became immediately clear that this girl had not been indoors or socialized very much, if ever. I was very surprised to have essentially a 70lb puppy on my hands. This was more work than I expected, and it was more work than my family expected, but knowing we had time to work with her as a foster in our home environment provided a lot of confidence in seeing how it went. Almost Home was in regular contact to check in with us and provided us with enrichment toys, advice, and resources for taking her to training classes. There was never pressure to keep her, and it was always clear everybody was only interested in what was best for the animal. After a few weeks she was improving, but still more work than I expected, and Almost Home was happy to let us continue to foster until everybody was sure this would be a good fit. Our girl kept improving and we committed to the adoption. Eventually we were able to return our home to normal, and do so free of concerns things would be destroyed. The time and space that was provided to be sure this would all work out resulted in one of the best bonds I've ever had with a dog. We're inseparable these days, and we owe it to the support Almost Home and their volunteers offered throughout the process.
