I hate to write this review. I live in Sweet Home and I want all our businesses to be successful and flourish. That said, I need to write this as visitors should be warned. Reading through other reviews (on multiple sites) the owners seem to have a pattern of treating guests inappropriately. We booked the room for a business trip for a customer who was coming to Sweet Home. This was for an out of town guest. I tried to call the Inn two weeks ago to make a direct booking. I left 3 messages and none were returned. I was hoping to give them the direct business. So I booked it through Expedia. Expedia took our Amex card and I received confirmation that the booking was confirmed Several days later, I received a message on Expedia saying that they did not accept American Express at the Inn. I told her to charge it under Expedia. She said she couldn't. That's fine. I asked her for a phone number because I had tried calling the mainline and no one answered. They gave me a personal cell phone number to call. I called the number and talked to the Female owner. She told me they don't accept American Express, but they can if they charge a surcharge. I told her I'd rather not pay the surcharge and she told me I could pay either cash or with a different credit card check in. I didn't hear anything back for a few days and then this morning I received a cancellation. I called their main hotel line again, no answer. So I called the cell phone that they had given me before. This time the Male owner answered. I asked why my reservation has been canceled and he said we have been trying to contact you for another credit card. I told him I talked to his wife a few days before everything was all good then. he said no we need a credit card. OK I was willing to give him a credit card at that moment. He said the credit card has to be in my name, I said yes it is. Then he told me that the room were all booked (which was a lie, they have rooms available online and he also lied to Expedia about this too). Anytime I tried to speak to him. He just talked over me and became very rude. Then he hung up the phone. I've filed a complaint a with Expedia. Unfortunately, because they canceled the reservation I have no photos to share of the conversations. For reading this, Sweet Home is a wonderful place to visit and vacation. Don't let these folks scare you. I'll be booking a new room at the Best Western in Lebanon. We have booked rooms at BW in the past and it has been a pleasant experience. I was hoping to try out the Foster Lake Inn as it's closer and I wanted to support a local business. It's very sad that the owners are not customer service oriented. I would suggest that you hire a manager and pull yourselves out of the business. read more

Cute place with comfy rooms, friendly and helpful owners, and a great location! Steve had great recommendations on hikes and restaurants in the area. There is a great restaurant next door and a laundry room on site. And, of course, a lake right across the street! Love this place! read more

This place is a total "sleeper!" You know, like that old 1970 AMC Gremlin that pulls up to you and blows your doors off with its hidden V-8 race engine?? The owners, Tracy & Steve couldn't have been more accommodating, both available and nonchalant. The suite was like a well maintained cabin with sweeping lake views. If you're reading this review because you're on-the-fence, jump off now on the side of Foster Lake Inn... If you're like us, you'll be wanting to book again and again. read more

PSA WARNING: The Country star RV park by the lake is a joke. Me and my disabled dad have lived here for 2 and a half years and today we get a 24 hour eviction notice ( already paid for this month). They want to evict us because of a dispute they had with people that came to visit us. Realistically it's an excuse, the park "manager" has done nothing but start problems with us since we moved here. Including calling the cops and saying my sisters boyfriend of 3 years was beating her so they could make it so he wasn't allowed here. Then they never showed us the footage of this made up incident. Plus we have been threatened to be evicted before so they could get what they want instead of coming and talking too us like adults. These are just a few of the many examples of how they treat people here. I already called SHPD and they told me that they will need to file for a judge signed eviction notice before they will be able force me and my dad on the street. Next I'm calling lawyers and I'm open to suggestions on who to call. I thought my landlord was a cool and reasonable guy but he has shown time and time again his true colors. He would rather bring me earplugs than confront the park "manager" to not leave his dog out all night long in the winter, or all day long with no food and water in the hot sun. Then if the dog gets on the porch it gets kicked. The solution to this animal abuse; ear plugs. Basically, looking for someone to consult about this and a place for us to go. I'm definitely not leaving in no 24 hours and they are going to have to deal. read more

Came to Sweet Home for a wedding and decided to make it a weekend trip. Loved this little Inn. Very cute and lots of space. Clean and so many very cool antiques. Steve was helpful on hikes we could take while exploring the area. Enjoyed the weekend. It was our second time ever getting away without kids in 20 years and we needed the beauty, the quiet and the break from our crazy every day lives. Steve invited us to extend our trip as a gift. Just a truly magical experience for us. Such a kind gesture. I will definitely be returning to stay at the Inn. Enjoy the town and embrace the community. We also loved the cat who greeted us as we came and went. And omg the sheets were so soft. read more

We stayed at Foster Lake Inn this past week, which was over the July 4th, and had a very unpleasant experience. We arrived late Monday night and were basically given our keys and rushed upstairs to our rooms (we had two rooms and one shared bathroom). The worst was when you first walk in the house there was a foul odor of either cat litter boxes or dogs, or something that smells super bad! The odor continued from the living room and up the stairs into the hallway. The bedrooms were quite musty, but were at least somewhat tolerable as far as the smell. The foul smell from outside the rooms was so bad that you had to make sure the bedroom doors were shut so you didn't get the smell from the hallway. Seriously, I gagged a few times just from the foul smell! The carpets had stains on them like a dog had relieved himself and the spots were never cleaned. The beds were super saggy and had very little support. Because it was quite hot and humid you had to run the window swamp cooler 24/7 for it to be comfortable. Unfortunately, the swamp cooler would blow directly on me on the bed, which made it uncomfortable. The first two days we had maid/cleaning service where they cleaned our bathroom, changed the dirty towels, made the beds (not sure if the bed sheets were ever changed), emptied the trash cans, etc. They never replaced the soap and didn't provide shampoo/lotions. Actually there was a basket of miscellaneous shampoos and lotions, but most of them had already been used! In other words, they were partially empty and left there from other guests--gross! On the third day their young son knocked on my door and said that his Dad wanted to talk to me. The owner's husband was on the phone and told me that Tracy (his wife) normally cleans our two rooms and our bathroom, but she was bitten by a cat and was in the hospital and would be able to get to our rooms until later in the day. Of course I told him that it was not a problem and that he should take care of his wife. He mentioned that a cat bit her where it went down to the bone and she would most likely need surgery. He also said that the reason he was calling me was to let us know that a high school gal was going to need to get into our bathroom to get to the cleaning supplies, which were stored in a closet in our bathroom. In other words, the high school gas was going to clean the other rooms but not ours! Needless to say, our rooms and bathroom were never cleaned for the duration of our stay, which we were there for 7 days. Every night when we came back to our rooms we saw that the beds were un-made, the dirty towels still on the floor of the bathroom, the trash cans were over-flowing with trash, etc.--nothing had been cleaned. By the way after the first night my husband noticed that the room key would not open his door. They said they would fix it but it never really got fixed. In fact, the door know would fall out of the socket. The entire time we were there my husbands room had to be left unlocked. When it was time to checkout I asked for a discount because of not getting any cleaning service for 4 days. I spoke to Tracy (owner) on the phone from her hospital bed to where she said that cleaning service was "available upon request". I had no idea that it was only available upon request. If I had know that then of course we would have requested it. It's really had to believe that they wouldn't clean the rooms. I have never stayed at a hotel/motel/inn, etc. where they didn't clean the rooms. I have never stayed at a place where they gave you used shampoos/conditioners/lotions, etc. I have never stayed at a place that had such a foul smell that it made you gag! We would have moved to another hotel but there were no free rooms available in town. The whole experience was unfortunate, and we will not be going back ever! I find it hard to believe that anyone could rent rooms out where the conditions were completely unacceptable. On a positive note, the inn is located across the street from Foster Lake and the view is beautiful. The price of the rooms was lower than the two other hotels in town, but not worth it! read more

We stayed in the suite and loved it. The room is very large and the whirl tub is great. The Inn is very nice and in a great location. There is fishing in the beautiful lake directly in front of the Inn. Steve and Tracy are very helpful and knowledgeable of the area. We would definitely recommend it. read more

I called 3 days prior to our arrival to let the establishment know we would be traveling with a service animal. They said they never had one before but that it was fine. Upon arrival, the man helping us seemed friendly. He showed us to our room and we told him after a day of driving we would be going to get food. We went next door to grab some food, when about 20 minutes later I get a seething call from Steven, the owner. He said that my dog was not a service animal, claiming that I was trying to pull one over on him, and exclaiming that he would be kicking us out at 1130 at night. I explained to him my animal is an emotional support dog that I am training for counseling purposes as well as REGISTERED as a companion animal for my anxiety and agoraphobia. I carry around notes from my doctor claiming this dog is needed, in addition to a vest and card with my information on it. This man claimed that his establishment does not allow companion dogs for "mental problems" but only service dogs for disabilities. He claimed since he was an officer at one point, he knew the laws better than I did. He treated me awful and spoke to me as if I were an incompetent child. The experience was truly traumatic. My fiance, myself and my companion dog ended up spending the night in the car. Not only was this absolutely uncalled for, but I was treated and made to feel as if I were a criminal and trying to pull something over on this man. My dog travels everywhere with me and I have never been treated so poorly by ANYONE. She has flown cross country with me, she has accompanied me on every trip, in restaurants, in every hotel and even at work. It was truly sickening and I spent the night crying in my car. Only good thing - they did not charge me for this awful experience. The place and location appeared to be beautiful, the milisecond I was able to enjoy it. However, the owner completely lacks tact, and handled the situation atrociously through blaming paying customers - having the audacity to call us liars! Under the ADA law, I now know companion animals aren't covered for some hotel owners if they choose to react this way - thanks to the extensive lecture I received from the owner over the phone.
