I was not happy with my overall service from Foundation Escrow. It started off with a phone call and no documentation for me to wire earnest money funds for my purchase. When I asked for some documentation showing a request for the funds and what they would be used for, my request was met with confusion. Would anyone feel comfortable wiring funds to someone as a verbal request over the phone with no documentation? No document showing that escrow was opened, no document with a request for funds, just a phone call and confusion that I asked for any of that before wiring $20K. Communication was not forthcoming or proactive from the agents involved at anytime during the entire transaction until the last 24 hrs. We were in a very tight situation for the seller and had the escrow agents at Foundation been more proactive about making sure that everyone was informed and in the loop, the transaction would have closed on time and gone more smoothly. Documents were sent to me that required an escrow agent's expertise, but the agent did not understand how to fill-out the forms. I had to ask the agent to actually open the email and look at the form since she didn't understand what I was asking. Some of the names and information on the real estate and escrow forms were not accurate. This was the seller's chosen escrow company and the seller's name was incorrect on some of the documents. I have never dealt with such disorganization with an escrow company. read more

Awful escrow company. My escrow process ended up canceled by the sellers because of this escrow company's incompetence. They costed me a property. I'd advise to stay away from them. I've used other escrow companies in the past, and it's a day and night difference. They started with bombarding me with identical emails and yet did not provide clear instructions on how to make a deposit. They use FedEx! Who uses FedEx these days? It's such an awful company. They ended up holding my mail for over a week in Oakland when I shipped my check from San Diego to Rancho Bernardo. read more

Just finished our transaction with Foundation Escrow. Have to say, after going through at least 15 transactions over the years, this is the worst performing escrow company we've ever encountered. For example, we received multiple random documents from their other clients during escrow. After telling them, they just brushed it off and stated they take confidentiality very seriously (well for some clients obviously). In addition, many documents arrived late or we have to haggle them to get documents typically sent automatically. Their indifference actually helped us out because we got to delay removing our contingencies, but their performance is not impressive.... I wish we used a different escrow company, what a nightmare. They have not paid out my homeowners insurance premium, which is now past due. I paid this through closing costs, and it was specifically listed as supposed to be paid through escrow. Same story with my home warranty. BEWARE of using Foundation Escrow. I've called multiple times throughout the process to get them to follow through on what they're supposed to do (I should not have to do this). Many times when I've called, their voicemail box is full. I have no confidence that they are following through with paying out all line items wrapped up in my closing costs, and I'm worried about things going wrong post home purchase. I do not recommend using Foundation Escrow when buying a home. read more

Together, they make an excellent team and I've always had great service from them. This past winter, as folks were getting ready for the holidays and many were navigating various sicknesses, I had a transaction that required a few extra steps in regards to paperwork. Heather went out of her way to make sure that nothing fell between the cracks and eveyone was on pace to close on time. Not only that, but I found out that while she was keeping eveyone on schedule, she was also battling COVID. Of course, one should not expect that their escrow officer will always perform 100% when they are recovering from COVID, but it just goes to show the type of service Heather Wolf provides, and the type of team Andrea is running at Foundation Escrow. We used Foundation Escrow this past month and had a number of issues. It took until day 30 for the paperwork to correctly reflect the right name for the buyer after several requests to make it right. The name actually took on two different versions. Also trying to reach them by phone is futile. I was put on hold and intercepted by the front desk so many times while trying to get escrow instructions by phone, per their request, and also when wiring funds. They were toooo busy until I said I wouldn't be wiring money, then they suddenly were available. Poor customer service. read more
