I travel to Mount Pleasant on business frequently and try to stop in @ CrossFit Wando every time. Sylvia is one of the best coaches I have ever worked with. I learn something new or improve some skill or technique with each drop-in. The gym itself is very clean with new and well maintained equipment. I have been to other gyms where a hard workout will have you laying on a disgusting floor, not at Wando! I have been going to gyms of all sorts for over 30 years. Most of them pay little mind to you once you pay your membership. You are lucky if they look up from their phones when you walk through the door much less pay attention to how you exercise. Crossfit Wando isn't a gym, it is a family. Every coach gets to know you. They know your progress, your weaknesses, your injuries and your strengths. They watch your every movement through every workout. They consistently coach, praise, advise and teach. This isn't a meat market, it isn't a competition against anyone but yourself. Young and old work out side by side and cheer each other on. I used to hate getting up early to exercise before work. Now I couldn't imagine my day without it. Some say crossfit is expensive. I think of it like this. A session with a personal trainer is typically about $60... for one session. Go one to two times a week for a month and you spend nearly $250 to $500. That is far more than a month at Crossfit. You aren't getting absolute one on one training, but it is darn near the same thing. The classes are small and the coaches successfully coach each person in the group. I feel much safer and more challenged doing crossfit than any other workout I have done. It isn't for everyone, but it sure is for me! read more

Very friendly gym. I really liked their programming and coaches. My only complaint would be (what I consider) expensive weekly drop in rate. When I have traveled most crossfit gyms charge $20 for one day or ~$50 for the week and wando charges more (and doesn't crossfit on Wednesdays), that is the only thing that kept me from coming back when I as in town. I'm already paying $$ at my gym back home, otherwise, I highly recommend Wando for beginners or advanced cross-fitters. read more

Fantastic gym. I have been an avid crossfitter for 7 years. Joined Wando when I moved to Mt Pleasant a year and a half ago. Friendly and knowledgeable staff- they've helped identify form problems that no one else targeted in my prior 5 years. Their class schedule accommodates early AM, morning, mid day and afternoon/early evening. The ONLY box that I am aware of in the area that offers childcare 5 days per week. They also offer a turnkey membership add on for more flexibilty to work out if you have a tough time attending a class. Spotless facility and tons of equipment. Every single thing that they do is targeted at supporting their members getting in to the gym and improving their fitness. You need to improve your rowing form- ok, they have a rowing clinic coached by an outside expert (free of charge and included in your membership). You need childcare- ok, they have someone there 5 days per week EVERY week. I once suggested better organization for the wall balls and within a week Dan had built an entire new wall unit. This gym is dedicated to having long term members and they do what it takes to keep you there. Dan, Sylvia and crew (I Stacie!) do not disappoint. read more
