My daughter has been at the Danville location for over two years. Overall, she's learned a lot, met a great group of friends, and I've felt safe knowing my daughter is well cared for by her teachers. I also love the flexibility and full-day options for working parents. There are very few other facilities in this area that cover childcare for the full day so Fountainhead has really saved us. I also appreciate that they invest in updating the facility to keep it clean, nice, and in good working order for the kids. Also, they have fun special days for the kids like bringing a petting zoo to school and visits at the school from the police force and firefighters. They put a lot of love and care into providing a variety of opportunities for the kids to learn. I would recommend this location for older children (age 3+) but I'm mixed on sending a little one here if you like more pro-active communication about your child. There's a staff change halfway through the day so the afternoon crew doesn't know what happens with your kid in the morning and it is not their model to give you insight into the daily happenings of your child. Not a concern as my daughter got older but would have been nice during her younger years when there was so much growth and development (and she couldn't yet communicate with me). One other thing to note is the billing department is run by one person and it's a complex system and thus, prone to human error. We were overbilled twice by hundreds of dollars and wouldn't have caught it unless we were closely auditing their confusing invoices. I hope they can improve that in the future. Overall, I would recommend this preschool to anyone looking for care for their talking child. read more

Our child was already attending the school during the 2025-2026 school year, and in May 2026 we completed re-enrollment for the upcoming 2026-2027 school year. As part of that process, we paid over $2,100, which represented our child's first month's tuition for the upcoming school year beginning in August 2026. Unfortunately, due to unforeseen family circumstances, we made the difficult decision to enroll our child in a school closer to home. This decision was not made lightly but was determined to be in our family's best interest. In June 2026--just one month after making the payment and approximately two months before the start of the new school year--we contacted the school to explain the situation and request a refund of the prepaid tuition. While I understand that schools must have policies in place, I was disappointed by the complete lack of flexibility or willingness to work with our family despite the circumstances and the significant advance notice provided. This was not a last-minute withdrawal after classes had begun, nor was it a request for a refund after the school year had begun. The payment had been made in May for tuition covering August, and the refund was requested in June, well before the start of the school year. However, the school was not willing to issue any refund. What makes this especially difficult is that the payment was not simply a registration fee or a traditional enrollment deposit--it was an entire month's tuition totaling more than $2,100 for a month of school that had not yet occurred. Given that we notified the school approximately two months before the start date, I had hoped there would be some consideration, understanding, or willingness to work with our family. Instead, the response was strictly policy-driven, with no accommodation offered despite the advance notice and the fact that our child would not be utilizing any services associated with that prepaid tuition. In my opinion, the unwillingness to consider any accommodation despite the circumstances and the substantial advance notice reflects a business practice that prioritizes rigid adherence to policy over partnership with families. For a school that emphasizes community, compassion, and family values, this response was both surprising and disappointing. I would encourage prospective families to carefully review all enrollment, re-enrollment, cancellation, and refund policies before making any financial commitment. Families should be aware that even prepaid tuition for a future school year is nonrefundable, regardless of how much advance notice is given or whether circumstances change before the school year begins. A school's values are reflected not only in its educational program but also in how it supports and partners with families during challenging transitions. While others may have positive experiences, ours left us feeling disappointed and unsupported during what was already a difficult decision for our family. My hope in sharing this review is not simply to express frustration, but to encourage the school to consider a more reasonable and compassionate approach when long-standing families encounter unexpected life changes. A willingness to work collaboratively with families--particularly when substantial notice is provided and school year has not started--would go a long way toward fostering trust, goodwill, and a stronger sense of community among the families it serves. read more

His teachers are wonderful, warm and supportive. They really do work with you through transitions and social issues that may pop up for any toddler/young child. Our daughter has been at Fountainhead in Danville for a year, and we're overall quite happy with it! She is happy to go each morning. She does Spanish immersion in the afternoons which she loves - and has really learned some Spanish! Also really enjoys 'science class' weekly, and does a LOT of art. The school is very convenient for us, as it has very few closures and offers longer hours when needed. We do wish that they used Brightwheel for easier quick communication with teachers, photos, etc., but teachers have been happy to talk when we've asked. read more

Highest recommendation. When our 5 year old graduated and moved into kindergarten, the assessment test was a breeze after only a year at fountainhead. Our 4 year old, still enrolled at fountainhead in his second year, can do our kindergarteners home work with no problem. Outside of outstanding academics, all of the teachers and administrators are top notch in monitoring and tuning in to every child's developmental needs and interests. Our children are happy there. Beware of this place. There are good (and great) schools out there, this is not one of them. They were dishonest during the initial application phase of the process and took a full deposit prior to us touring the place, only to later disclose that this was non-refundable. Note that I'm not the only one that's had this experience, there are other reviews from their various locations with a similar issue. Inept bureaucracy aside, I'll share why we chose to not send our kids here. Location: This place is right under the freeway. The outdoor area is load and smells of exhaust, with the 680 freeway passing just overhead. Ratio: 8 kids to 1 teacher is just barely adequate. You're not getting a lot of quality instructions with that type of ratio. Expect basic supervision. The Space: Is adequate. Montessori is about more than just having a low sink and low toilet. The space isn't as clean as it should be and there is much more clutter compared to a true Montessori school. read more

FMS has been god blessing for my family. We moved from the east coast during pandemic and only FMS Dublin campus was open full time. It was our first introduction to Montessori education. Within a year, my kids thrived in there due to its unique approach and personalized learning. We made a silly mistake to put kids in public school system and it was difference of day and night. My kids who were ahead of peers were getting bored in public school where teachers would tell them to wait till other kids catch up. We then decided to move out the younger one who could still go to primary section and put him in Danville Campus. My younger one is a tough, head strong kid who believes in my way or highway! Ms Hadas, Ms Amy and Ms Samar are gem of a teachers, who not only gave my kiddo their attention but also helped nurture his thinking by letting him express himself. My child came down with severe allergies and I was not sure of how to tackle it. Ms Hadas directed me towards seeking doctor's help to diagnose the problem and also create a plan for the days when my child's allergies would be worse. They would keep him indoors, call me to give an update, engage him with Spanish or music so that he won't feel left out! Ms Amy's science lessons and daily book reading are his favorite! This 5 year old free spirit who wouldn't listen to me is now reading independently and can do multiplication. I am now a big Montessori fan plus I keep begging FMS to open a Montessori k-12 school! So if you are looking for Montessori school then you must visit and see Fountainhead school, Danville. read more

When my husband and I were searching for pre-schools for our daughter when we moved to Alamo in April, we read the negative reviews on this site and we're a little hesitant about enrolling our daughter even though we liked the school when we visited. After having been there for 8 months now, I can say - this is a great pre-school! The hours are great and the tuition is really flexible. The teachers are outstanding and our daughter is learning a lot (even Spanish). We were very nervous moving her out of a very well regarded pre-school in Oakland when we moved, but I am so happy we landed here. Really disappointed in myself for not listening to the warnings about this place. Everyone seems to have a bad story about FMS. Read reviews for their other locations. After evacuating our home during the wildfires, we gave them our bank info over the phone for a deposit for our three children since we didn't have our checkbook. Less than 24 hours later we decided things were too uncertain to complete our application and commit to a preschool for our three boys. The executive director refused to refund our $2400 deposit despite the fact that the paperwork wasn't even complete, it was within a day, and we never even visited the school. It's a good lesson on what kind of school they are. Very shady people. read more

Both my kids go to fountainhead and we love it. My kids are really happy and they miss it during holidays. In particular the current site manager and teacher is extremely nice and very understanding. All the teachers were very supportive of my son who was diagnosed with autism. They were extremely patient with him during his potty training and kept encouraging him and educating me about positive discipline and positive reinforcement. Ok, so I realize I am a huge dork for writing a review on my preschool, and probably a ton of things have changed since I went there (I'm 25...so it was quite a while ago), but I do have extremely happy memories of the place and for that alone it deserves praise. My older brother and sister have very negative feelings about the preschool they were placed in as kids (not Fountainhead) so it does matter! From what little I remember the teachers at Fountainhead were very hands on, patient, kind and respectful to the children. You learned basic interaction skills and discipline (no yelling for teacher, you had to wait until they were done with whomever they were speaking to), lots of creative/art-based projects (for instance, paint you could step in your barefeet and then walk on parchment), respect for other children (every student had a name tag they could leave at their "workstation" and that was the sign that other kids couldn't mess with your stuff), lots of music and use of foreign languages (counting mostly and nursery rhyme songs). They've expanded a lot over the years, but every time I go visit my folks, I see smiling kids leaving that place, so my bet is it's still a great place to be a preschooler. Plus, the whole Montessori method is pretty rad and still ahead of its time. read more

It seems like most parents don't understand what Montessori really means because so many other schools out there misuse the term. As a parent it is our job to educate ourselves to know that the Montessori method encourages children to explore for his or herself and learn independently. They are demonstrated things and then they are encouraged to do things at their curiosity and pace. This method is not about having a teacher or any other adult force something down a child's throat. Fountainhead is encouraging a child to come into his/her own and flourish into his/her own person. When it comes to this campus, I could not be more happy that I found this place. It is by no means over-priced when you consider how much other schools charge you to have your kids run around and do nothing or watch TV. Another school we looked at plopped children in front of TV on Fridays for 1-2 hours and still was going to charge us much more than Fountainhead. I love that my children are learning to put things away, clean up and speak up for themselves. The school is reinforcing everything we teach at home. You will have behavioral challenges at school and at home, but the school director is willing to work with you and keep you informed of all things. You have to be involved, keep the lines of communication open, and know that you're working as a team with the school not against them. Every teacher I have met at Fountainhead has only had every child's best interest at heart and I love that I can see that. I am grateful for this school and hope more people take the time to discover this gem and invest in its success. So far we have sent 4 of our children to this school starting back in 2012. We have had nothing but the best experiences at this location. The current staff is attentive, loving and have many years of experience working with young children. Yes, a few years back there was some turn over and yes we were sad when the TK/Kindergarten teacher retired after many years. But we are blessed to have Ms. Marti fill her shoes. We have also know Ms. Samar since she starting and we are so fortunate that she has been able to have each of our 4 older children come through her class. I have read reviews from parents saying this school was not a good fit for their child, yes this is a Montessori school. There are set expectations for child's behavior, just as you will find at any preschool. I believe that over the years my children have learned to become more responsible, empathetic and disciplined as a result of their time at FH. And we are grateful for that. A couple years ago we chose to put our 5 year old in TK at a public school (as she qualified and it was free). However, looking back and comparing experiences I wish we had kept her at Fountainhead for that extra year. As for academics all of my kids have been beyond ready to attend public school. My daughter in particular who has a May birthday is always the youngest in her class and academically she is right up there with the top students. All 4 of my kids love going to school, love their teachers, love being with their friends and doing their "works." I believe a love for learning and education starts young and we are grateful that we chose this school as their introduction to education. This school has worked out so well for us and we will be happy to enroll our 5th kid when he turns 2. read more

My daughter has attended for two years (2-4 years old). We absolutely love Fountainhead! Our daughter has learned so much with the Montessori method. We appreciate how children are taught manners and conflict resolution. When you visit the campus you will see children engaged in their work by themselves or working with others in a quiet atmosphere The director, Samar, is wonderful. There have been many safety improvements recently with the addition of the "fob" entry doors. This allows only those with the fob to enter. The teachers are caring and consistent. My daughter has been a student at FMS since January 2018. We moved across the country & she could not have been more warmly welcomed into her new school than she was at FMS. She started in the 2-year-old room but the teachers quickly perceived she could be moved up to the next classroom & is now in the traditional 3-6 year-old room. She is already sounding out all of her letters & doing math at age 4. The teachers truly individualize their instruction to each child while also encouraging independence. My two kids, who are 9 and 5, both attended Fountainhead. I loved this school when my daughter attended about 4 years ago. We were saddened when she entered public school as it did not compare to the breadth of education she received at Fountainhead. Those days are no more. This school has become more about the profit and less about the children and families. The teacher turnover has become appalling. The school is laying off its most experienced, most beloved teachers. The Danville campus just let go its pre-K/kindergarten teacher. She, alone, was reason to go to this school. And now, she is not there. As another reviewer mentioned, the school does still have wonderful teachers. But beware, they may not last. The school also was once very accommodating for the working parent's schedule. This too is no longer the case. For holidays, they ask you to reserve the dates and times you need. However, they do not accommodate the dates and times you request. Furthermore, if you miss a day, they charge you more. There was one week where my son was ill; I called the school to notify them that he would not attend, and I was informed that we would be charged. My son ended up having to stay out the entire week. So as not to be charged an exorbitant amount of money for care that we were not using, either my husband or I (whoever was not watching our son that day) would drive out of our way to the school before going to work to clock him in and then right back out. It took 4 days of doing this before the school said that we would not have to come in on Friday to avoid the charge. It's unfortunate that I can no longer recommend this school. It was once a great school. However, if I were to enroll my child in preschool now, I would not choose Fountainhead. read more

There are 3 main complaints with this school: 1) High Staff Turnover: At least 5 teachers or extended teachers have left in the last couple of years. Typically, it has been the most experienced and beloved. Families see the teacher one day, the next they are gone. This had had a negative impact on my son as he has come home all to often asking where a teacher or extended day teacher went and why they aren't coming back. 2) Constant billing issues: In addition to the high teacher turn over, the billing is a nightmare. Despite multiple calls to the main office, and speaking directly with accounts receivable, even they couldn't explain why the monthly bill was different each month. At one point, we were told there would be no change to our bill, only to be charged an additional $3,000 the next month. When asked about this, they said they changed our schedule and that was the new rate. 3) Last minute changes to hours: In advance of holidays, Fountainhead sends out a survey requesting patents to list the times needed over a holiday break. Families enter the times, only to be told 2 days before that the requested times won't be offered. Here is the extra catch, once you sign up you can't YOUR schedule. You are charged $30 per day if you change. Here is an example, you sign up for 7am-5:30 each day of the holiday week through the survey, 3 weeks before the holiday. The Wednesday before the holiday week they tell you the hours are going to be 9am-5pm. If you find alternative care for your child that meets your schedule needs, they charge you that $30 daily rate for not showing up. There are still amazing teachers at the school, however given the way the school is mismanaged, I would NOT recommend it. read more

I stopped by this preschool because I really needed to use the bathroom but did not know the area so I asked one of the staff if I could use theirs. A teacher was kind enough to let me use it after asking for my ID. The place was gated. After she checked my ID she told me to go straight toward the glass door where another teacher was standing near by and she let me in after verifying . They were really friendly and courteous and that definitely left a lasting impression of the place. My impression is that it is very clean, spacious and seem like a healthy learning environment for younger kids and the staffs were really nice! read more

My previous post has disappeared and my child mentioned something last night about their experience here so I thought it was important to share.... I think this school will either work for you or won't it's as simple as black and white. If your child fits what the staff wants them to do then it will work. Your child has to be a self motivator if not they will do the same thing over and over and not be prepared for school... We did not see progress as preached in interviews. For us we moved on far to late and we are working on catching up now -however something must be said for a child still to have ill words about a place some 3 years later.... Also was hard to transition to other schools as children really don't have to follow "rules" and do as teacher say's - also "no holiday" celebrations read more

My son just started Kindergarten and I have realized how unprepared he was going to Fountainhead for two years. This Montessori was all about the individual so if he wanted to do work in building or cars all day he could and its not very structured. Kindergarten is structured and very academic, especially at private schools. I do not feel he was academically prepared to start kindergarten and he is struggling now. I chose this school mainly for the flexible hours they have, which is great for moms, but looking back not a great choice for my son!. read more
