Highly recommend if you need an urgent care. We came here after a ski injury for my son. They were fast, thorough, got him splinted up and on the way. The Dr was kind, and had good bedside manner. He has kids of his own and was really good w mine. The hospital radiologist was unable to read the X-rays, so we did have to do another set once home, but my son was finally comfortable for the travel home which was key. check-in online before you go! read more

We had a positive experience being from out town and unexpectedly getting sick. We thought most of it was due to altitude. We made a online reservation & completed our insurance forms, which makes the process so much more efficient . Not expose anyone else unnecessarily. Reception was friendly . Dr B. Payne and her nurse which I wish I would have gotten her name (she was a endurance runner!) were so friendly and truly receptive to listening to our description of our symptoms taking all the precautions and extra tests and services They do go above and beyond . I went to another Urgent Care as on my Humana insurance it was listed as a provider. Well got to that one, then was told it was a mistake on Humanas site. They are not a provider for Humana. The receptionist there said check with Durango Urgent care. I called and they accept it! Now at this one I would have had to CASH pay $194 just to get seen and $168 for x rays! Rip off ! So off I went to Durango Urgent Care. I only had to wait maybe 1/2 hour to 45 minutes to get seen. The PA was very effective and very nice. X-ray tech not to friendly but I got my X-ray taken of my foot. So thankfully not broken just a contusion. Put my mind at ease. So yeas highly recommend this Urgent Care ! read more

The PA Amanda Kiessel SAVED me by giving me a second opinion. I had gone to a different urgent care in Telluride two days prior for a high fever, body aches and was diagnosed with a virus. I was on vacation far away from my home in Western NY, so having an unabating fever was especially scary. When my fever got even worse two days later, I decided I needed to see another medical provider. Upon meeting me and listening to my symptoms and my hometown of Western NY, Amanda came to the conclusion of Lyme Disease and prescribed me antibiotics. THIS SAVED ME! Her diagnosis was correct, which was later confirmed by my PCP in NY. My symptoms went away within 48-hours of doxycycline and I am now on the mend with additional prescribed medication for Lyme. Without Amanda's diagnosis, I would have gotten progressively sicker and maybe even entered into the stage of chronic Lyme with long-term problems. So grateful to Amanda and the staff in Durango for taking me seriously! read more

We attempted to have my daughter seen by an urgent care doctor and went to FOUR different places at our home in Scottsdale, AZ before we called this place-- I know-- 7 hours away. We were expected to leave for a ski vacation in Durango, CO and wanted to have her seen about the fevers she had been running on and off for 7 days. Nope. So... we got in the car and went on our ski vacation anyway. First stop, Durango Urgent Care. We wanted to rule out a bacterial issue, and they did just that. Sure enough, she didn't run a fever for the rest of our trip. We arrived at 5:15 and weren't seen until 7:15, but the place was fairly full and we had expected such an issue. Really, has anyone ever just popped into an urgent care facility and been seen immediately? RARE. I can't dock them on time in waiting, because these places are notorious for that. The people were fine and the doctor did just what we wanted him to do-- check urine for bacteria. We finally had piece of mind and were able to enjoy our week in the mountains. The name "Urgent Care" is a misnomer. Even though there were only two people in the waiting room when I arrived, (and this was on Thursday, not a weekend) the wait time was over 45 minutes. Thankfully, my condition wasn't life threatening, but it could have been an issue for someone who was in need of immediate attention. In addition, the receptionist seemed less than thrilled to be working. People who are in an urgent care situation could use a little compassion, not a greeting by someone who seems as though they are being bothered to check you in. Male physician treated me quite rudely. I went in for severe chest pains, and the first thing he did was joke about me being a paranoid stoner (I had smoked once a week before). Shortly after he gave me Pepto Bismal and sent me on my way. A few days later I collapsed and was sent to the ER, and it certainly wasn't for heartburn or having smoked pot once in the past month. I'm not sure if he didn't take me seriously because I'm a woman or because I had smoked. The misdiagnosis wouldn't have been nearly as big of a deal if I had been treated with respect. I'd try Animas Urgent Care before going here again. read more

I'm visiting family from out of town, and had symptoms of a UTI. I was here a few minutes before they opened, and called from the parking lot. They were all incredibly friendly and helpful, and I was in and out within 1 hour with a prescription called in. Thanks to all of the staff for making this process as smooth and quick as possible. If I could give them 0 stars I would. note to anyone who has been assaulted they will refuse to give you medical help. I went to take my daughter who thought she had a broken nose and had been having issues with bloody nose. I filled the paperwork out waited for my daughter to arrive who is already feeling horrible about the issue. I was there 30 minutes. The whole time I waited no one came out to say they couldn't see her. They waited until she got there to say they were refusing her service. When I grabbed her papers to leave they yelled across the lobby don't be rude. No one was being rude. Their actions were very unprofessional. read more

We're here on vacation and my girlfriend fell while hiking. Her knee was very swollen and scraped up so we went over to the Durango Urgent Care. They were very nice and friendly there and get her in very quickly. I think we were in and out in about an hour which was very quickly in todays world. After accidentally falling off a cliff head first and having my head stick the landing, we rushed to Durango Urgent Care. They took me immediately, cleaned my wounds and comforted me in a calm, personable way. They were slammed with patients, but bandaged me to ebb the bleeding as I awaited stitches. By far the best Urgent Care around! Everyone was so kind and accommodating. I needed to be seen quickly, as I felt terrible. After I called, they got me in as soon as they could and gave me several tests. They found out what the problem was and got me all taken care of. My daughter went in the next day to get a test done, and came home telling me how nice everyone was. This was a completely different experience from another Urgent Care in town. Other than a great doctor there, their staff is rude and unaccommodating. I will be going to Durango Urgent Care from now on. read more

I have a pretty serious concern about the care provided here. I was waiting to be seen and over heard the employees talking about what a provider is aloud to do. the provider was talking with the employees about a practice that he was wanting to perform and the employee was trying to explain that it's not somthing they should do and the provider stated her could perform it no problem after reading about it. Anothe person started talking (a lady with dark hair that was short and thin) she stated that as long as it does not hurt the patient a provider could practice how they want. I am very concerned about this. Just because you can read a practice and probably perform it does not mean it's ok. If it is not a well practiced scope you shouldn't just do what you want just because your a provider. We follow what the CDC says is safe. Even if it does not hurt the pt does not mean you should just do whatever you want read more

We were on vacation from Prescot AZ. visiting my son and his family at Lake Purgatory. The first night there I started running a fever with other symptoms related to Covid so I went in to this facility to get checked out.I must say that i recieved a level of care that rivaled the Mayo Clinic we use in Scottsdale AZ. The first person I saw was an awesome young woman named Olivia Cappetta EMT-3. Very knowledgeable and thorough. I actually thought she was the Doctor :). The next person a saw was Susanna Young N.P. another awesome care provider!! She explained exactly what she wanted to do if I tested positive for COVID in regards to an antiviral that has had good results. She gave me a prescription cough suppressant and a prescription sore throat mixture that helped ease these symptoms. Any OTC medicine wasn't working at all. Our vacation was ruined due to being infected with Covid , we both had been vaccinated, but meeting these women gave me renewed confidence in the heathcare system and the future of it. I will never forget it this experience. I'm 67 years old so this isn't my first rodeo with an urgent care. My advice to you is give them both a substantial raise and keep them around. Michael J. We spend our summers in Durango; our regular doctors are in CA. Friends had recommended we use this Urgent Care if we ever needed it. And we did, last Saturday. We were immediately greeted by the front desk and in less time than it took us to fill out the simple paperwork we were being called to be seen by the Medical Assistant. This isn't somewhere I was planning to visit on our family's vacation, but life doesn't always go as planned and I am so glad this place was here! I ended up here on a Sunday morning two days before my wedding with a terrible reaction to an antibiotic prescribed by my doctor at home for an abcess. I came in here, they were all so kind, professional and attentive. Not only did they change up my medicine and take care of the abcess, but the doctor took the time to explain what she was doing and why. Since I moved to Durango two years ago, I haven't gotten a primary care physician yet but I have come to Durango Urgent Care a few times and almost every time I hardly have any wait and if there is one I fill everything out and come back and they get me right in! It's definitely one of the most efficient Urgent Cares (or even doctors offices) I've ever been to! I highly recommend it. read more

Awful experience. Spent over 2 hours here for an injury I've had for nearly two months that won't seem to heal. The entire surrounding area is in excruciating pain. Saw someone (not a doctor, I believe) named Janelle, who spoke to me for less than 5 mins total, ordered an x-ray, and when it came back negative, dismissed my pain as residual bruising and sent me on my way. She said, "Since the x-ray came back negative, there is literally nothing else I can do for you here." She told me if I was "really" in that much pain, it might be a blood clot and I could go (wait hours longer and spend hundreds of dollars) to the ER for an ultrasound. Or I could "try an orthopedist" (which I already have and couldn't get in for months, hence why I was here). She did not offer to refer me anywhere to see this through, not for an ultrasound, or an orthopedist, or even just a regular doctor who could help me. (As a side note, it isn't particularly respectful to repeatedly address your 30something patient as "young lady".) read more

While visiting Durango my husband and I rode the narrow gauge railroad. Great trip, but I got a cinder in my eye enroute. Instead of getting better, it got very bad overnight and by morning I could barely open my eye and was in great pain. We were first through the door the next morning and were taken care of immediately. Nurse Pamela immediately numbed my eye to my great relief. Then PA-C (Physician's Assistant) Mike Guillette got the cinder out of my eye in just a minute or so and the problem was solved. He gave me a prescription to prevent infection and we were out the door around 9:30. My eye hasn't bothered me since. From the front desk to the medical administrative staff I couldn't be happier with the quality of my care. And a special shout out to both Pamela and Mike--they were just great putting me at ease while they took care of me. read more

This place is great! We spend half the year in Durango and have had to use Durango Urgent Care a few times. Not your typical urgent care. Hardly any wait time, it's very clean, the staff is amazing and seem highly qualified and I've never had any surprise charges pop up after our visit. I've never felt like we were just another patient- it's actually a very family oriented business. Highly recommend to those who need a check up for many things. read more
