Holy cow, this place is FANTASTIC! I used to come here back in 2012, when I lived in UC. I moved away, but stop by here whenever I visit SA. The other day, the owner Sandra recognized me from over ten years ago!!! Literally ten.years. She was just as friendly as ever. I was so surprised! I still crave their Bahn Mi, roast beef, pretzel rolls, lime bars, and beer cheese soup but everything here is delicious and made from scratch. Check them out, you won't be disappointed! Really nice people working at both the restaurant and the bakery. Unfortunately I did not enjoy the banh mi I didn't expect authentic but it is a highly regarded bakery and the bread was not great. It was not toasted, unlike we are used to in a banh mi. I ate 3 or 4 bites and that's it. I am sad we wasted our only San Antonio meal on this sandwich. They had a certificate inside that said best in San Antonio. Maybe it was an off day. I would try something else another time. read more

We went around 1115 and they were already out of a lot, so go early! We got snickerdoodles, chocolate chunk cookies and pumpkin bread pudding. My husband gave his cookies a 3/5, but my bread pudding (when heated) was an easy 4.5 so we went with a 4 overall. We'll definitely go earlier next time so we have more options. If you're looking for a bountiful, yet tasty banh mi sandwich, this is your place. The marinated pork is very flavorful and very tender. The baguette that it's served on is fresh and tasty. The only thing I'd recommend changing about this banh mi is to not include such a heaping mound of the pickled carrots. Pickled carrots are just as crucial to a banh mi sandwich as the sliced pork is and the two make an awesome and tasty combination. However, the sandwich at Four Kings just comes with way too many shredded carrots. I ended up removing about half of them so I could taste the wonderful flavor of the pork. It was an easy fix, so I'd order another one of these in the future. Friendly staff and they keep the place clean. They seem to rotate the menu offerings, so check back with them often. read more

Tasty sandwich! Friendly staff! I live in Converse and was doing my laundry across the street one Sunday. I took a walk while rugs spun in the dryer and found Four Kings. It sounded familiar and I felt like a friend drove me there many years ago when I was newer to San Antonio. Maybe it reminded me of some other place. Either way, I made it back the next week and enjoyed the sandwich special, a pork loin sandwich with raspberry-chipotle jam. It was great! I saw a brand of potato chip I'd never tried and those were a win as well. Overall, an enjoyable experience. It's far from work, and they run short hours, but I'll definitely be back when I can. It's nestled in a sketchy, run-down strip mall area, but the inside is nice enough. The people are all very nice and the food comes out quickly. I have a coworker that loves this place so we go probably once a month. The food is fine. It's not great, it's not bad. I have had the Bahn Mi, the Roast Beef, the Italian, and a couple of their random sandwiches. I've never been wowed by any of them. The last time I went, I picked up their Roast Beef and it basically turned into mush as I was eating it. The bun disintegrated. This hidden jewel is my favorite spot over Panera Bread for sandwiches and salads. My favorite salad is the Greek salad and the portions size is the best for the price. Saw this restaurant on Yelp. Greeted at counter by a hostess, perhaps owner (?), but it wasn't clear what the process was for ordering. The Banh mi was really good. The baguette it was on was just perfection and all the flavors in the sandwich came together so well. There was a long line at around noon but it went by quickly and we weren't sitting too long when my name was called that my order was ready. Definitely plan to come back and enjoy another Banh mi and other sandwiches. The baguette alone makes me want to try all the sandwiches here.
