They were fantastic to work with, never pressuring us and helping us find the perfect dog after months of meeting different puppies. Unfortunately, our perfect little boy passed away due to an unforeseen health condition despite meticulous health records and documentation. We don't regret purchasing him one bit as the time we had with him was absolutely amazing. Furthermore, after finding out about our loss, Four Paws and a Tail offered to give us another free puppy of our choice without us even asking for support or reimbursement. I live close to this location in NorthTown Shopping Center. From what I have seen in this location is that the dogs are mis handled. The cages that the puppies and kittens always have poop in them and they are not cleaned out regularly. Meaning the the animals have to walk on their poop and live in bad living conditions. And the puppies and kittens are left without food and water. The puppies and kittens are also very high price. The animals are cute but need to be kept clean and fed and watered. I would give this place zero stars as I could. read more

Please do not buy overpriced puppies from this place. They get them from puppy mills, I got a Pom/Bichon here 4 years ago and I love him to death, but he has problems. He was crammed in a fish tank crate and was sleeping to himself when I asked for him, I had already seen him online and knew I wanted him. He went into my arms and I held him like a baby and he just kept on trusting me because he knew he was finally okay. Look at the photos and prices of this place, the puppies eyes don't look right. They are always some sort of mix as well. Big keys to puppy mills. I know we want to save them but this just isn't right. Please don't support this place, even though you have a huge heart. I feel so bad for the little ones stuck at this store. I would buy them all, just to save them from their life in a box but, they would just be replaced. I got my dog, Milo about 3 years ago from here. He was clearly abused when I got him. After years, he still won't eat out of a dish (only off the floor), he either runs away or tries to bite me if any loud noises occur, he also doesn't chew any of his food or treats. I was looking for a puppy and came across the listing of puppies at the pet store Four Paws and a Tail. One puppy was really of interest so we went to the pet shop to see him. There were a number of breeds there so I ended up looking at a number of the puppies before deciding on Bently, a Morkie. I took into consideration the overall condition of the puppies, the personality of Bently, the cleanliness of the pens, and customer support in making my decision. I was given advise regarding care verbally and in written form . Because especially small puppies can have hypoglycemic episodes if not provided adequate nutrition they stressed the importance thereof. Extra puppy food was provided at no additional cost and I was given paperwork that included information regarding DOB, breeder info, etc. Bently had been vet checked and the various vaccinations he had received as well as treatment for Kennel cough were noted. It also stated a grade I patella slip which was confirmed by my vet. Bently, was obviously a healthy, happy, busy puppy when I got him and has continued to flourish. In fact, he is playing constantly with the other dog in the house and I'll add he's smart ie. quickly learned about using the paper to potty I wouldn't hesitate to purchase another pup from this store and I appreciate the information and support provided by staff. read more

What a difference a year and a half makes. My husband and I decided to look at a second Yorkie from this store after buying our first a year and a half ago. We called ahead to make sure the puppy we were interested in was still available. After driving for over an hour we arrived in good spirits. We entered the store and were the only customers. No one greeted us or even acknowledged our presence. There were puppies running around in a pen area in the middle of the store. One of them looked to be the Yorkie we came to see so we picked him him up. As we were trying to figure out if he was indeed the one....an employee abruptly appeared in front of me and grabbing him from my arms said "they HAVE to stay on the floor!!!". I replied "We are wondering if this is the Yorkie we came to see"? She replied again very rudely "This is the only Morkie we have AND they HAVE to stay on the floor!!!" She then stomped around picking up puppies from the pen and tossing them back into their display cases. We asked where the Yorkie was....it is unbelievable at this point that they did not want to help us. We even called ahead to let them know we were coming.... She pointed to a row of display cases which we went towards. There we saw two more employees and when they saw us one of them said " You cannot be back here!". That made three negative comments from employees within minutes of entering the store. I replied with "Can we get some help?" We were ushered Into a small area with a slippery floor and a bench. Last time we were able to take the puppy into a very large area of the mall. The puppy was brought to us and set on the floor. We were told he had to stay on the floor AGAIN! I asked "since when"? She said "since forever". I pointed out that we purchased a puppy from here 11/2 years ago and they did not have a rule like that. So now they have rude and lying employees. We spent an hour with the puppy. We were given 2 toys to interact with him 45 minutes into the visit. The puppy had a deformed ear, which was strategically kept out of the pictures, and an overbite. They also informed us he was diagnosed with Luxating patella...when I asked if it was both knees she made sure to correct me and say bilateral....which is exactly what both sides means. The puppy had been discounted but not enough for a puppy with knee issues, an overbite and a deformed ear. We left without the puppy. At this point I have to agree with what other people are saying. Perhaps the new owner no longer cares what kind of breeders he gets the puppies from or how his customers are treated. read more

We bought our little love, Oliver, from here. He was clean and seemed well cared for when we purchased him. However, when we brought him home he crashed because he refused to eat. I took him to Murray Animal Hospital (the store recommended vet) and he was hypoglycemic due to not eating. Murray Animal got him stable and sent him home with us with a strict feeding schedule. I contacted Four Paws and a Tail and they gave us several options, including exchanging him for another puppy. We chose to keep him. 4paws covered his vet bills without question, offered help him settle in and suggestions to get him eating again and were all around fantastic to work with! I would definitely purchase from them again! Oliver is now eating well (with no unusual eating restrictions or hypoglycemia), happy, playful and spoiled rotten! read more

I went here to get a puppy after trying endlessly to adopt a rescue. The number of hoops that one has to jump through in order to adopt a foundling are tiresome. From applications to in-home "interviews" to simply see or meet a puppy; by the time one is "approved", the puppy desired has already been adopted. I love Four Paws, for the ease and convenience of acquiring a companion. All the protesters can eat spotted dick. If they are so worried about rescues, then they should adopt them. Absolutely AWFUL!!! If I could give a negative amount of stars I would. They are liars...Do not get your dog or cat here!! I purchased a "Pomsky" (Pomeranian & Husky mix) here last October. Everything was labeled as a Pomsky, even my contract says both of my dog's parents were Pomsky. Well after months of watching her grow, we're realizing she's getting too big and doesn't really have characteristics of a Pomeranian at all. We take a dog DNA test and our dog is ~90% Siberian Husky and ~10% CHOW CHOW! On average this breed of dog costs $300!!!! I paid close to $2500!!!!! Edited to add: four paws contacted me and this is covered by warranty, if you have a vet personally write a letter stating your dog's breed is not the one listed in adoption documents. Seems easy enough, right? WRONG! This is not something any vet will do, trust me, I've called around. I'm positive this is why four paws used it as a clause in their warranty. I'll keep it short so people who want a quick summary of my experience. My girlfriend and I went there to look at puppies. There was a new breed of American Eskimo puppies. They looked very cute and playful. We sat down and played with all three. They had white coats but were covered in pee all around so came off to look yellow! The majority of them smelt horrible with poop, they also had it on their feet and behind. It was extremely sad and when I went to take a picture before leaving they yelled "stop" at me and then kicked us out and said we couldn't be up from them. Not to mention while we were playing with the puppies the worker watching us wouldn't stop asking if we were going to buy one which felt like a joke and was appalling due to the state of the puppies, unfortunately. Such a shame that dogs have to be put through this and be used for what they are to make a profit from the ridiculous prices they charge. After: After having piss poor results from the place my girlfriend and I bought a well bred and treated Pomsky puppy from Pennsylvania. They drove it to Minnesota for us and has been the best dog ever being almost 1 year old now! She has not been sick once yet and is an amazing and happy dog who we couldn't be happiier with knowing we didn't support the cruel practices witnessed from this disguised puppy mill. So here is a quick update just because it have been a few months since I got Kilow. He is healthy and happy. I took him to the vet and thankfully yet kinda a like scary the vet said the breeder amped him up on LOADS of infection prevention shots and illness prevention shots which (luckily for me then I didn't have to pay for the first round or two of those shots) (just sorry my puppy was poked so much but it just means the breeder wanted him to STAY HEALTHY when he was among all the other puppies coming from various breeders and didn't want his puppies to get sick or die) I went to Banfield to do his shots and checkups and cool fact in the monthly puppy payment plan they do a wisdom panel (genealogy) for puppies and so I had Kilow tested and TURNS OUT he had mini poodle in him too!! Which explains the CURLYYYYY HAAIIIRRR!!!! Ahhhhhh he had his first hair cut and he is a curl ball (insert photo) but I am still happy with purchasing my puppy the ONLY thing I will say I hated was the loan option they offered with Duvera (I forget what it's called at the store) but the loan option was terrible if your plan was to just make the minimum payments until it's paid off. The interest rate is.... wait for this.... it is... 151%!!!!!!!!! Which means your monthly $75 payment is literally paying like $10 off the principle and the rest is paying interest!!! Terrible!!! You're better off opening a new credit card and paying that off than using their loan options. Hopefully they fix that in the future because I think it was a fun and easy store as well as an easy process to get Kilow. In the future (If they are still open because we all know how that's going in MN to keep actual pet stores open) I do plan on using them again or referring friends/family their way. read more

I wanted to believe that this place was decent. I had been searching online for a kitten for months and tried to adopt, but was met with so many roadblocks and unanswered e mails. On a whim, I stopped into this place to look for a kitten. There was only one kitten in the entire place and he was in a display case with a puppy. When I was able to hold him, he was very calm and shy, which seemed normal considering how busy the place was with people. A couple hours after I had left, I decided to go back and buy the little fella. $660 later, I had myself a new Siamese ragdoll kitten. I was told that he had been treated for conjunctivitis, but that he was perfectly healthy and was given the vet report. The next day I scheduled an appointment with my vet to keep their return policy/warranty valid. Well, when I brought my new kitten in to my vet, she noticed that my kitten was bow legged, had tiny eyes and a heart murmur, none of which was notated from the vet the pet store used. He also still had conjunctivitis, which I needed more medication for. Not only does my kitten have dwarfism, he might not live as long as other kitties and he may have a whole bunch of health problems because of these undisclosed issues. And because he was sick when I bought him, he also got my other kitty sick, and they are still battling sneezes 6 weeks later. I believe that every pet deserves a home, but if the pets have health issues be up front about it so we can make the decision on whether or not to purchase from you or from somewhere else. I wish there were I way I could have purchased my kitty from somewhere else so I hadn't supported this pet store. I'm glad I bought him, in some ways I feel I still saved him, but I really hope the "reputable breeders" are stopped. read more

Researched and proven to be from puppy mills. We thought it was a great place until our dog died immediately after purchase. No the vets don't do all the correct panel of tests. If you did get lucky enough to get a healthy dog - you are probably in love with your furry family. However, If you had the experience we had you might see this puppy mill store front as a painful uncaring costly place with no recourse. The owner doesn't stand by his sick dogs. He bullied us to go away in this painful time to keep our money. He left us hanging with a huge expense both in purchases and vet bills. Horrific experience for our family. This place is horribly sad to walk into and look at all the depressed puppies. They do not have adequate space to run around and play and are constantly sitting around in their own waste. The socialization they get is very little considering there are no toys in their tiny enclosures or much human interaction. The prices are honestly ridiculous considering you know NOTHING of the parents' health, age, or size. Any good breeder would show you information on the parents of the puppies and have them on site but this place simply won't answer questions about where they come from. I bought a papillon puppy from this store a few years ago. When I bought him he seemed a little lethargic and vomited several times on the way home. I noticed he had dried feces in his coat and was in desperate need of a bath. I took him in for his complementary vet exam and found out he had kennel cough and his skull hadn't completely formed after he was born. I won't be buying anything from this store again. For many years I have struggled with mental health disorders and after a serious incident I knew it was time for me to get an emotional support dog. They had always been my life line and kept me in a positive place. We found this place and were told by store employees this place had gotten their puppies from reputable places. We found out too late that that was not at all the case. I met my beautiful baby boy, Charlie, here March 22nd 2018. He was the sweetest cavalier puppy I had ever met. I took him home and loved him more than some people in my family. He was my child. It wasn't long after that he started to have some health problems. He would vomit and have diarrhea quite frequently. I took him to the vet EVERY single time he was sick to make sure nothing was wrong. It wasn't until he passed we determined he had been born with the health problems and we couldn't have done anything if we had tried. He passed away March 15th 2019, exactly a week before we would have had him for one year. I was so devastated, I felt like part of my heart was missing. I did everything I could for him but his parents were not healthy, as they came from a puppy mill, and there was nothing I could do to help him. I would give this place zero stars if I could because they ripped my baby away from me. I hope that this place gets shut down. How could someone be so cruel as to keep these animals in these conditions? My poor sweet baby is gone and I hope no one goes through that pain again. This place is terrible all of you have bought puppy mills puppies so if you want to know what your doing google puppy mills . I have rescued over a dozen those puppies moms and dads . Most of them don't even make it rescue because they are so sick or they kill them and move on to more breeding dogs. The dogs sit in their own filth for years no socializing and stuck in cages. I adopted mine and he didn't even know what outside was and scared of people still ! They spray water at them and throw them in and out of cages . This store is getting these mills dogs for some sources in Mn and Iowa and others . They are lie about it when you ask them . I've lived in Blaine all my life and Anger at the store and mall they been doing this for years since I worked there as a teenager . Please make them stop they would be better off if they had rescue events there ! More people know about this and go spend money at pet store who only host rescues . First off, I'm not a huge fan of buying from a breeder, but rather rescuing pups that desperately need homes - however, before criticizing this store, understand there are many people who desire a specific breed and size of dog due to certain restrictions/needs at home. We adopted it a Maltese from here as an emotional support dog for my child. Milo is the absolute best puppy in the world. The dogs at the store are well cared for and loved. They are clean and let out of their cages often to have free run of the store so they get lots of exercise. The owner went out of his way to find the dog that fit our needs. We came here to purchase the dog and move him back to Arizona with us. At first, the puppy had a very common issue and was hypoglycemic. The owner took care of the vet bill 100% and made sure we were happy. Our puppy is a spoiled rotten and we are so in love with him! read more

Yes...pet stores pretty much get their puppies at puppy mills. I came across the pet store for the first time on Saturday and was very sad to see all these puppies in glass housings. Not cheap puppies either. There are so many dogs up for adoption out there that truly needs a home. Without being adopted they will eventually not make it. I know people will argue that shouldn't these puppies in the store deserve a home too? Yes they do, but in order to reduced the pet mill breeding, we need to stop pet stores demands of them. In order to do that we need to increase work on changing the laws on pet mills or at least for now boycott per stores that sell puppies and kittens. So please adopt and rescue! read more

Places like this shouldn't exist. I tried to ignore all the little faces when I went by but saw a little Havanese and went in to play with her. She was so sweet but definitely not clean. She smelled of pee and was kind of sticky. The dogs here don't have enough space to develop and socialize, and the employees aren't exactly knowledgeable and friendly. Definitely a puppy mill place. My girlfriend and I went here to get a puppy to be her emotional support dog. We met a litter of Cavaliers and took home a boy puppy that took to both of us. Shortly after bringing him home, he began having health issues. He would frequently vomit, typically more than once each day. He would have diarrhea frequently as well. We took him to the vet EACH and EVERY time he was sick until the vet knew us and him by name. We put him on a diet of prescription dog food to ensure any gastrointestinal issues wouldn't be upset by poor quality food. He was up to date on all of his shots. He tested negative for worms and for parasites. The vet informed us that he had a chronic stomach issue. How does this happen? Well, typically from parents that are not healthy. Our sweet boy died from this issue before he was 2 years old. We had shared happy times with him for less than a year before he passed away. This dog was truly a loved one for me on the level of my family. We loved him more than anything. I spoke to the Vice President of the Twin Cities Cavalier King Charles Spaniel Club about the situation. She informed me that they do not support this store, and in fact believe they source their dogs from a puppy mill as none of their breeders sell to this store. If none of the breeders certified by the professional organization in Minnesota dedicated specifically to Cavaliers you must ask, where are these puppies coming from? If not a single breeder with an AKC affiliation or relationship to the Twin Cities club supports this store, where are these puppies coming from? This store will sell you a puppy that you welcome into your life, to later find they are chronically ill and will have their sweet life soon cut short. I look forward to a reply from the owner, and wonder if he will insult me as a pet owner as he does with others that review his store. I notice that he refers to honest reviews with blatant disregard. I quote from his responses: "As part of an ongoing campaign to malign our store, we cannot in good faith accept your critical review as legitimate." Fascinating, that he only allows positive reviews and doesn't want people to read the experiences of those who brought home a sick puppy. We continue with his responses: "these false accusations are obvious." Other than poor sentence construction we should examine how he can't substantiate his position. He fails to prove his assertions that he is without blame and the many sick puppies must be the fault of the owner. If you argue you aren't guilty, while failing to provide evidence in addition to blaming others, we must question if this claim of innocence in example after example of sick puppies can be considered legitimate. Assertions without evidence illustrate a position of weakness, in this case a position that is false based on speaking to professionals in the field in regard to the health and source of his dogs. Perhaps he will question we took adequate care. To answer that I will be more than happy to provide all records of shots and vet visits to prove that we took excellent care of our boy. My hope in writing this review this review is to dissuade others from coming here, to prevent their heartbreak and to end these poor practices. My final hope is that the owner suffers the grief and pain we have. read more

I am always super disappointed when I stop in. There are far too many animals in each cage/enclosure. Tonight, there wasn't a single water bowl with water in it and fewer than half of the cages had food in the bowl. All of the puppies were scrambling over each other and the kittens were lethargic and sad looking. The prices are ridiculous and I can't imagine the animals are very well socialized. read more
