I should have sued them, I went to pick up my dogs after 1 week of being on vacation, they had both lost a lot of weight, and were dehydrated. I don't think they were feeding them or giving them water, they looked awful. I ended up having to take them to the vet and they had to get intervenous feeding they lost a lot of weight over that week and no water. This is a awful place and then later I had to put both dogs down because of their cruelty and incompetence. We had 2 dogs their and when I went to drop them off, they refused to let me go and see where they were going to be staying, stating that it would make the dogs confused. I see now why they didn't want me to go back there. This happened a few years back, i should have said or done something but I was too angry with them, and I might've lost my temper. If I could give them -100 I would. read more

The first two times we brought our dog in, it was fine. The third time, when I picked up my dog he had blood on him. His blankets were soaked in urine (he is a very well trained dog, so I am assuming they were just not letting him outside) and they had only given him half of his food that we had pre measured. When we got home there was a huge open wound on his tail. He was obviously in pain and did not want us to touch him. He had a couple of sores on his mouth. We called to complain and ask for a refund, and they refused despite openly admitting they were understaffed and over booked and that things just "fell through the cracks". Now I have to pay for his stay there, and vet bills to treat his wounds. I will never let my dog stay here again. I wish I had read more of the reviews before trusting this place with my pet. Update: Vet bills for his tail ended up being $320. He needed to be sedated because he was in so much pain and did not want anyone touching him. Hopefully he will be able to rest for a while now that he is home. read more

Because of his super hyper personality and his playful aggression with other dogs, he's been kicked out of 2 day care kennels facilities. It was frustrating thinking my baby couldn't belong anywhere; then a friend referred me to Four Paws Pet Resort and she mention me they said they think no dog is a bad dog you just need to pair them up with the right dogs and make me hopeful So I decided to give it a try. It's been about a year since Reign has been going to 4 Paws resort. He has finally found a second home and a place where I know he's safe and he's having fun playing with other friends. The staff is very friendly and they really get to know each dog as an individual and know what kind of environment they need to be in to feel safe and peaceful and the staff knows him as well as I do or probably know him better. We took our shepherds there for 2 days. While there 1 had a stroke. We were never notified. He was there suffering without our knowledge. When picked up we knew right away something was wrong. He was stumbling and hard to walk. Nobody still said anything to us!! Took to vet right away but he died the next morning. I'm still so heartbroken even though this was 2 years ago. The last time we dropped off our dog to board while we went on a cruise, I left with an uneasy feeling. I asked to see the exact kennel my dog would be staying in and they would not let me back there. Then when we went to pick him up, the two guys at the front desk were very unfriendly. I can't imagine taking my pup anywhere else. She has special needs. She's an older diabetic dog who needs insulin twice a day. She doesn't socialize well with other dogs. They all recognize her and take such good care of her. They adjust to meet her needs. Plus, Kim does a fantastic job grooming. They're fantastic!!!! read more

We took our dog there in 2010. When we got there they told us they had an issue with kennel cough. Had they informed us of this prior to our arrival, we would have made arrangements elsewhere. Needless to say, when we got back from our trip, our dog came home with kennel cough. Four Paws did not take responsibility for the vet bills. I had a great experience with Four Paws Pet Resort. I called them on a Thursday in the middle of July and they were able to get me in, which is great! They have a huge location with lots of space for many pets. On my initial registration call, the owner was extremely helpful and was flexible with our weekend schedule. He also stressed the importance of making sure my dogs were up to date on their Bordetella shots because he said some pets can be vulnerable to kennel cough if their shots were close to expiration. When my Mom dropped off the dogs, she felt very comfortable and said that although they were busy, they were very customer service oriented. There are three types of rooms to chose from for your pet, which was helpful depending on the type of pet you own. The rooms were affordable and I didn't feel that they were unresonable. After our visit, we received a 20% discount because we had two dogs that were able to stay in one large room together, which was great. The dogs also received a report card following their visit. I will definitely use Four Paws in the future! read more

He always gets excited when he knows he is going there, and does not hesitate to be lead into the housing area by the staff. We have a Bloodhound who is scared of her own shadow, she is 95lbs of love and we love to bring her to Four Paws, is it the best place in the Cities, I don't know, but it beats anything in the Woodbury/ Oakdale area. We've been taking our dog here for over a year and living in Maplewood we still find it more convenient then dealing with the problems of and costs of other places. She is always tired from play, and doesn't look dirty or unkempt. The cost is only about $30 dollars a day, $40 if you add in play times and treats. 4 Paws is our go to and we haven't experienced any negatives in the 10 or so times we have brought her in. The employees are always good with her and you feel like she gets exercise instead of being in a kennel all day. read more

I would give this place no stars if I could. This past winter I brought my 7 month old lab puppy to Four Paws Pet Resort for some exercise since it was too cold out for him to run and play for an extended period of time outside. When I arrived there I didn't see any dogs in the play room, when I asked they stated they were all outside playing but would be brought in soon since it was so cold. When I arrived there 2 1/2 hours later to pick him up I again didn't see any dogs playing up front, so I asked if they were back outside and they stated no he's in a kennel in back. It turns out they only are let out of the kennels a few times a day to play for a short period of time. Not like any other daycare I had brought him to in the past, but this facility was the only option I had since we choose not to neuter our dog and most day cares will not accept unneutered dogs past the age of 6 months. I asked to walk back with them to see where he was and there he was sitting so pathetic in a wire cage with a small little blanket on the floor and the back kennel room smelt strongly of bleach. The kennel area reminded me of I dog pound. I was so upset that I brought my dog there for what i thought was play time but only to be put in a kennel for 2 hours and only get to play for half an hour and on top of it I paid $20. I guess I maybe didn't ask the right questions like will my dog be put in a kennel? NEVER AGAIN. I wouldn't even board my dog there it looked so lonely. read more

I have been taking my dogs here for several years and am happy to have such a nice place to leave them when necessary. They seem to really love dogs and understand how stressful it is for "owners" to leave their pets in the hands of someone else. I have taken my dog here several times, without any issues. Recently I took my dog here for a weekend stay and he got bit on his ear, which turned out to be a severe injury. They didn't call me one time during that weekend and waited until I came to pick him up to tell me of this incident and that I should take him to the vet. I incurred a $280 Bill. I talked to the owner to get reimbursed and asked if he can pay at least half the cost and he told me he would pay $140. When I picked up the check he only wrote it for a third of the cost and refused to pay the $140. He pretty much blamed me and said it's my risk to bring my dog there and he's not responsible. I warn everyone who is thinking about bringing their pet here! read more

We have been bringing our dog, Toby, here for a few years now. It's worth the drive from Minneapolis because we know Toby will be in good hands. We know he will be safe, well cared for, and get plenty of play time with new friends. Immediately when we pull into the parking lot, Toby is whining to get out and play... he has no time for goodbye kisses! We recently put our 10 year old Pomeranian here for the first time during our 9 day trip. He was treated very well. The staff were very considerate and asked many questions about him in order to get to know him better before we left. They were able to accommodate our requests. We had used four paws in the early 2000's and loved it. This last time there was new management. The man behind the counter registering and tagging the dogs approached our fearful rat terrier from the front with no warning tried to place a paper collar around his neck. Any animal would be frightened by such a sudden move, when our dog growled, he handed the collar to my husband and said "here you do it, I am not going to get bitten". The dog seemed fearful when we picked him up and acted like he was being punished. We will never go back there again. We think he may have been ignored by staff, during his stay. read more

September 9, 2008 Four Paws Pet Resort 4020 Old Sibley Memorial Highway Eagan, MN 55122 To Owner/Manager: I am writing to express my deepest disappointment with the service that you provided my family while we were on vacation a couple of weeks ago. My husband and I made a trip out to California and left our dog Macy with my sister to care for her while we were gone. I told her to bring Macy to Four Paws for the weekend, because we have brought her there before with good experiences. While we are aware that every business has set hours to serve customers it would be in your best interest to make exceptions to the rule once in a while. My sister is not very familiar with the process of bringing a dog to a kennel since she doesn't own one and doesn't take care of Macy very much. I called ahead of time to set up the dates for her and pre-pay the required deposit of $25.00. I told her to drop her off on Friday morning before she went to work so she wouldn't have to come all the way back from Minneapolis and pick her up and drop her off once done with work during rush hour. She was unaware that you did not open until 8 am. When she got there at about 7:30 she politely asked an employee to let her check the dog in a little early as she had a busy day and rush hour traffic to deal with going to downtown Minneapolis. She was told no and the door was promptly slammed in her face. Another employee came at 7:45 and she asked if you all could please do her a favor and check her in 15 min early as she had to get going. Again she was told no and that you all were busy. All the while she could see you sitting inside, doing absolutely nothing so important that you couldn't have taken 5 min out of your time to help her out. She was very frustrated at that point in time and called me in California on my vacation to vent her anger. Some people have slightly different hours then the normal 8-5 day. Maybe you should try to understand that and be a little more accommodating sometimes. When she finally did arrive inside no one bothered to acknowledge the situation or apologize to her. How frustrating! There are plenty of other kennels that I can take my dog to that aren't so unreasonable that they couldn't check my dog in 10 or 15 min early if needed. I am very upset with the treatment she received there and it makes me wonder how you treat your animals. On top of that the person who deals with the payments never even remembered that I had paid the deposit ahead of time, charging my sister for the entire stay including the deposit. I got a phone call 2 days later saying the mistake had been corrected. This is completely unprofessional. I will not be bringing my dog back there ever again. I have no desire to leave her in the hands of such rude and inconsiderate people. read more

We will never bring our dog to Four Paws Resort again. We had a horrible experience and our dog was attacked by another dog and the owners of Four Paws Resort wouldn't take responsibility for our dogs injuries, stitches and lacerations. Our dog didn't bite the other dog back and that dog didn't need medical attention. In fact, after trying to resolve the vet bill for nearly 2 weeks with the owners, we had to dispute the nearly $400.00 vet bill with our credit card company. The owners (we spoke to both owners numerous times) of Four Paws repeatedly didn't call us back nor did they tell the owner of the other dog of our dog's injuries until we reminded them repeatedly that they needed to resolve this in a timely manner. Our dog had to spend the night at the vet's office due to the sedation and multiple stitches. Finally, after we disputed it with our credit card company (visa), we miraculously finally got the owner's of the Resort to call us back and then they finally agreed to talk and they had the other owner apparently take responsibility as Four Paws insurance doesn't cover injuries at their facility as we were advised. Very unprofessional and extremely unresponsive ownership. THINK TWICE about bringing your loved animal(s) here. Wanted to give a zero star rating but that wasn't possible with this reviewing system. read more
