I inherited my mom's Yorkie when she passed away two years ago. He is 14 years old. Denise has been grooming him for the past 2 years. She is excellent! Because of his age, he has arthritis and moves slower. Denise knows this and takes special care to be gentle with him. She always gives him the best cuts, cleans his ears and trims his nails-she even gives him cute bandanas around all of the holidays and takes a Polaroid picture that she gives you when you pick your dog up! Her prices are half of what you would pay any where else. Denise's shop is extremely clean and is decorated like a cute little cottage. The one reviewer who mentioned that their dog got fleas after being groomed there, must have already had fleas before going there. There is no way that there is even one flea in the place! I brought my 5 month old puppy here by recommendation of a family member and I wish that I had just waited. While I don't doubt that the owner is nice and is good at what she does, I will not be bringing my pup back. After stating when bringing her in that her fur isn't quite long enough that she'd need a haircut, I was told she'd only get a trim in the front where needed. Her haircut was a hack job and I'm mortified. Her nails were my main reason for bringing her in other than a good bathing/cleaning and her nails are cracked and are splitting on at least 6 finger/toes. Maybe more. I went to pet her paw and try and get a better look but she nipped at me when I touched her (something that she's never done before). Now, being a rational person, I didn't expect my hyper almost 50lb golden retriever puppy to be perfect because I know she's a big, strong and hyper baby still, but if the hack job and awful job on her nails was done due to her just being too young and rambunctious, I would've been fine with a phone call saying that the job was done as best as possible and left at a bathing and ear cleaning. Instead, my sweet girl seemed more stressed out and now is afraid when I touch her paws. Hopefully she isn't afraid when take her to a different place next time. read more

I had a fabulous experience with 4 paws grooming. I have two dogs. One has to be sedated at the vet to get his nails cut. I pay 200.00 getting the dog put to sleep for a nail trim. So, I came to 4 paws with zero expectations. I brought food for the groomer to feed the dog and do the best she could. She called me a few hours later to let me know they were ready. She said they both did great with no problems. I was in shock!!!! Both dogs groomed with no problem!!! I am so grateful!! I now have a dog groomer my dogs love. This is going to save me so much money and is much healthier. She truly has a gift with dogs. My dogs look beautiful. They both are super happy and calm. I highly recommend 4 paws! read more

We took our golden retriever (Pookey) here to get his hair trimmed and washed. Now, he's on Frontline (just applied it 4 days ago), and he's an inside dog as in we never leave him outside by himself for more than half hour as we take him on lengthy walks. She had us call her a couple hours in to check on the progress, which my boyfriend did, and everything was fine, she still needed more time. An hour or so later, when he went there to pick up our dog, she said he had fleas. When asked about it (e.g. how many were there? how should we treat it?) she just shrugged and said to put more Frontline on him. Pookey has never itched before we dropped him off. Because he's an inside dog - we would've noticed if he was itching furiously. Also, Frontline is not the answer when we just applied it 4 days ago as it lasts 30 days and goes into their bloodstream. She said we probably didn't apply it correctly, and cut a chunk of hair between his shoulder blades to show us where to apply it - as if we didn't know. What's suspicious to me is that she also didn't say a word when we called earlier, and mentioned that there were only a few fleas. The inside of the place had dried pee in the main area (not where the dogs are groomed) and balls of hair everywhere. She also cut my dog in numerous areas (red and scraped skin from where she cut too close to his privates), the skin is all irritated and there are scratches all over his private area, which now he licks all the time since I'm sure it's sore. Now after two flea baths and disinfecting the entire house with sprays, washes, and vacuuming sessions, Pookey has finally stopped itching. This woman is ridiculous, even if she didn't give my dog fleas from her dirty store, she still cut him all over the place and did a shitty job. Don't take your dog here, I wish I could find some way to report her. read more

I have a miniature pinscher who has given the vet and every other person who has tried to clip her nails a hard time. She is temperamental and untrusting of new people and can become somewhat aggressive when she feels scared. I was nervous to bring her in and explained to Denise the situation. I brought my dog in the same day and Denise clipped her nails with no problem. I've brought her to Four Paws ever since. Denise clearly understands dogs and dog behavior. She was understanding of my situation and took care to make sure both me and my dog were comfortable and she did a great job. read more

I have been taking my dogs to Denise at Four paws for 12 years now. She loves animals, is really low key and gives you personal service. Her prices are reasonable. When you ask her to give a certain cut, you know that is the cut you'll get. Unlike those big box stores that have grooming services. I took my dogs to a bog box groomer once. Somehow the cut I wanted got lost in translation, because the person who took my dogs was not the same person who groomed my dogs. Never again. Very dirty, stinky, unfriendly, understaffed, and slow service. Dogs are kept in dirty crates, until ready for grooming. The worst part is that the animals are dried with regular fans that blow cold air on the shivering dogs! The animals sit in the crates for hours until the owner is ready to groom them, because she is the only employee! This establishment is violating health codes, and should be shut down. Don't take your pet here, unless you want them to be treated poorly in a hazardous and unhealthy environment. read more

Even just one star is too good but I had to give something. I called this groomer to get an estimate on what the cost might be to have my 3 dogs groomed. There was so much negativity from the person who answered the phone but I continued any how because one cannot judge just on the personality of one person. The more questions I asked the greater the rudeness. Mentioning the breed of 2 of my dogs was a blessing because certain breeds are not allowed in the salon and will not be groomed. Enough said. My experience is exactly the opposite as the first reviewer. This is a small place and not at all fancy--that doesn't matter to me. The owner, Denise, loves dogs and treats them really well. We have two Old English Sheepdog puppies, and she's been grooming them since they were 12 weeks old. We took them often so they'd get comfortable with her. Now they're 8 months, HUGE & HAIRY, and Denise does a fabulous job with them. We're keeping their hair long, and she trims them exactly as little or much as we want. We got there a little early today and got to see one of the puppies on her table. She was relaxed and cooperative, a sure sign that she's not afraid of anything Denise does to her. I know our girls are well taken care of, and they come home clean and beautiful. Let me also mention that she's very inexpensive. $90 for TWO SHEEPDOGS with FULL COATS!! Such a deal. read more

We have had our miniature schnauzer's hair cut here a few times and each time was excellent. The owner was even patient enough to use scissors (and did a great job) for an entire haircut when he got his first haircut as puppy because he was afraid of the sound of the clippers.
