Lovely rooms with patios (not big night to sit on but could stand on it). Shower had dual heads, but no door so made for cold showers with barely Luke warm water. The room door itself wouldn't shut all the way on its own ended up having to pull on it aggressively to shut it. The bed was comfortable. Loved that there was a tv in the bedroom and living area. The doors within the room were a mix between sliding doors and regular doors. The room has a door to the living room and one to the bathroom. The living room also had a door to the bathroom. Ironing board (small one) and iron provided in the decent sized closet. Room also includes microwave and fridge. Parking is already included in your nightly rate, they have parking right out front of lobby as well as non secured underground parking. Elevator available to take you from parking garage to either lobby or hotel floors. Restaurant is on site but closes at 9PM. In the lobby theirs fruit infused water, what appeared to be soda, hot water and coffee available 24/7. Great experience with check in staff.

I expected more from a Sheraton, but this one is quite small. I stayed Tues-Fri and they put me in a room on the first floor across from the conference room and next to the lobby. Pros and cons below... PROS - Easy to find, located on a main road - Ample parking - Friendly staff - Free coffee/tea in lobby - Free instant hot cocoa in lobby - Clean bed and bathroom - Spacious room - Mini fridge in room - Dog relief area in the back of hotel - Onsite restaurant and small bar CONS - A lot of noise and movement outside the room due to my room location, which made my dog anxious - Extremely dimly lit room, as mentioned by others in their reviews - hot water is not super hot. Just shower with it on max hot and that is all you're gonna get. - toilet paper is very very very thin - no microwave in the room - no food places within short walking distance

John at check in is so kind and super helpful when I requested late check out so I could squeeze in a morning swim in Santa Cruz, which is just 15 minutes away!! Thank you!! Room was large and beautifully decorated with a big leather couch and a giant shower. I think my corner suite is larger than most rooms. I only stayed one night. Convenient if you have business in Santa Cruz or just want to swim in the ocean on a random Monday!

I love the hotel. My room was clean. The staff was nice. And for the first time ever the hotel food was actually good. I've never been to a hotel where their restaurant is actually good.I had a nice cocktail. The cook did an amazing job with my salad big up to Juan! And the bartender Yesenia was so kind and sweet, and the front desk girl Vanessa was very kind and patient with me, I just adore her.. I will be returning here again next holiday because of my great stay.

I saw a service dog in there, but I don't know the overall dog's policy.

It's a fairly short drive up 17 (although the fog and rain still were nasty) and the Best Western is right off the Scotts Valley exit. We liked the easy accessibility of this place, compared to the Hilton where we had stayed in recent years. Lots of parking, friendly and quick check-in service. My wife enjoyed the deluxe coffee machine off the lobby which provided her with a latte for Energy pick up. Check in is at 3 PM and check out at 11 AM. The room was comfortable and clean with a king bed. In my mind it's a solid three star hotel - nothing fancy, but good at the basics. Wi-Fi was good, lots of room lighting, and a microwave and mini fridge. We were on the second floor, and they do have an elevator for people with accessibility concerns. Breakfast is free but don't expect a deluxe meal. The eggs definitely tasted rather odd (powdered?). However, they did have fresh sausages and pancakes available, as well as the standard hotel breakfast fare. Plenty of nearby Scotts Valley locations for eating and supplies. A decent place and sound value for what you pay.

Parking can be limited, particularly during busy times, and still is expensive to park overnight. Rooms are spacious and relatively modern. Bathrooms are clean and tidy. Slept great here, bedding and linens are clean and sharp. Staff at the front desk are a mixed group - some are very motivated and enthusiastic, others are a little bit less interested in your stay. The downstairs bar is lively and well staffed. Limited dining options. Pool hot tub is nice and well maintained. Gym is decent. Would stay here again.

Poor Service, Hidden Fees, and a $300 Smoking Fee Charged to Non-Smokers…read more My stay was extremely disappointing and reflects a breakdown in basic service standards and billing practices. During the stay, there were no towels available at the pool, daily room cleaning was not provided, parking transactions included additional service fees, and coffee from the lobby/breakfast area carried a $5 charge. These issues were inconvenient, but the primary concern arose after checkout. After departure, I was charged a $300 smoking fee based solely on an air quality and humidity detector reading. I do not smoke. During the timeframe in question, I was using a small water-based clothing steamer to remove wrinkles from clothing after travel. The charge was not disclosed at checkout, and no physical evidence of smoking was provided. Hotel staff acknowledged that these types of sensors can be triggered by factors unrelated to smoking. Despite this, no independent review or investigation was conducted, and no additional evidence beyond the detector reading was provided. I was directed to dispute the charge through my credit card issuer. I escalated the matter to Hilton corporate customer service, but the case was redirected back to the same property without independent review. The General Manager did not respond to multiple outreach attempts, including email and a request for a callback. After researching, I found similar complaints from other guests regarding smoking fee disputes at this property, raising concerns about how these charges are determined and reviewed, and the reliability of the technology being used. I support non-smoking policies; however, issuing significant charges based solely on a sensor reading without supporting evidence or meaningful review is not acceptable. This experience has significantly impacted my confidence in both this property and the consistency of issue resolution within the Hilton brand. I would still welcome a fair review of this charge and a good-faith effort to resolve the matter appropriately.

(Check the filtered/hidden reviews.) Wellstone is marketed as a retreat center for aspiring writers, but it does indeed feel more like a shoddy youth hostel. The main house may have once been majestic, but it has fallen into a state of disrepair. The accommodations were poorly maintained and unsanitary, with ripped furniture, non-functioning lamps, and mildew in my bathroom. The grounds were in a sad state, with a filthy pool and unusable hot tub that had only a few inches of dirty water. The mattress was so old, uncomfortable, and sagging that I simply didn't sleep. The bedding had some unidentifiable stains that appeared to be fluids, which was quite concerning. When I brought it up with the hosts, they seemed completely unconcerned and dismissed me. The bath towels were old, scratchy, and smelled of mildew. As others have mentioned, the hosts request that you use cloth napkins - which is great, except that they do not wash theses napkins between meals. They instead instructed us to re-use other guests' napkins at subsequent meals, which is dangerously unhygienic. Reminder that I came here to write. It was a terrible place for me to write, in part because there's a loud family that lives in the house, and in part because there were no lights. That's right -- no lights bright enough to read by. A few mood lamps, nothing more. I am not a morning person and do most of my writing in the evenings. At sundown, I was forced to be done with all reading. It was too dark to read my book drafts, which I'd printed out; let alone any primary sources, books I was using for research. Unless you happen to bring a headlamp or a bevy of your favorite floor-lamps, you will also be out of luck. Make sure to read the other reviews that have been filtered out before you decide to apply for this "writing retreat." For me, it was neither a retreat nor a useful place to write. I wish I'd booked a hotel instead. You might want to consider the same.

Beware of this company, they do not take care of their tenants, or do their job, which in it's most basic form would be to make sure the house is ready to be moved into on the agreed upon move-in date. I feel like I've been fighting with property management since the day I moved in a month ago, and it will probably take another month of back and forth ridiculous communication before I get all the things I paid $11k for to be done before the agreed upon move-in date. Here is a list of things I've dealt with, I am leaving them here so that others know what to look out for. The entire house was filthy on move in day, had not been professional cleaned for a move-in. It still has not, over a month later, partially due to them not getting communication right with the cleaners they finally sent, partially due to me being busy and out of town and not having the time to deal with it. They did illegally send cleaners into my home without my permission while I was on a trip, and still not clean. The landlord had agreed to moved out a bunch of his old furniture to make space for my stuff, and half of what was agreed upon to get moved was still in the house on Nov 1st. I moved it to the deck, for him to come and get, then told property management to get a tarp to cover it, so it would not get rained on. They never took care of the tarp, so it did rain on the furniture, one night I had to dragged mattresses into the house by myself. I went out and bought a trap the next day and they are now refusing to reimburse me for the tarp. The house was advertised with a hot tub, and it is broken, come to find out it has not been turned on for 2 years, which PM did not know, but the landlord did know. They put in the lease, that if the hot tub breaks down while I'm here they would not replace, but that was based on the fact that it worked to begin with. Then they said they would take $50 off the rent for each month the hot tub is not working, and when it came time to deduct that from rent they said "that is only if we can't get the hot tub working at all." (They are currently trying to get it working - so fingers crossed the can deliver on something they promised up front). The hot tub cover that was left behind, and the condition was disgusting, they said it was ready to use, though it is covered in black mold, slugs, and water is soooo dirty. There has been a dead rat under the house with rat droppings for this entire first month, and the landlord has stuffed old boogie boards on top of it twice, despite my request to take away the boards, which are mostly garbage. They left several large pieces of furniture for me to "deal with" after saying the landlord would be happy to take anything away I did not want to keep. cupboard drawers broken, closet floors need a carpenter to fix random floor boards, shower drain clogged. I am not going to get detailed about everything that has been out of integrity, but I'll close by saying, if you do rent a house from this PM be sure to go there a few days before your move in date and make sure you are getting your moneys worth and that the place is actually ready to move into. I like the house and the location, and I'm a really easy going person and fantastic tenant - worked with Portola PM for 13 years, no issues - so it's really been unfortunate to have this completely unnecessary experience, because it's tainted my view of the house, and left me questioning keeping it. My hope is that I can get everything worked out in my second month here and stay. And hopefully get to a place where I can stop communicating with PM about the house, they have been frustrating and terrible communicators. We shall see.....
