Everyone was nice and I found the prices to be reasonable enough for most items especially if there is a discount, but in reviewing my receipt, I've realized the cashier overcharged me by $27! I usually have my receipts texted to me, and in the shuffle to stay organized and not drop anything, I didn't realize I was charged jacket prices for two skirts and coat prices for two jackets. That last one is the one that really ran up the price since coats are $20 and jackets are $10. Really disappointed and I wish I could get a refund for the difference. That's half a tank of gas in this economy. I've been to a couple of Four Sales Estate Sales, and have now had a run in with the same employee 3 times. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Today I walked into their sale a few minutes late. I didn't realize they had already closed, but the doors were open and people were inside. The female employee that Mark, the manager, calls his "work wife" treats customers like inconvenient trash.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Mark does not want to deal with customers so he tells all customers to go to Helen or the bitter, old woman.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]These women have nothing but disgust for customers especially Female customers.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I just read a recent review from a female customer and her review is factual and on point. [[HIGHLIGHT]]They openly make fun of customers, insult customers and rip them off.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The bitter, old woman has followed us around over the years and watched what we picked up to purchase. She then whispers to Mark to up the price. We put the items back. The prices are already high. This woman has said multiple times, "I know these clients (owner of the home) and they paid a lot for that," and then she increases the price. It could be a simple hammer from the garage and she makes it higher than retail. They don't care if customer buys the items because all of the left over items go to auction where Four Sales collects the profit for themselves. The client / owner of the home pays Four Sales hundreds of dollars to remove the contents and then everything is sent to a Wednesday auction where they keep the profit. How do I know this? I overheard the bitter, old woman tell customers. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The amount of negative energy thrust onto the customers by employees is overwhelming which is why most regular estate sale shoppers do not attend Four Sales events.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Less shoppers = Less money for the client. Estate sale companies where you can enjoy shopping and/or conduct a sale are: Emerald, Hadley Associates, HTG Estate Sales, Blue Moon, Rediscover, KC Estate, Caring Transitions, Zenith, Park Place. These are a few trustworthy, professional, positive estate sale companies that want customers and their business. We've been attending estate sales in this area for many years and this is a good list of companies that care about the client and the customers. As a first-time customer, I offer the following tips to other potential first-time customers: 1. The most important thing to me in this kind of business is trust. Did Daniel and his team earn my trust? Absolutely. And for that reason, I would turn to them again, but only for certain kinds of sales. Given the high cost of engaging these folks (fees and commission ate up close to 50% of the final offer I received), low dollar value items are frankly not worth the trouble and retain more value as memorabilia than cash. Be careful what you ask for. 2. As a newbie, I didn't ask too many questions but I strongly recommend that you do. For example: "If my (item) does not command an offer consistent with expectations (those provided by Daniel or your own), can I turn down the offer and keep my (item)?" These folks are clearly busy and I believe they (mistakenly) assume you know how the game is played. They won't walk you through the process unless you ask them to. read more

Less than an hour after submitting my online request for a vintage breakfront appraisal I received a phone call from Daniel Sanders, Four Sales Ltd and Inventory Inspector LLC. We had a lengthy discussion during which he provided a great deal of information and history on the changes in valuation for this particular type of furniture over the past 20 years. I have a 10-piece Union National French Provincial dining room set and a matching bedroom dresser my parents bought in the 1970s. Whether or not I submitted the other pieces for appraisal would depend on the result I received for the breakfront. Daniel is very knowledgeable about this particular manufacturer, the history of the company, the types and styles of furniture they manufactured and sold, and how each style has been valued by the market over the years. A very informative and helpful discussion. He also told me this particular style was not in great demand at this time and that it would have been valued much higher some years ago. My own research on Google did find the same breakfront in excellent condition was listed for sale some years ago at a fairly high price, but over the next few years, the price dropped considerably before it sold more than 8 years ago. We will be donating the furniture, so whoever eventually buys it may find that in 10-15 years or so French Provincial is again in demand and the value may increase (my own thoughts). Daniel gave me his estimated valuation for the breakfront and told me he did not think it would be worth it for me to pay for appraisals on the other pieces. The report I received included his valuation of the breakfront, and included a site-unseen estimated value for the type of dining room set this piece would be part of. I very much appreciated Daniel's honesty, and the time he took to discuss all aspects of this furniture with me, without trying to sell me additional services. I would say if you do not have the "volume" of what they are looking for do not call them. Cold and very unhelpful. I have about 5 to 6 items and was referred to them by the moving company that we are using to downsize for our next move. I was told, "Based on what you are telling me we are not a good match." Done, basically gave me the feeling of "we do not have time for you". Would have loved some suggestions on another avenue I could consider. I wasn't happy with their services. I actually sold some items through them but wish that I hadn't. Daniel came to my family home and took a few items to sell. He told me that the majority of items in my parent's home were "unsaleable" and "not worth the time", and I should hire someone to haul them to the dump. However, when I hired another estate sales company afterwards, a lot of the items did actually sell, and I was really glad I hadn't paid to have it all trashed like he advised! Seriously. He seemed most interested in small, portable and high-value objects like guns and coin and stamp collections. I think they make their business work by cream-skimming --they take the most valuable objects and sell them at a steep profit to themselves (I should also note that the other company I hired also took a smaller percentage commission) and they advise you to just dump everything else. They are not interested in helping you through a difficult time of transition, that's for sure. (Doesn't this whole review sound like I'm biased, or like I work for another company? I don't. It was just a difficult time --selling my demented parent's belongings--and they made it more difficult, rather than less.) read more

I frequent estate sales and typically scout them out on EstateSales.net This company typically has pictures but I've learned not to waste my time because the prices are similar to Target's prices. After unexpectedly buying a place that came furnished, I had a full house of furniture to quickly part with. Rather than trying my luck with online postings or having strangers traipse through my house for weeks, I called Four Sales. And I'm glad I did. Working with Daniel on the phone was a pleasure: he's very knowledgeable about the pre-owned furniture market, price setting, and DMV area transport rates. He took the time to work out a plan that would work best for me rather than pushing the all-too-common one-size-fits-all / take-it-or-leave-it approach some hustlers force on customers. Unloading pre-owned furniture is a rough business, especially considering that the original owners will never get anything close to what they paid for the pieces at the initial sale. Even "good stuff" does not usually have a high resale value or even resale potential. Daniel helped me understand the real, current value of furniture and offered a few services (buy/sell, donate, or scrap) for every piece. Is it possible I could have shopped around for months and made a few dollars more? Maybe, but, in the end, Four sales' candor and convenience trumps the few dollars more you may, possibly be lucky enough to make through a private estate sale. read more

We had a contract with Four Sales to have items auctioned off. We contacted them about a month and a half before we were to be out of the house. Asked about selling our goods. We went though each and every room of the house with a representative from the company explaining in detail what would and would not be sold. He then suggested we have the moving company remove the items we did not want to sell, so that he would be able to conduct the sale without having to block off furniture and items that were not to be sold. We took his advice, asked the moving company to come in early, with the additional cost of having our items in storage with the moving company. After 2 weeks of packing and boxing our items, we called the gentleman and asked that he prepare the house for the sale. Reluctantly, he showed up, and abruptly told us (with 1 week and 3 days until we had to be out of the house) that he would not be able to sell our items. His excuse - not enough items to warrant a sale. The house was still 3/4 furnished, as we were selling most of the large furniture and other personal items. We explained that we went over the items room by room with him, and he gave us assurances that, Four Sales would be handling our estate sale. And although he did offer to get rid of our furniture through a mix of auction and donation, which, again, was not what we had been promised. Thanks to that very "reasonable and lucrative" new deal we found ourselves having to find a new provider in the week and a half left - this was a stress-test, which I would not wish on anybody. I would highly recommend anyone looking to have an estate sale done, consider another company, OR VERY LEAST get EVERYTHING in WRITING from the first day you meet with any representative from this company. However, we were VERY lucky to find iStuff Sellers ,Darren came in and performed the sale with wonderful precision, dedication and professionalism that was severely lacking from Four sales. Giving us the happy ending to our home estate sale, we so desperately needed. read more

It's taken a year and half to write this revue. My FIRST clue should've been when Daniel did not allow my choice of where unsold items were to go to. I had a local charity that I wished my pieces would go to - NO was his answer. He had some 'fake' bulls**t place it would all go. WOW! I had procrastinated for years in selling off the old collectibles, guns, knives and odds & ends that I had inherited. I talked to 'experts' a few times who offered to buy some of the stuff and pay me about half the value but nobody who would help me with all of it until I talked to Four Sales. Not only did you take ALL of the stuff I wanted to get rid of (and some of it really seemed like junk), you SOLD it ALL and I got money for it. Even the broken items and the parts and pieces. Best of all, your expert really knew his stuff and spent the time to dig up the right details on the items. He even advised me to keep some of the items either because the sentimental value was higher than the sale value or because the items was rare enough that I really shouldn't sell it. I didn't always take his advice but I was happy to have it none the less! In the end you did several things for me that nobody else offered with any confidence: 1) You gave me honest advice on the value of my items 2) You took ALL the stuff I wanted to get rid of 3) You got me far more $ for the items than I expected 4) You gave me a very thorough accounting of the sales results 5) You made it EASY! Four Sales is a commission used auction service company. They are very honest, friendly, and prompt. We were downsizing, and they took our better pieces, sold them at auction, and earned us a handsome penny for the lot. They are honest about what they think will sell, and what they think will not sell, which is very useful when you have these kinds of decisions to make. read more

Daniel was really friendly and knowledgeable. I called to ask about selling an antique bedroom set and he went through the details with me and explained the market for the product. Unfortunately, my items really wouldn't make enough profit (which was confirmed by several other companies) and I appreciate that he didn't try to make a commission and leave me without adequate compensation. Also, having talked to several other companies, I can say that it was really nice that he took the time to not only talk about the items with me, but to appraise them afterwards.
