    Herring dinner plate
    Kurt P.

A fun dining experience with an ambiance archetypal for northern Minnesota. Dinner for 5 here a couple of days ago. When you walk in the door the north woods ambiance hits you like a cedar plank. Circular bar with raucous drinkers, fireplace, etc. They have a decent menu, but I thought where they really shined was the daily specials. A couple of us had the herring dinner. I love pickled herring, but never had it breaded and fried before, so I took a chance and was glad I did! The first course was the salad, which had a nice bed of mixed greens with shredded carrots and grape tomatoes. Really good. The entree had a generous serving of skin-on fries which were some of the best I've had in recent memory, but the star was the herring. There were 3 good-sized fillets plus tartar sauce. I had a Happy Plate that night, and a Happy Belly. There aren't too many choices for restaurants in the surrounding area, but all I can say is we all left pleased with our evening at the Four Seasons.

Want a place like back home to eat at on the North Shore, you can't do better than Four Seasons. It's just 5 miles off highway 61 in Finland. They have old fashioned French fries that are the perfect balance of crispy, salty, and greasy. I had the steak sandwich and my wife had the walleye sandwich. Our bill was about $20 lower than at the resorts. We had great service too. Highly recommended!

We found Cove Point, it looked quaint, so we thought, why not? Walking in, we were greeted by a gentleman who was not entirely personable, but oh well. We were seated promptly and had an opportunity to review the menu. The menu itself was limited to some degree, which was fine. There were several pizza options, salads, and sandwiches available. They have a full bar, local beers, and several non-alcoholic beverages. The one thing that really stood out to me was the prices. My wife had a salad wrap, and I had their standard burger. Both were $17.00?? This far up north?? The food was fine, certainly nothing to write home about, but I can't help but feel that both those entrees were a wee bit overpriced.

It is small, not many tables but wasn't terribly busy on a Thursday at lunch. It has a north woods feel with a cute mural covering one wall. We started with totchos which were fine and a local tap beer. My husband got the wings, they were crispy and tasty, he was pleasantly surprised. There were only six wings in the order so the price at $16 was rather steep but expected being on the north shore. I ordered the turkey focaccia sandwich. It was so good! The bread was fresh and crispy and the turkey was thick cut turkey slabs with fresh sprouts and aioli. It was a big sandwich but I ate it all because it was wonderful. I upgraded to onion rings, they were average.
