This was an unexpected solid experience. Frist, the place is exactly what you expect a place named Tracks N Racks to be. Close your eyes, and picture it. Close to Wisconsin, deer hunting theme...yep. Key factors are that it is very clean and the staff were friendly and welcoming to us city-folk. We were a group of 9 arriving right at lunch and easily got a table for all of us - which happened to be right night to a TV playing a Arsenal F.C. game - a dream come true for my 14 year old Arsenal fan. To be clear, the food was NOT fancy, but my club sandwich was just like what I would make at home, and the fries were OFF THE CHARTS DELICIOUS. Service was friendly and attentive. Food was excellent (whatever the BBQ burger w/ onion rings is called). And, absolutely get the fries. See that, I got to try both the onion rings and fries with my selection. Had a couple beers as well. Food was quick, hot and delicious. Arrived about 7:10 and it closes at 8, so there was no wait. Just the right amount of interaction and people. The bartender was great and provided exactly what I asked for - nothing more and nothing less. I'm a city girl and a foodie, if that helps in your assessment. Great little place. Modestly decorated and casual with a very friendly staff. Comfy bar just when you walk in. The beer was cold and the wine was fine. Food arrived super fast My burger was deliciously greasy and came smashed with crispy edges and not over cooked. It was served between two slices of hearty bread. That was a real nice change. I liked it. My wife received her walleye sandwich served on a hamburger bun. Love this place. The sandwich was ok Cheese curds a ok. House salad was very good But now onto the fries that came with the burger. Something new? Fries cut into rectangular pieces and they were perfectly deep fried. The server told us that the fries are patented for a specific area!! I will return just for the fries. Everything was really fine here. I never post reviews and am NOT a fussy eater but was so disappointed with the quality of the Caesars salad and the lack of effort to try and fix it that I felt I needed to say something. I understand prices are a bit high for this area, but for a salad with NO chicken, along with a bowl of wet, limp soggy lettuce, I feel $15.99 was overpriced. I had to ask for the missing croutons that were supposed to come with it. It seemed like a half a bottle of dressing was put on the salad to try and disguise inedible lettuce. Lettuce was NOT Crisp and was very soupy. When asked if all was ok, I shared with the waitress that I was not happy with the salad, that it was horrible, and I was unable to eat it. She apologized that she was not able to give a discount, so we paid full price and left the salad behind. We will NOT be going back. read more

Interpret this review in the context of where we are -- up on the North Shore with pretty limited options. In that context -- this place rocks. First, it is the only place within a 20+ min drive that has ACTUAL FOOD THAT YOU COOK. Yes, it's mainly burgers, but it has an actual kitchen, not just a deep fryer and pizza oven. And their fries are legitimately great (sigh, stupid $3.50 upcharge to get them). They have a solid draft selection that includes Minnesota craft beers, though you do have to be cool with IPAs (mmm, hops). They are fully family friendly, my 7yo sat at the bar and was treated with kindness and welcome. If we're in this area again, this is 100% the place we're coming back to. Wow! 1st off we are locals. How ever, tonight was a trip.....I mean the bartender/waitress seemed high as a kite! She was hollering at a group of 14 four wheelers who were just trying to order food. Then she came to us, who ordered a beer and coke, which they didn't have. She was bouncing off the wall, while her kid (approx. 6) was wondering around behind the bar with a 100.00 bill. there was a couple and a guy at the bar, she called her son over to show the people how to play pull tabs! All in all , this was a lot worse than I want to waste my time with, However if there is any kind of management , I certainly would have reported it. The cook and this unstable person were the only people there. we left before we finished because she was so off the wall, and it was only 7:00 . It's a nice place, BUT the service that night sucked ,it'll be along time before we will be back, if ever, I had to talk my spouse into going to Tracks in the 1st place..................not a good look ! tourists beware. read more

Listen. Coming up from the cities during the off season to Grand Marais has had some hiccups to say the least! Reservation debacles and closed establishments left and right. We were just completely fried heading back to the cities. Essentially all of the possible dining spots from Grand Marais to Beaver Bay were closed so we took our chances here. Let me tell you, if you love colorful vibrant personalities coupled with GREAT food and reasonable pricing stop by and see John. I wish I had taken a before pic but we were famished to say the least. Anyhow I got the chicken fettuccine Alfredo it smashed my expectations and apparently the Bucks Burger was delicious as well. Well, the service was good. Friendly and prompt. Atmosphere about average for a bar/food type place. Nothing noteworthy. Prices average. The food however was very mediocre. The fried chicken sandwich was very clearly from a bulk frozen box and tasted like it. The walleye strips were tolerable but not great. The onion rings were OK. The fried pickles were sub-par. They don't have iced tea. But they do have a good selection of dipping sauces. The people were very nice, I wish the food was slightly better. read more

Could the owner's responses to bad reviews possibly be more passive aggressive? Wow! When a customer complains, the restaurant's response should typically be to apologize and MAKE it RIGHT! Food, cocktails, poor atmosphere, and service are about what you would expect from a place with this name. Always chasing tail? How juvenile and unprofessional. You're on 61. Stopped here after driving by many times without noticing. Got cheese curds which were yummy as well as 2 burgers with fries. Recommended! We had an Outdoorsman Burger, Fry Basket, and Reuben appetizer, it was super DELICIOUS! But don't forget the chipotle ranch, this restaurants sauce list was impressive! Will be back to try more. read more
